Charles “Jack” Hastings Retires After 23 Years with Town of Ocean City

Charles “Jack” Hastings has retired after over 23 years with the Town of Ocean City. Hastings, who joined the Town in May 1989, has spent his career with the Ocean City Fire Department’s Office of the Fire Marshal.

Hasting’s responsibilities included high rise inspections and quality assurance, where he was the coordinator for both programs. He was also a member of the Fire Investigators and Hazardous Materials Response Team. “It has been honor to serve the Town for the past 23 years,” said Hastings. “I was born and raised in Ocean City and have experienced the good and bad changes over the years. What I will miss most are the friendships I have developed within all of the departments.”

Hastings is a graduate of Stephen Decatur High School. He is also certified as a Fire Prevention Specialist, a Hazardous Materials Technician, a Fire Investigator and a Fire Inspector III. Upon retiring, Hastings plans to travel, bowl and work in his workshop.

  1. Can someone tell me why the Salisbury HazMat truck, an ambulance and the acting Assistant Chief is responding to a small fuel leak in Fruitland near Crown Road? The hazmat truck is one thing but the paid acting assistant chief and the paid ambulance crew in the city vehicles as well? More overkill at the expense of tax payers.

  2. Jack Hastings is a good man. As an Ocean City property Manager for the past 19 years I have always found Jack to be thorough, professional and fair. May he enjoy his well deserved retirement to its fullest.
