NAACP Urges U.N. to Investigate U.S. for ‘Racially Discriminatory Election Laws’

Charging that millions of citizens, two-fifths of them black, have been denied the right to vote because of felony convictions, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People called on the United Nations this week to investigate America’s “racially discriminatory election laws.”
An NAACP delegation visiting Geneva hosted a panel on the “disenfranchisement” of U.S. citizens and addressed the U.N. Human Rights Council, which is in session in the Swiss city.

  2. Once convicted of a criminal offense it might be in the best interest if they lose their right to vote. By the way WTH does the UN have to do with our country?

  3. More convoluted liberal logic-refusing convicted felon the right to vote is racism. Do I not understand the meaning of racism or felon? Is there anyone out there who can explain this one to me? I would say it was unbelievable, but I have learned that you can expect anything (except what makes sense) from these people.

  5. I think the naacp should be ex-patriated effective immediately.
They are racist anti Americans. Just like Obama.
Yes, convicted felons lose the right to vote. Period.
I doubt many of them care to vote anyway.

  6. So black people are going to the UN to complain about USA laws. WTF. This is getting out of hand. How can the naacp expect anyone to support their motives doing this crap.

  7. I am so sick of this black and white thing. When is it the whites turn to get fairness? We give and keep giving. I am so tried of this. I like all people till I have to take away from me just to make things PC. The heck with PC, you want something then work for it. If you don't earn it then you don't need it. I have worked from age 16 to now and I will be 62 next week (I'm still working)and I have less then most of them, I have not blamed anyone till now. I feel we should help anyone that needs it but also there has to be a limit to it. It's not a life time hand out. There has to be an end or it will never stop as we are seeing now. map

  8. The NAACP is nothing but a bunch of uneducated losers. A prime example is that retard that carries the title of president of the Wicomico chapter. She can't even speak proper English and I am confident she couldn't construct a proper sentence if she had to.

  10. The UN will be making the laws for us very soon.

  11. They are not stupid. They get free shi- because we don't fight back. We can stop this crap if we fight back. First, vote all black people out of office. Start at the top. If they riot, they will do it in their own neighborhoods. All riots in the USA have been blacks in their own communities. They will not dare riot in white neighborhoods because the homeowners will come together and protect each other.

  12. Think before you commit a felony! They are too stupid to vote.

  13. ...and they have committed many other felonies before they were caught.

  14. I think they are correct. Going to prison and doing your time is supposed to be considered paying your debt to society isn't it?

Instead, they do their time and still are punished the rest of their lives. Saying don't do the crime is a little late then.

Same with firearms. Lose your second amendment right just because you happen to commit a felony, even if it's not connected to a firearm?

Why not restrict it if they committed a felony while using a firearm? Makes more sense to me.

But this country is bigger on punishment than common sense, so there you have it.

  15. again the u.n. ????? is everyone awake out here? don't let the u.n. do squat. they already have their evil foot in the door and it's our job as a true, patriot citizen of this nation to slam the door shut on their foot; crush it.

as far as black or even purple people getting to vote. HE__ NO they shouldn't vote; because they have a criminal history. actions have consequences.

the black community needs to focus on stronger families, education and creating jobs. if you're waiting for b.o. you'll never win.

  16. Felons should not be allowed to vote. They lost the right to vote by commiting serious crimes. I would take it even further - if you don't pay taxes you don't vote. I was told a long time ago that there are two types of people - there are givers and there are takers. The takers are always going to vote themselves more hand outs as all they can think about is what they want. Not need - want. Big difference. If you need something you work for it.

  17. 3:13 is correct. If you have committed a felony (and all felonies are FAR from equal) you can still serve in Congress (even if you have done time IN PRISON). But a citizen can't vote for the REST OF HIS LIFE? Sorry, but the convict, whether you like it or not, has paid the debt our society imposed as punishment. And felons still should have a voice the same things that matter to you and I --- schools, roads, emergency services, etc. Believe it when I tell you- there are some "felonies" that you would just shake your head at in disbelief. This is on the same level as banning -- for lfe!! -- the ownership of a gun because of a MISDEMEANOR conviction that had nothing to do with violence. Taking away citizens rights and ability to participate in our process is something no one should approach in a cavalier or dismissive manner, as in "don't do the crime, etc". Its naive, selfish, and shortsighted.

  18. Whether you think committing a serious crime should lose you your ability to vote or not is irrelevant. The NAACP has no business going outside the gov't seeking relief for laws we have passed. Piss on the UN and anything it has to say with what happens in our country.
