"A firearm has not been recovered."
According to a recently released Maryland State Police Press Release, no weapon was found on the scene of the Princess Anne homicide.
Today the MSP are scrambling to different meetings with the local Media. The state troopers who fired their weapons at the scene are identified as Trooper Ryan Watkins and Trooper First Class Carl Tyler, who are both assigned to road patrol duties at the Princess Anne Barrack. Trooper Watkins has been with the State Police for three years and TFC Tyler is a four year veteran.
I want to make something very clear here. I have spoken to numerous Officers who stated this was a suicide. I also talked to the head of the Maryland State Police who confirmed they have NOT found a weapon.
The investigation continues and this is not as open and shut as we had learned this morning.
New Posts to fall below.
Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha. Let the show begin. No gun and stuck in a ditch. Is that murder???
ReplyDeletewhere are the boneheads who were sticking up for the police now?
ReplyDeleteagreed!!!!!! trigger happy cops on edge because of what happened in Cambridge yesterday. but don't worry, the officers will never have to answer for their actions because they "took care" the only one who could have shed more info on the situation.
DeleteTwenty five million.
ReplyDeleteI always see the Princess Anne troopers on the road doing crazy stuff while driving without their lights on. I couldn't believe it when I saw one showboating for his buddy behind him by going around traffic stoped at the 13 light and just darting thru, I think they might be getting a little arrogant down there.
ReplyDeletedo we know the identity of the victim yet?
ReplyDeleteTyler has a reputation for being a hothead. He is just like his father.
ReplyDelete12;07. they're here reading! teacher man's giving them a lesson on how to turn the truth around to justify the killing of an UNARMED easternshore borned and raised man!
ReplyDeleteIf he pointed a finger at me and I assumed it were a gun , then sad on his butt.
ReplyDeleteAlways two sides of the story , the last few comments are from idiots.
If you want me to shoot you , then just aim anything at me that looks like a gun. Your dead meat.
First, the "weapon" was his vehicle!!!! Without the police and their quick reaction to what was happening, the driver going extremely fast on wet roads could easily have killed innocent drivers. Secondly, have you looked at the dead criminals rap sheet?????!!!!! Seriously, he should have been in jail or rehab along time ago!! Let's wait for the facts before you start condemning the officers.
ReplyDeleteyeah,it was terry diaz! probably read his tag number, found out who he was,and then became little scared punks! he wasn't an angel, and he wasn't all bad either! he surely deserved a court date not an assination! i'm not bashing all cops! mike lewis killed a man cause he didn't have any other choice! these two guys had a choice! terry didn't.
ReplyDelete12:28, I think your comment is unfounded. I don't consider him to have that reputation.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that there are two officers that made the decision to fire reinforces that it was a just decision. I'm sure the circumstances will come out, all of this speculation without the facts is just ridiculous.
So, the facts so far,
ReplyDeleteNo weapon, no suicide, just someone running from police HARASSMENT which no doubt instigated this brutal homicide. And, no doubt an eventual MURDER by COP.
What an outrage for these pigs to concoct a story like this to cover their butts for murder!!!
Just wait, they will spew propaganda insinuating what a criminal this now DEAD guy was.
This is sickening.
No gun found! Troopers assassinate unarmed Somerset County citizen.
ReplyDeleteGuess what only three people know what happened and one is six foot under. O well, prove it was murder. For those commenting you have no idea.
ReplyDeleteGotta be a dash cam tape, wonder who has that.
ReplyDeleteAs a former police officer I can see this from both points of view. Was this a bad shooting....very possible. Was this a bad shooting....also very possible. Let's see what the investigation shows. What irritates me the most is how everyone has names for the police officers involved or cops in general. When you have a problem or need help who do you call? You call the police then expect to be there immediately and solve your problems which they will do their best to do. When you don't need them they are worthless SOB's
ReplyDeleteThese "numerous officers who stated this was a suicide", were they on the scene during the event? If not, they're commenting on a heresay accounting of what happened, just like you.
ReplyDeleteNo comment until more info recieved.
