Citizens Are Finally Fighting Back
Sir,
Take me off your email list.
You are NOT the guy I campaigned with/for back with Terry, Tim and Debbie.
Like Louis Smith, you have changed sides in a drastic way.
Suckered us, didn’t you
From: Jim Ireton

To: Jim Ireton
Subject: I need your help
Friends, At the most recent Salisbury City Council work session, the Council Leadership slapped down our revitalization plan for the downtown. In case you are unfamiliar with it, here's a link to the proposal:
Now I need your help...
I've created an online petition, asking that the Council Leadership pass this plan, and I need you to sign it. In fact, I need you to forward it to all of your friends that want to see this plan passed. It is high time that the Council Leadership stop giving us excuses. It's high time that they stop saying NO to anything and everything positive that we try to accomplish. It's time that the Council Leadership hears from you. Here is the petition:
Publishers Notes: Ladies & Gentlemen, Mayor Ireton is abusing his Office to influence others to also attack the City Council. This is exactly what I want to change as your next Mayor.
Like a little girl, Jim Ireton is crying to mommy and poppy because he doesn't have control of the PUBLIC sandbox. While some of you point fingers at me by stating I'm involved in this childish game, you are wrong. It is my job to expose NEWS and this message is news. The reply letter above is drafted by a Salisbury Resident who is fed up with Ireton's games.
Best be VERY careful Folks because all Ireton is doing is setting up a campaign mailing list. No one would be childish enough to actually put their name behind such a petition unless there's something in it for them down the road. He wants to know, how many people support him and should he move forward with another run for office. It's right out of the Obama Liberal Playbook.
I promise you, if elected I will never put the citizens through this kind of crap. It's time to get a real man in the Mayor's Office.
I sent a similar reply.
ReplyDeleteNot me! I love getting his ridiculous stuff. I then tell all my friends so they will know how ridiculous he is!
ReplyDeleteIt's time to get a real man in the Mayor's Office.
ReplyDeleteAmen!
How he has is tricks and no real plan for us.
ReplyDeleteIf elected?
ReplyDeleteYou are going to be elected!
Don't forget, his pal Laura Mitchell is in on this.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if other town's deal with this kind of stuff?
ReplyDeleteAs far as our entire family goes - we will all be voting BOB -(Best of Breed) - ALBERO FOR MAYOR.
ReplyDeleteIreton's type of shenanigans - (petition drive) - is nothing more than a campaign gimmicks. Folks - wake-up, Albero has something better to offer Salisbury.
Not a Salisbury resident, but whenever I see any email that says 'send this to all your friends' the next key I hit is Delete.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone tell me what Jim has done for Salisbury?
ReplyDeleteI heard he is trying to take credit for the fireworks. FTH is wrong with this guy?

Yeah NOTHING!
I am really starting to dislike this Guy!
ReplyDeleteIs it April yet?
ReplyDeleteJim makes excuses for everything he can't complete. It is always someone else fault. He doesn't know how to work with people.
ReplyDeleteWho is advising Jim?
ReplyDeleteOr does he come up this crap himself?
Chuck Cook and Laura Mitchell are his advisors. Laura is another one that has done nothing for Salisbury other than go to MML meetings and gather signatures on petitions. Obamanistas doing what they do best...NOTHING!
DeleteCall Holloway Funeral Home because Jim's Political Career is DEAD!
ReplyDeleteJim you are starting to give me a headache.
ReplyDeleteBoo-Hoo!
ReplyDeleteI guess we will have another press conference.
Hey Mr. Mayor I have a glass of warm milk for you. It is bedtime. Sweet Dreams.
ReplyDeleteIf Jim makes me bang my head one more time I am going to have a Concussion.

