If your a working person or a small business owner your not getting anywhere in this economy.Only the people who have retired getting pensions or SS are doing ok.
This is one I can't understand, it seemed to me that over half the roads on Delmarva were paved with the flood of stimulus money. What happened with this company? Did the owners pull all the profits out , and save none for a rainy day?
The fact is that they were simply bought by another business with their own equipment that will pick up where they left off. I am pretty sure the owner reaped his rewards during the developer hay day that ended up screwing all of us. You know, when the banks, appraisers, and developers were all making money hand over fist at our expense. But that is okay....blame it on the government....not the greedy that really caused the problem. Answer this, a ton of blacktop from this company ten years ago was $35, now $75. Hell of an inflation heh?
Some of the people commenting on here only know what Obama and his ilk say about business. The is no big money to be made on government projects- it goes to the lowest bidder and you do is pay the bills and your employees in the end.
it must be that improving economy. what a shame

ReplyDeleteThe same thing happened that happened to Solyndra, Evergreen, A123, Abound Solar, Satcom, etc.
ReplyDeleteAll of these received stimulus - but bottom line is they cannot make it in this type of regulatory environment.
Let Obama get out there and blacktop it himself. With the Independence cards, and section 8 housing - heck who needs to work anyway.

ReplyDeleteThe reason the costs of blacktop went so high is because fuel doubled. Blacktop is a petroleum based product.
804, milk was $2, now $4.20, bread was $.68, now $1.98, Gas was $2, now $4. Asphalt makers drink milk, eat bread, and drive to work.
ReplyDeleteWhere have you been?