ReplyDeleteBUT once again my plea to equip officers with mini vidio cams with audio recording. These units are 1/4 the size of a cell phone and will record up to 12 hours. If we had these cameras then we would ALWAYS know if a shooting was justified. God bless the police.
i disagree. this was definaetly a suicide. he was stupid. he got shot. if he wasnt stupid and doing illegal stuff, he wouldnt have gotten shot. just like a criminal breaking into my home, thatll most likely be a suicide mission for the thief.
ReplyDelete@2:00 Illegal stuff? Your a moron. Sitting in your car illegal now in MD?
ReplyDelete1:59 COPS do not want video.... then they will not be able to lie to cover their crimes...
There was a long black cane with brass handle on the seat.
ReplyDeleteThis guy may well have been trying to commit suicide but NO WEAPON come on these cops had no cause to fire on him. By their own press release the individual was still in the blazer accelerating trying to get away. He was not a threat to them in any way! If he had been a threat they would still have been in their patrol cars. As their report reads there were Two other troopers there as well as Somerset deputies. THIS WAS A BAD SHOOTING on the part of MSP!
ReplyDeleteReally people, he was running from the police and running his car in to the police cars. Not to mention that the weather was horrible, so he was putting many peoples lives at stake just because he was stupid enough not to stop. Do you not remember what happened to Eddie Plank not even a mile from the scene...Seriously, do we have to wait for a dumba#$ to grab a gun to shoot our men who are out there serving you all. I am disgusted with anyone who questions this.
ReplyDelete2:25
ReplyDeleteHe WAS putting many peoples lives at stake. However when he was shot he was not moving. The press release states he was stuck.
2:13 pm
ReplyDeleteAs for now I don't have an opinion one way or the other. Some Cops are good and Cops are bad.
The reason I am a proponent of the personal cameras is that all incidents will be recorded, with no chance of altering what the camera sees. Then the public will better understand reasons and motives. If a shooting is not justified then it is murder.
As 18th century english law permitted.....A few good public hangings will keep the masses in order.
ReplyDeleteTo me it sounds like a couple of young and dumb hillbilly Princess Anne Barney Fife-type trigger-happy IDIOT hillbilly cops who need to face JUSTICE and be charged with 1st Degree MURDER.
ReplyDeleteMost of these Eastern Shore hillbillies need to stick to being watermen and NOT cops!
We need to be honest and calm. We were not there and we have no way to confirm the circumstances. The Troopers I know are good honest family men dedicated to protecting us from injury and criminals. I'm sure these two Troopers are devastated by this tragic incident regardless of what many may think or say. We need to stand together as a community and not carelessly pass judgement. Whatever the circumstances, many will be effected by this tragedy.
ReplyDeleteI know Carl Tyler personally. He is a very good person. He is a local and would not just murder someone for no reason. I have known him since he was a child. I usually am one to get on here and bash the police for how they handle specific situations. But this situation seems to be extreme. They guy was fleeing from the police and was causing danger to all of those who were on the roadway at that time. I have no idea abou the gun situation, but I can personally tell you that Carl Tyler is a good human being and that he never "murdered" anyone.
ReplyDeleteNone of you were there. Their cars are equiped with cameras and record sound and video. There were two additional troopers there as well as some deputys. Wait and pass judgement if you must when the investigation is complete. There are plenty of witnesses and plenty of video and sound. Just be patient and pray for all involved.
ReplyDeleteif this guy was a good citizen why was he running from the cops good job troopers!
ReplyDeletemsl
2:47 Carl Tyler is a good human being and that he never "murdered" anyone
ReplyDeleteHow many times have you seen someone on tv saying the same thing when they find out their neighbor was a serial killer. Just saying
"msl said...
ReplyDeleteif this guy was a good citizen why was he running from the cops good job troopers!"
So he wouldn't get shot.
12:07, I' m one of the "boneheads" reading this. As far as I know, none of these commenters were there, yet they have opinions about the event. Maybe it would be wise to let all of the facts come to light rather than just rumors. I laughed at the one poster with his imaginary headline "Troopers Assassinate Unarmed Citizen." The writer makes it sound as if Mr. Diaz, an ordinary citizen, was just sitting in his car minding his own business wheh a trooper(s) shot him for no reason at all. Let's let ALL of the facts that will result form the investigation come to light.