Ditto, triple Ditto.
His plan has no substance. A plan like this should include examples of where this plan has been a success. Example similar to not only the population of Salisbury but also the demographics of Salisbury.
ReplyDeleteIt was nothing more than ideas on paper.
What's even more amazing is The Chamber supporting a plan with such lack of information in it.
Salisbury does not need another experiment like the WWTP.
The e-mail that bashed Debbie, Terry and Tim is what did it for me. I didn't read most of those e-mails, just caught this one and it's content made me also request to be removed from the list.
ReplyDeleteI was tolorating them, now I don't want no parts of that BS
Dear Mr. Albert Bero
ReplyDeleteI have recently moved into the area and have been following this mayoral race closely. All I have been hearing is Al Bero this, Al Bero that. I wanted to let you know that you have my support next year!
The problem with this revitilation plan is that affordable (subsidized) high density housing and "walkability" (people want their cars) has failed just about everywhere.
ReplyDeletePedestrian-friendly is car hostile also. More than 200 cities followed the fad of downtown pedestrian malls and almost all of them have reopened to vehicles.
I want BIG visions for Salisbury, not section 8 housing and affordable housing.
ReplyDeleteI want to be a Mayor that can help DELIVER great paying jobs and guess what Folks, that can't be done in big volume with what we currently have.
We need a Busch Gardens, an indoor water park, BIG ideas. We need to partner with the County and create jobs that can provide enough income we won't NEED more section 8 and affordable housing.
The state wants to open up gambling so they can get the quick buck.
People like Tilghman and Ireton are slowing us down and keeping us DEPENDENT!!!! Sound like Obama?
A part time Mayor will only deliver quick fixes, period. They're impressed with small town ideas.
I'm telling you Folks, I have plans. Very exciting plans. Just come by my Office and we can discuss them. Believe me, my plans for Salisbury aren't just ideas for Downtown.
I met a couple tonight visiting from West Virginia. They are spending two weeks in Ocean City but came out here 4 days early and couldn't find reasonable enough rates in Ocean City so they decided to stay here in Salisbury. They seemed to be very pleased with $100.00 a night rates for their family of 4. I explained some of the cool things there are to do in Salisbury and they were very excited.
What they mentioned that stuck with me was that OC is only 1/2 hour away. IF we start providing OPTIONS for people and marketed them we could easily enjoy more restaurant traffic, hotel traffic, entertainment traffic. Rather than sitting back waiting for things to happen, (which won't happen) we'll slowly become a ghost town well behind other areas thinking ahead.
I'm not going to waste my time making trips to Annapolis to support things like gay marriage, (not that there's anything wrong with gay marriage, politically speaking) I'd rather be in Williamsburg talking to the Busch Corporation exploring possible interests in their future plans. I'd go to the Great Lodge and see if they're interested in expanding. And NO, it wouldn't be on your dime. I'm interested in the CHALLENGE. I want to get the ball rolling for US. I'm not interested in making a political name for myself for the future like some people we know.
For those of you sick and tired of watching people use food stamp cards at WalMart and so forth, we NEED to all come together and figure out ways to make things better. We can't do that with the liberals we have in Office. If you know me well enough I tell it like it is.
If you want to hear more, stop by my Office and we'll discuss REAL plans and REAL ideas.
So he wants to sell everything. Then what do we do next? Joe I have read some of your ideas and I honestly have to say you are what is needed in this area to turn things around.
ReplyDeleteGreat comment Joe. If anyone can make changes it is YOU.
ReplyDeleteI have seen the drive and passion you have for SBYnews. I know that you will apply the same passion to the job of Mayor. There is Great Things ahead for all of us.
ReplyDeleteAlbero For President!
ReplyDeleteJoe you should make that comment a article because I think everyone should read it. Awesome ideas you are coming up with. I will add you have the best platform to run a campaign. Best of luck to you my friend.
ReplyDeleteJoe you know how to work with people. That is something Jim forgot to learn I am sorry to say.
ReplyDeleteDon't expose too much Joe. Ireton will steal your ideas and claim them as his own.
ReplyDeleteI truly admire you for seeing the whole picture. Not everyone can do that.

You said that right. Tomorrow Jim will have a Press Release.
Thanks for posting this Joe. If not for you, we would not know of all the craziness going on.
ReplyDeleteWhen the time comes I would love to help you with your campaign drive. You have so much support out here Joe.
ReplyDeleteHot off the presses. We have a new Mayor in town and his name is Mr. Albero. And the crowd goes wild!
ReplyDeleteWhy is it when democrats don't get their way blame someone else. Ireton ,will soon blame George Bush for his failures. I think he should skip over to Rehoboth Beach and have a beer with Anderson Cooper.
ReplyDeleteHey I like Anderson Cooper.
ReplyDeleteWe Love You Joe!

I stand behind the Council Abused Three. Can you imagine what this bozo has put them through? "Agree with me or I'll wage war on you!"
ReplyDeleteHow they have been able to stay calm and get their work done is amazing. Ireton should be ashamed.
I got the same email from him. I checked several of the people who "liked" his request.

