I Want To Be More Open About A Recent Comment I Just Put Up

10:41 The level of hate, bigotry and downright nastiness of the people on this site is not normal.

anonymous 10:55, so your saying being gay is "normal"?

I always thought "normal" was something that is acceptable in society.

Look, one of the reasons why we publish such information IS TO SEE if in fact things/situations like this are in fact "normal".

Like what we say or do, or not, the comments do really speak for themselves. I believe this is exactly how we find out if in fact it is "normal" or not.

The unfortunate part about what I do here is that the people that read COMMENTS always seem to THINK that this is MY opinion. Let me simply say this. When it is MY opinion, my name is on it, just like this one.

Here's the other thing about it. I see the hits we get each and every day. Salisbury News is ALWAYS growing. We do NOT sink to lower levels. So those of you who say I'll never be back or those who say they never come here are full of you know what.

Like ANY business out there, some days we publish articles that you agree with and some days we do not. HOWEVER, every day the same, (if not more) people come to this Site to see what's going on in our communities or around the world.

My closest and oldest personal friend is gay and I love him like a Brother and always will. We have argued about this for 40 years now, yes, I said 40 years. We agree to disagree on issues but I have no hate towards gay people whatsoever. Do I disagree with their lifestyle, yes. Do I understand it, no. I was raised in the Catholic Church and if I'm old school, well, I have a flaw, I guess, as most of us do in life. At least I'm willing to stand up for what I believe in. BUT, this does not mean I hate someone because they believe differently.

I also believe in life and experience that we as a society today do NOT know how to agree to disagree and quite frankly that is extremely unfortunate. We ALL have a place in society and I do NOT believe those who are let's say different than the "normal" should be an outcast. That being said, when the gay society chooses to lash out at someone with a Christian belief, they should be prepared and ACCEPT what the "normal" society does in fact believe.

In this case it would seem the gay people and others who support their beliefs are the ones who actually HATE when others do not support THEM.

WE can ALL get along, and we should. However, when politicians like O'Malley, (for example) shove new laws down our throats when the majority does NOT support him, we have the right to stand our ground and disagree. God Forbid we stand firm against Gay Marriage. God Forbid us bad guys actually challenge the Governor and put such a thing on referendum.

This still is America and I personally thank God we have the opportunity in this great country to be allowed such an opportunity to disagree.

In time we'll see what the outcome is in Maryland as a society and see where this brings us.

We should have a healthy debate on this issue. The personal attacks are unfortunate but what would it say about this Blog IF we were to censor ALL the comments to favor ONE SIDE?

That being said, don't hate me personally simply because we publish comments that disagree with you. Believe me, there are tens of thousands of comments we publish that I personally do NOT agree with.

What I have come to learn over all these years is that there is nowhere else, (at least on the Shore, if not the state) in which you can openly express your thoughts and opinions in such volume. You can look around the entire Internet and there are very few Blogs and MSM outlets that come anywhere close to the volume of comments we produce on a daily basis. Of course we're not going to all agree on what is said and done but one thing is for sure, each and every one of you are more educated on how we feel as a society and or as to what is "normal" or not.

In SOME states it is "normal" and legal to have more than one Wife. In MOST states, it is not. At this point in time it is not "normal" for two men or two women to marry. However, there are no laws stating they can't live together. How do many of you feel about a man living with more than one woman? There are NO laws against that, that I'm aware of. It seems this MARRIAGE thing is blown way out of hand.

The laws and rules are flawed, no question about it.

Let us together as a society decide what is right and what is wrong. Do NOT shove it down our throats as this is NOT the American way. IF gay marriage is decided by all society to be right and acceptable, then that will become law and or "normal". Until then, stop the hate on BOTH sides.

  4. When I read 10:41's comment, I thought the person was referring to the comments you posted about Jim in the article you wrote, entitled, Gays Don't Like To Kiss In Public After All".

I do not agree with you posting the rude remarks some of your viewers make concerning gay members of our community. You claim all comments are monitored so IMO when you post this trash, naming names, or insinuations, you are agreeing with the uneducated fools who make these comments.

I do not agree with gay marriage, but to each his own I say. They are not hurting me so why should I judge or condemn them? I dare say we all have gay friends or relatives we love and respect.

  7. anonymous 2:47, One has to be very careful when reading that coment. Let's make some things VERY clear here because clearly you're not smart enough to actually read this Post or are just too challenged mentally to understand what I said.

First of all, "I" did NOT reference Jim in that article, just to make it clear to everyone reading your comment. Someone may have mentioned Jim but again, that's their right. By the way, IF we're talking about Jim ireton, is he NOT gay? I seem to recall and article immediately after he was elected in a gay magazine where he actually admits to being a recently elected OPENLTY gay mayor.

Now, that being said, IS HE OR ISN'T HE? I expect an answer on that from you.

You go on to state that just because we publish someone's comment it means we must agree with it. That is the biggest crock of crap I have ever seen. I published YOURS and I don't agree with it. How stupid does that make you, or did I just spend the day in court with the very same "Idiot" yesterday?

I was told yesterday by a very successful attorney that he had never in his 30 years of practicing law ever heard a Judge call an attorney an "Idiot".

The final paragraph is the ONLY thing you should have left for a comment, in my opinion.