ReplyDeletefirst for 1:28 I will never call the cops to come help me. It's pointless, I know how you guys work. Wait until the dust settles then go find out who you should be looking for, meanwhile myself and or my family are victums. f you! secondly what the hell is it going to take to have citizen review boards to review all these situations? How many more deaths are going to happen and the only witnesses are the people who perpetrated the crime? hell everyone knows if you want to get away with it just make sure there is no one standing who will dispute your version of events! Sad day for MSP and the citizens of maryland!
ReplyDeleteHow was the victim a threat to any one when his vehicle was stuck in a ditch? How was suicide committed without a weapon? Oh, there will be a couple of weapons found before the investigation ends. Probably illegal drugs, also. It was reported by a witness that a lone shot was fired and then the officers fired. So who fired the first shot? Does any one know?
ReplyDeleteSo what appears to be the cause and manner of death? Did the victim choke himself to death or did he swallow some poisonous pill? Who fired the first shot? MSP says a weapon has not been recovered.
ReplyDeleteTo all of you cop haters when you are being robbed or beaten or something even worse do not call the police. The facts are not even out yet I personally know one of these troopers and he is a good man.How dare you jump to conclusions when the facts are not even out yet.God Bless all of our troopers for being there to help the community.I went to school with this Diaz he has always been in trouble.
ReplyDelete4:17PM,
ReplyDeleteI suspect the victim stabbed himself in the heart. Or perhaps he slit his own throat.
how can we find out why he was running?? the man was shot to death before he could give a statement! u ppl speculate all u want. he atleast deserved a trial! we are NOT saying all cops are bad.i'm saying those two cops were NOT trained to do what they did! he was STUCK IN A DITCH! HE WAS CAUGHT RIGHT THEN! the sherriff and the good cop was waiting it out. the two BAD cops ran up on him like they were on a mission to KILL.
ReplyDeleteNo matter what this Diaz did in the past or present he had no reason to be murdered in his car while it was stuck in a ditch...Yes he was wrong for running from the cops when they approached especially if he was doing nothing wrong so a chase insued. Weather was bad and unsafe for everyone around..Finally his car ends up in a ditch. He was stuck..He was going nowhere at that point except to exit his vehicle and run which he didnt do. Officers are trained to approach a vehicle if they are suspicious..If this man had no weapon (gun) then why were shots fire at him and one take his life...Im sure as others have said the officers will be cleared of it and the victim will be the bad one. Its getting to the point that we can't even trust the police force anymore..they break laws both driving and such and nothing happens to them..how many times have u been sitting at a stop light to have one come up behind u with his lights and siren on..go throught the light and then off it all goes...wait your turn like the rest of us..What is this world coming too..?
ReplyDeleteThe cane people.....the cane ! He was reaching for the long cane with brass grip. I told ya that earlier !!
ReplyDeleteJudge Mathis a thug by his own admission, but he got his life right.
ReplyDelete2:16PM,
ReplyDeletePlease explain. What is your point?
CYNDI. we are not cop hater's! your just a cop lover! i went to school with terry too! since the 7th grade, sure he was in his share of trouble. but i guarantee if he seen someone harming you he'd of stopped it!
ReplyDeletePerhaps he needed a cane for mobility, and he would have to reach for it to exit his vehicle. I doubt that the cane was some sort of James Bond gadget. I would like to know who fired the first shot as there was no handgun found during the initial investigation.
ReplyDeleteTarget practice maybe?????
ReplyDeletePress release fails to mention the crack pipe in the car and that one officer was merely shooting the tire in an attempt to stop the vehicle from continually ramming/attempting to flee again.
ReplyDeleteRegardless. Cop or no cop. Criminal or no criminal. Several lives are forever changed. The choices of everyone involved will be something that each will have to live and die with.
lmao cyndi, yeah right I'm sure if I'm stupid enough to put myself in a position to be robbed or beaten up the police will race right over and leave no stone unturned to find the perps. What f'n planet are you living on? keep drinkin the kool-aid fool!
ReplyDeleteCheck his record. Not the first time he's run from law enforcement... and usually on a suspended/revoked license to boot.
ReplyDeleteYou can't have it both way people. Mr. Diaz cannot be innocent until proven guilty if you are not willing to extend the same to the officers. This is a fundamental right on which our country was built.