10:09 --
ReplyDeleteIreton, Mitchell and Cook are all Obamanistas, but what they do best, if allowed to, is tax and spend. Fortunately, the Council majority won't let them do those things as much as they would like.
Debbie, Terry and Tim should be alert that Ireton and Mitchell may try to use City funds to pay for their frip to the Democrat convention -- where the are delegates committed to Obama -- or some of their dalliances while there. No doubt Cook will be going too.
Who's the people that want section 8 housing downtown. They should be run out of town!
ReplyDeleteJoe-you seem to belittle people that use food stamps on a frequent basis, just as you did again @ 8:59. I am one of those people because I have a wife & 4 kids and decent jobs around here are scarce. There's mostly grunt jobs, especially in O.C. While some people do not put forth any effort into working and enjoy living on welfare, I do not.
ReplyDeleteMost of the jobs on the Eastern Shore are within hostile work environments and an top of that, greedy & unscrupulous business owners reap all the rewards while they pay their employees S%$t & treat them even S%$ttier.
This area pays VERY S&*tty wages compared to other regions in Maryland. You know why? Because most (not all) area business owners realize that the unemployment rate on the Eastern Shore is the HIGHEST (especially in fall & winter) compared to other Maryland regions, and the unscrupulous business owners realize this and take advantage of it by...paying their employees S%$t & treat them even s%$ttier.
anonymous 7:18, I said in my article that IF people are tired of seeing people use such indipendence cards we must ALL work together to create an environment in which they won't be necessary any more.
ReplyDeleteHow you find that belittling is beyond me but I respect your statement.
I grew up as a child in a position in which we should have been on welfare and food stamps. My Family was too proud. Instead, we started working at 13 and 14 years old just to bring in anmything we could to help feed the Family.
Today I am very proud of who we are and what we achieved. My intent is to bring BETTER paying jobs here to the Shore. Enough pay that those businesses you mention treating you and others poorly have to change their ways or go out of business.
Are you going to see that happen with a Mayor who wants to clean the river in 10 years so people can swim in it??? NO! His projects are all about spending and NOT about economic and development, unless that means section 8 and affordable housing, that is.
One day I hope you'll be able to come to me and say, thanks. I hope to hear you were able to find a better paying job and no longer participate in a food stamp program. That is my goal. The programs are there, just as they were for my Family back in the early 1970's because no American should ever go hungry. However, NO American should ever grow fat because of that program either.
I hope this helps explain my position.
7:18
ReplyDeletethat's the problem with the food stamp generation
"grunt jobs"??
apparently you're not that hungry are you?
back in my day, i could have been on food stamps, but the difference between you and me is i got a "grunt job" and worked my way out
you on the other hand, just sit back and complain and take from guys like me who DO the grunting
do us all a favor, move to DC
Questiom. How would a theme park work in Salisbury with OC only 30 mins. away. Please explain.
ReplyDeleteanonymous 7:51, You are kidding me, right?????
ReplyDeleteHow does Busch Garde\ns work 30 miles outside of Virginia Beach!
How does Disney World work 30 miles outside of Orlando.
The idea is to attract more people to the Shore. Now think for just a minute. With all of the Delegates throughout the state fighting against the poultry industry, we're only going to be able to hold on for just a little bit longer. There are NO new chicken houses being built, use your head. Once the industry dries up, what's left?
We have plenty of prime property to bring a quality company to the Shore. The IDEA is to help support us with enough taxes in which we can continue to live a quality life here. I'm not suggesting a Busch Gardens in the center of Salisbury. But it wouldn't bee to hateful just off the Bypass somewhere, right? If you disagree, I'm cool with that.
Nevertheless, to answer your question, it would easily survive here.
July 6, 2012 7:18 AM I don't see where Joe Albero is belittling food stamps.
ReplyDeleteHowever, what I do see is you taking advantage of this program because you refuse to work. You make several comments to justify you you deserve to be on food stamps by complaining about jobs. What I ask you to do is suck it up cupcake and work 3 jobs if you have to. It was your decision to procreate and have those kids, not ours. It is your responsibility to feed those kids, not ours. It is your responsibility to get a job and pay your fair share of taxes.
Like I said "SUCK IT UP CUPCAKE!"
Joe- You know better than I that
ReplyDeleteIreton's full of it. I believe that you can beat him handily in a mayoral race.
As always, we know who is scheming on the sidelines: Dunn and company. He is basking in the afterglow of the fireworks, which, to be fair, were great for the Bury. He resides in town. He has the resources to win a mayoral race.
He is the one to watch.
I'm on board with your campaign, and you now have my full support, but man, you better be ready for some dirty shit coming down the pike!
What ever happened to the water park that was coming just off Rt. 50?

