Interesting, tax funded building, tax funded materials, free child labor to sell, and they sell to the very people who paid to have them grown in the first place? Funny, maybe the private sector should open a flower shop, whats that, they are have flower shops outside of our public schools,
Do the cash poor teachers or admin get discounts, or better, all the free left overs they want? better yet, give the kids a $100 grant to buy the seeds, do the slave labor after school hours, and then sell the flowers to the local walmart. They learn then the economics of owning a business, how to manage a check book, and that is a single skill that will last a lifetime!
I worked in this same little program, taught by the same teacher almost 40 years ago. Myself and the other students learned to be entrepreneurs and we learned marketing, money management, planning and a whole lot more. I don't think we damaged the private economy much as it is such a small program. More kids in a program like this will mean less kids needing public assistance.

ReplyDeleteI agree with 11:30. I bet they don't have a business license, either. Or pay tax.
