Pa. High Court Remands Voter ID Law

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Pennsylvania’s highest court on Tuesday told a lower court judge to stop a tough new law requiring voters to show photo identification from taking effect in this year’s presidential election if he finds voters cannot get easy access to ID cards or if he thinks voters will be disenfranchised.

The 4-2 decision by the state Supreme Court sends the case back to a Commonwealth Court judge who initially rejected a request to stop the divisive law from going forward. The high court asked the judge, Robert Simpson, for his opinion by Oct. 2.

If Simpson finds there will be no voter disenfranchisement and that IDs are easily obtained, then the law can stand, the Supreme Court said.

  2. Just go down to the local DMV with a birth cert and let them take your picture. It's really not that hard...

  3. How about you just register in another state or two or three! That's what Wendy Rosen did and she ran for office as a fine upstanding citizen after that! She voted for herself over and over again!

  4. How can one live in this day and age without having some form of picture ID? Its not like its hard for anyone to get an ID...even if its fake! Who out there actually knows someone (who is here legally) who has no form of ID...please.

  5. If you can not figure out how to get a photo I.D. on your own, you probably should NOT be voting.

Not so easy if you do not have a way to get to the DMV or do not have the time to take off work to do so...
The only reason they puhed for this is to take votes away from Obama.

  7. 1148, if you don't have time to get an ID card, then you don"t have time to cash your paycheck, register to vote, and you certainly can't take time off to vote, either, so why are you here commenting. Have some extra time on your hands?