Is Jim Ireton trying to turn this town into the Homosexual Capital of the East Coast?
Joe-thanks for explaining & clarifying what you meant. Sometimes one's statements are misunderstood. I've been criticized for being on food stamps. Mostly because many lazy people with no ambition and purpose in life do take advantage of the system and sponge off the state and food stamps while they either lay around and do nothing all day or get jobs that pay under the table.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the ignorant, bullying & childish comments of 7:49, let me explain to you as slowly as I can since you appear to be an uneducated ShoreBilly...I never lived in DC and I DO have a grunt job that pays $10/hour, which is $18/hour less than the national average. That is why this area consists mostly of wealthy people or poor people and the middle-class is an "endangered species." Most jobs around here pay $H&tty!
Lastly, this is a free country so quit dictating where people should live. This is NOT your land and the only real estate you will EVER own on this Earth is 50-100 years from now in the piece of land that surrounds you 6' under...just like the rest of us Mr. Dictator.

ReplyDeleteI'm on board with your campaign, and you now have my full support, but man, you better be ready for some dirty shit coming down the pike!
Really? I think everyone Joe has come across has tried that trick and where are they now I ask you, Where are they now?
Orlando is a city, not an amusement park. People come here mostly for the beach, so they will stay at the beach. How does that help Salisbury, jobs you say, minimum wage at best. just my opinion. ( here is where Joe calls me an idiot)
ReplyDeleteanonymous 8:08, If Mike Dunn wants to throw his hat into the ring, so be it. It will NOT change what I will bring to the table.
ReplyDeleteOne thing each and every one of you will realize is that Joe Albero is a complete 180 from Barrie Tilghman, Jim Ireton or Mike Dunn. IF the citizens want the same old crap, vote for them, seriously.
What most don't realize is the fact that I do NOT need the job. I have proven 365 days a year for several years now that I am NOT afraid of hard work. I have been up against a Gannett Newspaper and Network Television and look at where we stand today, bigger than any one of them on the Shore. While we grow, they sink.
Salisbury News doesn't have to bring in a big shot from Rochester New York, we're the REASON why Gannett had to do so.
That being said, IF the citizens want me, they'll vote for me. If they don't, they won't. But don't you ever thing for a second I'll be heart broken because I didn't win.
Remember, "This is not Joe Albero's election to lose, it's the citizens election to lose".