  8. what is the big deal, homosexually is wrong just as sex with an animal is wrong. The male anatomy was made for the female anatomy. Why is it so hard for people to understand that being gay is abnormal?

  9. Most of SBYnews listening audience is aligned to our nations grassroots founders - pure American.

That being said - one can extrapolate that SBYnews is as American as 'Applepie'. So when some fanatical group comes forward and says that it is natural for a man to be bound to a man and woman to woman - it is only AMERICAN for any true RED BLOODED AMERICAN to stand-up in protest.

We all witnessed this taking place this past week with Chic-fil-a. As one can easily tell - there are a lot more of us normal folks than the MSM would have you believe.

    LIVE ON SBYNEWS!!!

  10. Bravo Joe...this is an incremental assault...as a parish member of St Peter's Episcopal Church...I can state first hand what I feel the impetus is....and it's about separation of Church and State and how the Progressives see it vs how the Founders intended it to be...the Gay agenda has tax free endowments threatening legal action wherever it deems it necessary...yet Marriage as a Religious sacrament has become the latest instrument in the incremental assault on the nuclear family...Thank God the Boy Scouts have not capitulated...because I would hate to see the membership rolls of the BSA as empty as St Peters is...they say the cash will run out next year and that beautiful Church will be in default...I hope O'Malley is proud...

  12. I'm not sure in the society we have nowadays that anything is really "normal". It seems that every person/family has some degree of dysfunction. I do have a question for Joe & I'm not trying to be smart, I'm just curious. Does your gay friend have a significant other? If so, how do you treat/welcome him? Don't you want him to have a loving, committed relationship? I say what someone else does in their bedroom is their business. It doesn't affect me, so I can't judge.

  14. I simply do NOT understand the vitriolic HATE that consumes so many when none of it affects their own lives. (Often wanting too much in hoping they get their 15 minutes of fame---in this day and age, it will have come and gone before they even realized they had it if they ever did, so bleating like sheep doesn't count.)

About 10-15 years ago, I may have attempted to argue the point simply upon the basis of the definition of marriage.

Guess WHAT? I don't care anymore, it doesn't bother me. I live MY life, YOU live YOUR life. If you have something to SCREAM about, make it worth your while, make it about something that truly interacts with you on a daily basis, not just a public opinion.

There are a host of things to be mad about in this world and I won't even begin to list them here simply because that list is too long. Holding the nation RIVETED over who does or doesn't go to get a chicken sandwich doesn't do it for me. Go or don't.

Find something BETTER to be angry about unless you have some latent issues you are so ashamed of that you are overreacting.

America IS about freedom of speech, freedom of opinion, freedom to live. If you don't like it--LEAVE, trust me, you won't like it anywhere else in the world either.

If you feel you MUST change the world, be positive about it, don't rant or rave, get out there and help people.

    Grow UP!

Gay: having or showing a merry, lively mood: gay spirits; gay music. Synonyms: cheerful, gleeful, happy, glad, cheery etc...etc...

Nothing there about queer, unusual, abnormal, perverted, etc...

Time to call it what it is. Homosexual.

  44. I truly believe O'Malley has stepped way out of bounds by his cramming down 'Marylander's throats' that it is legal and perfectly acceptable for homosexual marriages.

O'Malley has gone way to far by trying to shove the liberal agenda belief on our traditional american values. I agree with the previous posting that it anti-american. Any red blooded american knows that the anatomy of same sex marriages is a 'freak of nature' and as such should be labeled as QUEER.

What's next? Marriage between Man and Dog? And then there will be the entitlement benefits like social security for the dogs?

Come on folks let's get real. It is high time for us normal folks to stand-up and be counted. Homosexual unions are a freak of nature and ought not be allowed.

Gay candidates victorious in municipal elections Tuesday
    http://www.gaypolitics.com/2009/04/08/gay-candidates-victorious-in-municipal-elections-tuesday/

    April 8, 2009 / Denis Dison / News, Uncategorized

Good news for gay candidates last night all across the country:

In Salisbury, Maryland, voters elected the city’s first openly gay mayor Tuesday night. Former city councilman Jim Ireton (pictured right), 39, won his race despite vile attacks from local bloggers.
NOTE: The local blogger referred to here was not Joe Albero, it was Jonathan Taylor aka Salisbury Grinch and another blogger from Delmar whose name escapes me right now.

  55. It is outrageous to DEFINE one's self by behaviors.

Homosexuality is the "act of engaging in . . . "

One may engage in certain acts or behaviors. That doesn't make the person qualitatively different from other people. Do what you do and keep it to yourself. Stop demanding special treatment because you engage in certain behaviors.

If you don't tell us about your "unnatural and unclean" acts then we can't and won't judge you. If you broadcast your immoral taboos . . . Then you will get what you deserve.

  56. We are not sensual beings. We are not our sex behaviors.

We are spiritual entities each and every one of us. There is so much more to life than getting your sexual satisfaction.

Why not focus on the important matters? Like the rigged economy, rigged elections, the convening of a Police State, global government, the loss of privacy, etc

We have cops driving 80 to "catch" us driving 65 and then they confiscate our property (money) for an illegal judicial system who leeches off our labor.

Wake up and stop crying like little girls because you get "looked at" for kissing another man in public. Stop it already!
