Sounds like a good shoot to me. This nut was endangering everyone. Probably tried to run over them as they approached the car. If that was the case, I would have done the same thing. I am sure both officers used good judgement, and most importantly, protected the public, and made it home safe themselves.
A "stuck" car will often move back and forth some, are you going to rise your life that the wheels will not suddenly find enough traction to run over you as he guns the motor?
It was an old disabled man trying to grab his cane.he probly wasn't running but had a medical problem such as diabetes that can make you lose judgement. These cops just saw him reach.that was it.they never saw anything.the two cops are wrong. Period.they never identified a life threat before using lethal force.and before you accuse me of being a cop hater .I am a cop.
Press release fails to mention the crack pipe in the car and that one officer was merely shooting the tire in an attempt to stop the vehicle from continually ramming/attempting to flee again.
Regardless. Cop or no cop. Criminal or no criminal. Several lives are forever changed. The choices of everyone involved will be something that each will have to live and die with.
You can't have it both way people. Mr. Diaz cannot be innocent until proven guilty if you are not willing to extend the same to the officers. This is a fundamental right on which our country was built.
Why would the officer be trying to shoot a tire when his tires were already blown out from the stop strips? He wouldn't!!! And before you make judgements, know the facts!!! Terry was not the one in the truck at the nursing home.
Car refuses to stop... rams MSP vehicles several times... vehicle forced off road with road spikes and a rolling road block... refuses repeated verbal commands to show his hands... continues to rev engine... Troopers approach vehicle weapons drawn... repeated commands for a of show hands... driver reaches for long thin dark object and pulls it up from seat...and in the median of Rt13 (dark rainy) Troopers shoot Driver dead. I would have done the same thing. MSP did what they are trained to do. My thoughts go out to the young Troopers, that in the course of a days work, were put in the position to have to take a mans life.

ReplyDelete2:22 It said he was stuck. You can't run over anyone if you can't go anywhere.