ReplyDeleteMaybe in your FREE time while you are not working you can go back to school and understand how to read. Why do you naysayers always twist Joe words to mean something so wrong?
Anon 8:08...you must be another ignorant, bullying & uneducated ShoreBilly that needs to read my comment to 7:49.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Joe as far as theme parks, as well as somehow attracting Fortune 500 companies that will create jobs and pay REAL wages to establish themselves in the area. There's a TON of unused land here that needs to be utilized to improve the region's horrific unemployment rate.
"This is not Joe Albero's election to lose, it's the citizens election to lose".
ReplyDeleteLove Your Campaign Slogan
Anonymous 8:14am
ReplyDeletePlease allow me the honor!
IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why did you take down the wwtp post?
ReplyDeleteanonymous 8:14, Ocean City is the KING of minimum wage jobs and lots of them.
ReplyDeleteYes, there would be some lower paying jobs just like ANY business. However, the FACT that you can't see beyond the tip of your nose, who maintains those rides, not minimum wage people. Who manages the staff at least two shifts a day.
Obama, (your hero) has delivered us into bankruptcy and MANY retired people are back to work and would enjoy a job directing parking and so forth.
These retired Folks don't want to wait tables in Ocean City.
You liberals HATE when someone with vision who actually wants to turn the Shore around comes up with better ideas and a better direction.
I can't even believe you would attempt to crush such an idea, like it would hurt us in some way.
I heard he tries to make his employees sign this and every other petition he and Laura have come with. Is this true?
ReplyDeleteThe WWTP post is scheduled for 3:15 PM and not 3:15 AM.
ReplyDeleteThat's exciting news. A theme park would be great here.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of help do you need for your campaign. I will be down to your office today for a bumper sticker and a tee shirt.
ReplyDeleteYour idea's are some of the most forward thinking I have heard. In some ways you remind me of Walt Disney. If not for him Florida would not be what it is today. I believe these things can work and with a positive attitude they will. I would say Good Luck to you Joe but somehow I honestly don't think you need it.
ReplyDeleteDo you have any T-Shirt left Joe?
ReplyDeleteI will say this about you Joe Albero you sure do know how to get people talking. I am at work, the store, my family. All over the town people are saying "Did you see The Blog today?"
ReplyDeleteI need everyone to spread the word that I intend to run. The local media isn't going to spare any time or space on my behalf, although they should if they were smart. If I'm too busy running the City, I won't have so much time to Blog, right?
ReplyDeleteRemember, this is a 2 year term. If elected I will come out of the gate full speed. The turn around will be quick and swift.
Thanks for the support.
I have about 30 tee shirts left and we're hoping to get a LOT more soon. There's still a great selection left so COME ON DOWN! I'll be here until around noon today.
ReplyDeleteBeing an SU student I can tell you a lot of us hope you get elected. We are hearing some rumors about your idea for the Downtown area and we are stoke. Count Us in !
ReplyDeleteWE LOVE YOU JOE!
Dear SU Student, the idea is pretty cool, isn't it. It's a project I'm very proud of. If you need any details AWAY from any rumors I'd be happy to talk to you face to face about it.
ReplyDeleteSU is a BIG part of my plans. MANY local businesses are excited about it and are searching out available space already.
Keep this at the top today Joe.
ReplyDeleteI work at Walmart and I see Albero t-shirts all the time. You have a lot of support and a lot of us live in Salisbury. Mr. Boda doesn't like us talking about you but we don't care. That would be so cool to get a job at a theme park. Albero for mayor.
ReplyDeleteWe will never support Jim Ireton again. You have this election hands down. There are quite a few people afraid to say anything to Iretons face but the word is many of us have grown tired of his childish behavior. Yes Joe, we need a real man as mayor and neither Jim Ireton or Mike Dunn fit the bill.
ReplyDeleteI heard you've already spoken to the people at Busch. Is there more to this then we already know. Keep up the great work Joe.
ReplyDeleteanonymous 9:02, I plead the 5th. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWho does Jim Ireton impress getting all of his Gay, Lesbian, Homosexual and Transgender friends from D.C. and Delaware to sign this trivial little petition. It means nothing. It's just like the Obamanistas thinking they can fool decent citizens by getting dead people to vote. The only petition I am signing is a Recall Petition against Jim Ireton.
ReplyDeleteSigned

Joe Thank You are all you are trying to do. We are the future of this Country and we believe in your vision. Thanks again for your response.
ReplyDeleteHas crime really gone down in Salisbury or we just not hearing about it?
ReplyDeleteJust as I thought, you CANNOT have a civil conversation with someone that disagrees with you. As for Obama, nice try. As far as an amusement park, stupid idea. I will see you on your campaign, you can't handle loaded questions. Good luck, your going to need it.
ReplyDeleteI wish he would just step down now!!!
ReplyDeleteanonymous 9:11, bring it on. The real problem is, YOU people are scared to death that I CAN handle tough questions.
ReplyDeleteLet me state to you what a local Judge had to say about me not that long ago.
He said, I may not like Mr. Albero's direct answers but one thing I can tell you, he's honest.
I look forward to meeting all you ghosts hiding behind anonymous.

