HAZMAT truck and Wicomico County Emergency Service truck are both on the scene. Big gas truck and pickup truck (seen in the picture) are the two parties involved.

ReplyDeleteIs it necessary to send a Salisbury HazMat truck, an ambulance and the acting Assistant Chief to a small fuel leak in Fruitland near Crown Road? The hazmat truck is one thing but the paid acting assistant chief and the paid ambulance crew in the city vehicles as well? That is at least 8 paid personnel and more overkill at the expense of the Salisbury tax payers.

I guess you didn't read the comment and/or you don't understand economics. Was a Hazmat truck, a paramedic ambulance and an assistant chief's car from Salisbury needed to respond to that small fuel oil leak in Eden South of Fruitland. The answer is NO and it is a waste of Salisbury City tax dollars.
By the way your grammar is horrible so you are obviously an uneducated farmin defending your hobby.
Just a question, when a crash is reported to 911 and it is stated that there is a fuel spill, are they supposed to not send the equipment to handle a hazmat situation....or are they supposed to sit around and wait for someone to comfirm if it is a half gallon or a hundred gallons? Thay way you can complain that they didn't send the appropriate equipment to handle the response. WOW.....some of you are nuts. You want the government to respond (Sandy) then you don't want the goverment to respond. Make up your minds...............

ReplyDeleteHazmats are billed to the party at faults insurance. For every one tech working one tech is needed for backup. The ambulance is there for the personnel. All chiefs are techs and are there to aide command.

A gallon or hundred gallons of diesel fuel leaking out of a saddle tank is not a "Hazardous Materials incident" requiring anything special from the Salisbury Fire Department or their so called "special ops team." You morons just get your cookies off responding on any call just to drive fast a play with your lights and siren so that you can look important standing around. The Fruitland Fire Department had enough personnel on the scene to handle that very minor incident. The diesel fuel leak is nothing more than a little bit of pollution. The solution to pollution is dilution. Get It!!
A real hazmat incident would be something like a large chlorine or ammonia leak which may never ever happen around here. And if it did you and your special ops buddies would poop in their britches. By the way you are an idiot for trying to compare that very minor fender bender to Hurricane Sandy.

How about you give your name and phone number and whenever there is a 911 call, a hurricane or snowstorm approaching, they can call you to see if it is okay to prepare or respond. Obviously there is a choice and obviously if they are getting paid to sit at the fire station they are not needed. If they are not needed then why are we paying them period.
Another thing obvious is the fact that you are not a City of Salisbury tax payer. If you don't have a dog in this fight then stay out of it. As a tax paying citizen I am sick and tired of you redneck firemen threatening the real tax payers with your scare tactics.