ReplyDeleteYou run from the cops, you get what's coming to you. He couldn't man up, and it is what it is. Just glad he didn't kill nobody, b/c if he had, his people would still play the victim card.
ReplyDeleteRead the police report.
ReplyDeleteThe incident started with an ILLEGAL initiation of contact by TFC Tyler.
It clearly states the target/victim had already left the premises when the trooper decided to stop him.
WHY? Pure Harassment and racial profiling!!
Maybe his suspicious activity was complying with another law by pulling off to take a phone call? No crime? No offense?
And this ends up in MURDER?
Then the sicko blue community shows up with all the disparaging hearsay they can muster to somehow justify this human being as worthless and deserving of on the spot execution? Do you think maybe people run because they're truly threatened by these force continuum psychopaths? And you think your righteous to believe in these Gestapo tactics?
This is absolute madness.
11:48
ReplyDeleteI'm confused. How is it racial profiling? From looking at the Maryland court cases it says that Terry was white. Did I look at the wrong person on there?
Terry had his faults, but he was a good man. He loved his family and we loved him. Thank you to all the people who are speaking up for him. Terry did need a cane to walk. He had a steel rod from his hip to his ankle and was being scheduled for double knee replacement surgery. He did not however attempt to exit the vehicle. There are no tracks in the mud to indicate that he was trying to get away once he was forced in the ditch, and there is no body damage to the truck to indicate that he rammed a police car. The only damage are the 3 blown tires and the passenger window that was shot out. Oh and of course it's riddled with bullet holes. HE DID NOT OWN A WEAPON!!! Nor was there one found in the truck, so why the lie about him firing a shot?
ReplyDeletecold blooded murder. this is what we all have coming when we get pulled over. why do you think so many people run from the police. it's not cause they are america's most wanted. It's cause they know what the cops can get awway with and they don't feel like being set up or shot that day!
ReplyDeleteAre you all a bunch of morons? You keep saying he was shot while stuck in a ditch. You are talking about the car. He was not. You don't know what frame of mind he was in and when he realized he could run no more, THAT is when I would expect him to go to plan B. They said there was a black can with a brass handle on the front seat next to him, maybe he picked it up, maybe he gestured as if he had a gun. Why was he running in the first place? Why was he ramming police cars. You bunch of idiots are defending the criminal and prosecuting the cop before you even know the story. Those of you saying that yes he has a record but is still a good guy, just shut up. You are part of the problem because it has become okay with you to commit crimes. You can't be a criminal and an Angel at the same time. Why don't you all just shut your mouths and wait till more information comes out so you don't sound like a bunch of idiots.
ReplyDeleteanonymous 3:52, I have to agree with you.
ReplyDelete6:52 wonder if you will feel the same way when the msp becomes your judge jury and executioner? Bottom line the man was sitting in his car, car was in a ditch, no weapon found, msp killed him in cold blood. You're trying to tell us the msp had no other recourse to apprehend this man at that moment in time other than killing him?
ReplyDeleteBullshit!
Maybe he wasn't a good guy, but that still does not give the msp the right to execute him, without a trial!
I won't be in that situation. For starters, if I was doing nothing wrong and the police tried to stop me, I would simply pull over. I may wonder what the hell they are pulling me over for, but NORMAL people would stop. YOU DON'T KNOW that he was just sitting in his car. YOU CAN'T make that determinatino now because that information isn't out there. What I am telling you is that we don't know what happened in the situation other than what facts have been presented as of now. If i told you that after all of the chase and the ramming of the cars etc. that this fool stuck something black and shiny out the window would you have a different opinion? Put yourself in the officers shoes. What would you do if you felt threatened with your life. Would you call a time out? No, you would react as these officers are trained to do. There is no time out, there are no do-overs. All of this happens in seconds. If it was my son that was the officer......sorry, but I would want the criminal dead and not have to bury my son.
DeleteI have seen both of these troopers in court and they are hotheads!
ReplyDeleteall you know is what the cops are saying. funny thing about that huh? dead men tell no tales!
ReplyDeleteHope you never find yourself in a similiar situation!
1056-Exactly. It doesn't matter what Diaz did/did not do, his people would stick up for him no matter what the facts were.