Ok, so here we go again. I bet anything you are the same person who always says "Can't wait to see you there", and you never show your face. Please go away so the rest of us can have a decent life.
Hey 910, I can't wait to meet your kind too.
ReplyDeleteWe do need a real man in office. Running down the beach at night with your clothes off in Rehoboth and getting caught by the police isn't a real man. Sending out petitions like this isn't the kind of man I want in office. I changed enough diapers in my day.
ReplyDeleteDid I say I was going to be physical with Joe? NO. You people become so defensive when someone disagrees with your new pet. Joe has been bashing this area and it's people close to 7 years now. I have had enough and so have many others. His Hitler approach will doom this area. And I will stay annon. so my family and I don't become tabloid foder. Joe I am not scared of you. You will not bully me. See you in the papers.
ReplyDeleteI looked at someone's facebook invitation to the petition event. Out of almost 3000 people invited, only 143 had comfirmed that they would attend, and half of those people didn't even live in Salisbury. Some were from Georgia and further away. What a joke.
ReplyDeleteDon't let your mouth write checks your butt can't cash.
anonymous 9:34, the only bully I see is the one using "anonymous".
ReplyDeleteYou are perfectly welcome to your opinion, as am I. The only difference between you and me is, I have my name on everything I put out there. Therefore I own it and I've never been afraid to openly discuss it with any one of you.
Other commenters made a good point. I announce where I'm going and where I'll be. YOU have always had an open opportunity to confront me. Did YOU actually think I'd go to forums and be afraid of people who disagree with me?
You don't have to agreew with me and you don't have to vote for me. You have every right to encourage others NOT to vote for me, I'm cool with that.
If I win, great. I'll be very busy for two years proving that people like you have been very wrong about me. If I don't win, oh well, no skin off my back. The job pays $25,000.00 a year. THINK about that.
Let's just see how sick and tired people are of the Tilghman, Comegys, Smith, Cathcart, Ireton and Dunns of the Shore.
Ok Joe, I have to say that though I have been tempted to quit reading the blog because of the relentless bickering and arguing, The more I read about your ideas for Salisbury, and God knows you are persistent :), the more I support you for Mayor.
ReplyDeleteJoe, I can't "own" my comment because you and your followers will go on attack mode. Answer me this, how come 95% (give or take) of your followers and/or mayoral supporters use anonymous? Think about that.
ReplyDeleteanonymous 10:02, you make a valid point. However, what I'm trying to say is, at least I am willing to put my name on the line. I am willing to make sacrifices to run for Mayor. You at least owe me that respect.
ReplyDeleteThat, I do respect about you. You do have large onions. lol ( no offense intended)
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Joe, Mr. Anon 9:34. You are acting like an immature self-righteous hypcorite by referring to him as a bully when you yourself are bullying him.
ReplyDeleteWhile I agree with Joe on many issues, I disagree with him many as well but he is not comparable to Hitler as you claim he is.
I am well-versed in the pyschology field, and judging from your futile and 3rd Grade-type idle scare tactics and name-calling I am willing to bet the farm that you are an insecure and cowardly person.
Thanks, anonymous 10:21, you've proved my point.
ReplyDeleteAnon 10:02-you are a hypocrite as well. We choose to remain anonymous because the "Albero-Haters" will go on "attack mode" as well.
ReplyDeleteMost of these long-time local yocals within the "I don't want any changes on MY Eastern Shore" in the "Good Ole Boys Network" will retaliate by harrassing us, and threatening our jobs, taunting our families. These people act like big babies when people that are not included within their outdated network express their opinions that they do not agree with. They even LITERALLY get away with MURDER just as Hale Harrison did when he drove a little kid off the rode. What a MANIAC that MONSTER is!
Terry, Debbie, Shanie and Tim shot down Iretons tax increase and balanced the budget without it. Ireton needs to grow up and stop playing games like this. It happens often because he's a loser.
ReplyDeleteI will supply Mr. Ireton a few shovels , as he's digging hisself deeper and deeper. What an idiot leader.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe he was allowed to teach our children.

