Delegate Jim Gilchrist, both of Montgomery County, have filed a bill to expand Maryland's 6 percent sales tax to 29 additional services.
Those include haircuts, tax preparation (oh, the irony), vehicle repairs, cable TV (including pay-per-view), even escort services.
Shoe repairs, tanning, massages and your gym membership will cost a little more, as will a dieting service, extermination, lab testing, employee- or temp-agency services, and property management.
And under the bill you'll pay 6 cents on every dollar for auctioneer services, hiring an interior decorator, or having a sign painted.
The tax will also apply to anyone who pays for business consulting services, including public relations.
Feeling queasy yet? We are.