ReplyDeleteOh, my God! So many Clint Eastwood and Charles Bronson wannabees! Is this what the world has come to?
ReplyDeleteyou know, a whole lot of ppl claim to know details that would only be known by the officers on the scene. Some things I know for a fact aren't true, and somethings that are. Like, how did you know about the cane when that hasn't been mentioned in a single article or the press release? Or how about the person who claims there was a crack pipe found? Do you really think that if they found something like that they would leave it out of the police report? So I'm beginning to wonder if half of these "anonymous" comments defending the actions of the troopers are maybe the troopers themselves...or maybe just even fellow troopers defending that good ol boy mentallity in somerset county. If these officers were justified then why all the lies? Suicide....no weapon...lie. How did he manage to ram several police cars without putting a single dent or scratch on the truck? Sure there was a police car in the ditch, but does anybody remember how bad the roads were that night? The cop prob lost control and ran off the road. I really can't wait until this homicide investigation is completed and all the facts come out. Sure he screwed up, but he deserved his day in court just like everybody else.
ReplyDeleteI had to add my own two cents to the conversation.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all,Trooper Tyler once gave me a speeding ticket so I am not in his fan club but I truly do not believe for a second he is capable of killing a man in cold blood without justification.
Some of you are clearly watching too many bad cop movies of the week."On a mission to kill"?Seriously, that sounds like a title from a Steven Segal film.It was not that complicated.
He (Diaz)was approached by the police,he chose to run,end of story until the investigation is complete.
As much as we may not like it, the cops have every right to approach you in a parking lot.Ever hear of Neighborhood Watch, people? If employees or visitors report strange activity in the nursing home parking lot,the police HAVE to check it out!
Lastly, please stop throwing in the race card. This man was white according to several sources,so it makes you sound stupid when you claim he was targeted for being black.
Don't know if it will be released but if it is and its not been tampered with, the 2 cops are in deep crap and should be.
ReplyDeletefirst of shame on any of you who are so willing to pass judgement on law enforcement and none of you know the facts. second Mr diaz was white,he had a wrap sheet a mile long sure his familly put on the hes innocent great familly man... the pic of him on the news last night look very closely and you will see it was taken when he was an INMATE at ECI.He chose to put other peoples lives in jepardy he made mostly bad choices thru out his life and he paid the price. If the State Police wanted to cover anything up i doubt you would see NO GUN FOUND on the local media.you morons so quick to judge werent there and dont know a thing..
ReplyDeleteCar refuses to stop... rams M.S.P. vehicles several times... vehicle forced off road with road spikes and a rolling road block... refuses repeated verbal commands to show his hands... continues to rev engine... Troopers approach vehicle weapons drawn, repeating commands for a of show hands... driver reaches for long thin dark object with metal hand grip (bout size of sawed off shotgun) and pulls it up from seat ...and in the median of Rt13 (dark rainy) Troopers shoot Driver dead. I would have done the same thing every time. M.S.P. did what they are trained to do. My thoughts go out to the two young Troopers involved, that in the course of a days work, were put in the position to have to take a mans life.
ReplyDeleteSuicide = while attempting to flee from police you ram their cruisers and race up and down Rt13 endangering the public....having to be road spiked twice and forced by rolling road block into the median... where you refuse all commands to cut engine and then refuse repeated commands to show your hands... when Troopers finally approach your vehicle with weapons drawn repeating commands to show your hands, instead you decide you are going to turn and grab an object off your seat (long object with metallic handle).... you my friend have just committed SUICIDE
ReplyDeleteBelieve me, the whole truth will never be known. The MSP take care of their own. They will close ranks and say to the community, kiss our collective asses.
ReplyDeleteHere's an idea. For the people that don't need the police, don't call the police. We will reserve a special island walled in just for you who don't like the police. Everyone that doesn't want the police can live on this non police/anarchists island. There will be free knives dropped on the island so you can fend for yourselves.
ReplyDeleteAlso, since the budget crunch, the police will now be charging for responding to calls, much like an ambulance. Before you call the police check the price list for you being drunk, acting like an a hole, repoering your out of control 16 year old daughter missing who is sleeping with your boyfriend, punching your wife upside the head and now we have to lock you up, someone stole your oxicodone pills, and generally being a fool. Cause the police be charging now!