Joe has also proven his dedication. No one ever thought Sby News would thrive and it has not only thrived but grown which takes massive amounts of dedication.
Ireton , a fish out of water , flopping around for air.
ReplyDeleteThe mayors tax hike was cut by a super majority 4 to 1 vote. The mayor and Mitchell like to point fingers at Campbell, Cohen and Spies, while Shannie also voted to not raise taxes.
ReplyDeleteKudos to all four. We all know Shannie would usually vote opposite Campbell and Cohen in the past, I take it she felt very strongly to vote down Ireton's budget.
The reason Ireton wants low income housing downtown: to follow a plan to relocate all the low income housing on the west side of the river, so it can be flipped and sold as high dollar river front property.
There are already some McMansions just a stones throw from the WWTP on the river. So don't let anyone fool you that those old run down homes on the west side don't have futuristic value.
They just need to get the current dwellers out first.
I respect the fact that Joe wants to encourage people to do better and not fall into the welfare trap. Ireton wants it because these people will vote for him if they think he's trying to build them cheap rental homes. The overwhelming majority will vote for Joe because he has better ideas.
ReplyDeleteI don't see Ireton's reasoning (nor the committee or the Chamber) for even proposing affordable housing in Salisbury. This is not a need. There are plenty of rent subsidized, Section 8, income based rentals.
ReplyDeleteAll they did was take an out of date idea du jour, and applied it to Salisbury without even considering if it is needed or not.
His plan is a general concept. Revitalization plans are not one size fits all and that's what his plan is.
Another thing this area needs is for area schools (including high schools) to educate people on how to run their own business. They mostly educate or youth/adults on how to work for someone else for their entire lives. Take Wor-Wic college for example. ZERO classes on how to develop a website, hot to create a business plan, etc. Just classes on how to work for a hotel, restaurant, hospital, the police, etc. We need more entrepreneurs and to teach our children how to be successful at being entrepreneurs!
ReplyDeleteAmerica and the Eastern Shore is in dire need of more small local businesses and entrepreneurs who will control their own destinies, rather than allowing jobs with the state, government, and corporations to control when people work, how much they earn, and when to decide to lay them off or fire them.
I see an amusement park as being capable of becoming a success in the Salisbury area.
ReplyDeleteIt's an idea that would most likely take advantage of several vacations spots nearby-of course OC and also Chincoteague. People would drive the 30 miles from OC to visit a well known, like Busch Gardens, amusement park.
Salisbury does have the advantage of having Ocean City 30 miles away and that should be capitalized on as much as possible.
I agree with 12:07!
ReplyDeleteAn amusement park in the Salisbury area would do very well in my opinion, and would also ignite more successful businesses to venture in the area and be a HUGE benefit for the entire Eastern & Lower Shore region of MD.
Jim just wants you to play nice. Then he calls you a homophobe, a racist and a bigot. Talk about a potty mouth.
ReplyDeleteKeep this at the top please.
ReplyDeleteMove this to the top and group them please. We need to keep the citizens informed.

ReplyDeleteI am really starting to dislike this Guy!

Starting? I started to dislike him the very night he was sworn in. He started praising Barrie Tilghman and pledged to name a road after her. What an idiot suck up. Just like a liberal democrat.

ReplyDeleteAnon 8:08...you must be another ignorant, bullying & uneducated ShoreBilly that needs to read my comment to 7:49.

Like I said get off your lazy butt and get a job or 3. Quit sponging off us hard workers. You put your little boyhood in something that created something you can't take care of. Take ownership and learn responsibility.

ReplyDeleteHas crime really gone down in Salisbury or we just not hearing about it?
July 6, 2012 9:11 AM
NO it is not down.
Go to spotcrime.com and sign up for email alerts to crime in your area. You will be horrified at how much crime goes on within 2 miles of your home.

ReplyDeleteWe do need a real man in office. Running down the beach at night with your clothes off in Rehoboth and getting caught by the police isn't a real man. Sending out petitions like this isn't the kind of man I want in office. I changed enough diapers in my day.

HaHaHaHa!!
On second thought I am offended by that mental image!!
I didn't know the clown was running away from the police with no clothes on. UGH!
@3:49-Sounds like you're really working hard today.
ReplyDeleteWorking hard at being ignorant that is.
wow, 121 comments.
ReplyDeleteI didn't count them but I would bet that most of them are ignorant, insulting, under-educated, off topic and just plain stupid.
How about we start a petition to make people friendly?
Yeah, I know. Too much trouble for the small amount of success.

What do you think you are doing with a comment like that?
Crap like that is PAST old. It is over used and has no more meaning other than to show the ignorance of the one posting it.
Grow up and just stop it. It's not necessary, not warranted, and probably false.
I know it won't happen but people need to talk to each other like they would talk to Jesus Christ.
You never know when you may be talking to Him. When you do something for the least of man, you are also doing it to Him.
Have a nice day and be happy. That just screws with everyone's head.
Goodnight and God bless.
I am so glad you brought these back. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI wish the mayor's buddy Shanie would tell him to get rid of his petition. If she is so worried about being a "laughing stock" this must concern her greatly or should.
ReplyDeleteWhen a sitting mayor of a city, puts together an online petition and half of those signing are using obviously fake names that's something that will give everyone a laugh.
Maybe that Howdy Doody on the petiton was Mike Dunn using his AKA
