We Need A Little Help

Mr Albero,

This is a bit strange but I have lost a medical device and hopefully one of you readers has found it. It is a One Touch Ping glucometer that is connected via bluetooth to my insulin pump. I put it in my jacket pocket this morning, stopped and finished my coffee in the park with a buddy of mine and went to work. I have searched the car, parking lot and my driveway to no available. I'm not in danger of going into an insulin related problem but my life would be much easier when I get it back, I am a bit nervous without it. It is in a black nylon zipper case and my name and address typed on a paper inside one of the pockets

Please call and I will do everything to pick it up

Thank you

Here is a photo of what it looks like

Gas Pump Programmed To Say "An American Company. No Terrorist Gas!!!"

Tempers in the country are running hot, so much so that at least one gas station owner has turned the LCD screen on his pumps into a medium of personal expression. In a Consumerist exclusive, one of our readers found a gas pump programmed to say, "AN AMERICAN COMPANY. NO TERRORIST GAS!!!" at his local Valero gas station.

Reached for comment, a Valero spokesman said, "The site in question is not owned or controlled by Valero Energy Corporation. It's an independently owned store that contracts with Valero to supply it fuel. However, Valero has been in contact with the store's owner, and we have been notified that the message on the fuel dispensers has been removed."

"Needless to say," our reader wrote when he sent the picture in, "I didn't buy gas here."

Pay Freeze For Queen In UK Austerity Measures

In a sign of dire economic times across the pond, Buckingham Palace is now doing some budget busting, with the queen herself due for a pay freeze and Prince Charles set to foot the bill for some major expenses.
Queen Elizabeth II will reportedly see a pay freeze until 2015, as new austerity measures in the U.K. have cut funding for the royal household. She reportedly receives about $47 milllion a year taxpayer funding.

US Senator Rand Paul On His Famous Father, His Life As A New Senator And The Ongoing Perilous State Of The Union

Introduction: US Senator Rand Paul is the son of libertarian Congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul. Rand Paul grew up in Lake Jackson, Texas and eventually became an ophthalmologist. Upon completion of his training in 1993, Rand and Kelley moved to Bowling Green to start their family and begin his practice. In 1995, Rand founded the Southern Kentucky Lions Eye Clinic, an organization that provides eye exams and surgery to needy families and individuals. Rand Paul makes the point that he is first and foremost a dedicated physician, not a career politician ... and that his entrance into politics is indicative of his life's work: a desire to diagnose problems and provide practical solutions. He has pledged to work hard every day in the US Senate to reform government and to ending business as usual in Washington DC.

Miracles Do Happen

Today we were so pleased to deliver five televisions to Wraparound Maryland Inc. at 314 Civic Ave in Salisbury.

Wraparound Maryland does so much for the local community, especially with children. In this case, they have more than 130 Families that are in need of being adopted this Christmas.

If you'd like to adopt a Family this Christmas, contact Wraparound Maryland's support team at 410-219-5070.

While their staff visited Salisbury News Corporate Office today I received a very interesting e-mail. A woman contacted me about the TV's and requested one for her Sister. When I looked at her address it said Atlanta, Georgia. I quickly responded by asking if her Sister lived in Salisbury. Her reply, yes but she has relocated to Frederick, Maryland.

Her Sister unfortunately has colon cancer and had to stop working as a Nurse. Her children are going to school and working full time to help provide at home. We not only made the donation but Wraparound Maryland has an Office in Bowie, Maryland and were more than willing to take the sixth TV and bring it to Bowie this Friday so the Family from Frederick could come pick it up and save an additional four hours travel time.

Go to http://www.wraparoundmd.org/ to learn more about this wonderful organization and group of people.

YOU MIGHT BE A SLAVE IF...

1. You hate when your alarm clock buzzes: If you don’t wake up everyday with fantastic anticipation to be alive, you might be living under someone else’s command. In fact, if you have to wake up at the same time every day, you’re probably someone’s slave.

2. You’re forced to pay for causes you vehemently oppose: If you’re a peaceful person but are forced to pay for wars done in your name, you might be a slave. Likewise, if you’re forced to pay for corporate welfare of failed institutions while you struggle to stay healthy, you’re surely a slave.

3. You expect someone else to take care of you: If someone other than yourself takes care of you, then you’re likely beholden to them in countless ways. Be careful, you might be a slave if you demand that the government give you something other than freedom.

4. You must follow laws that your Master may break: If the rule of law only applies to you and your lowly peers, while the Masters get away with murder, you’re clearly a slave in an unjust system.

5. You think mob rule is better than personal freedom: If you believe that majority rule is always better for you than free will, then you’re most certainly a slave.“Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.” — Mahatma Gandhi.

6. You condemn beliefs of others: If you’re taught to hate the beliefs of others who have never harmed you, then your mind has been thoroughly confined by your Master’s implanted beliefs.

7. You believe people should be caged for consuming a product: If you believe that it’s okay to cage humans for consuming a product in private, then you probably love your enslavement.

8. You sit in traffic for more than one hour a day: If you waste over 360 hours a year (10,800 hours over a 30-year career, that’s 450 days) commuting to a job you despise, your time and life belongs to someone else.

9. You’re forced to wear a uniform: If you’re forced into a dress code of any kind, including a suit and tie, you’re a show clown with someone to impress in order to receive your daily bread.

10. You watch over 20 hours of TV per week: If you occupy your amazing mind in front of a glowing box in the room for 1,040 hours a year (43 days), then your unlimited creativity is impossibly chained to a lifetime of mindlessness.

$2 Trillion Sunstorm Coming, NASA Warns

Recovery time period estimated at 10 years

WASHINGTON
– The U.S. is becoming increasingly aware and concerned about the possibility within a few years of an electromagnetic pulse attack from an enemy's high-altitude nuclear explosion. The impact would include the loss of critical U.S. electrical infrastructure that could send the nation back into an 18th century agrarian economy, according to a report from Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin.

But experts have warned that such an attack could produce conditions more difficult than the 18th century due to the considerable increase in population and the total reliance by society on electricity and technology for life-sustaining factors, such as food production and delivery. Also hit would be transportation, medical and emergency services, telecommunications, and the economic and financial system.

Republican presidential candidate and former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Newt Gingrich, in a nationally televised presidential debate, recently declared that the potential for an EMP attack is perhaps the most serious national security threat facing the United States today.

However, there is another threat looming that is not only possible but actually forecast, and it could fry electronics and knock out the transformers in the national electric grid system.

WHO GETS YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY IF YOU ARE DEAD

This is another example of what Rick Perry called
"TREASON in high places" !!!Get angry and pass this on!

Remember, not only did you contribute to Social Security but your employer did too. It totaled 15% of your income before taxes. If you averaged only $30K over your working life, that's close to $220,500.

If you calculate the future value of $4,500 per year (yours & your employer's contribution) at a simple 5% (less than what the govt. pays on the money that it borrows), after 49 years of working you'd have $892,919.98.

If you took out only 3% per year, you'd receive $26,787.60 per year and it would last better than 30 years (until you're 95 if you retire at age 65) and that's with no interest paid on that final amount on deposit! If you bought an annuity and it paid 4% per year, you'd have a lifetime income of $2,976.40 per month.

The folks inWashington have pulled off a bigger Ponzi scheme than Bernie Madhoff ever had.

Entitlement my ___, I paid cash for my social security insurance!!!! Just because they borrowed the money, doesn't make my benefits some kind of charity or handout!!

Congressional benefits ---- free healthcare, outrageous retirement packages, 67 paid holidays, three weeks paid vacation, unlimited paid sick days, now that's welfare, and they have the nerve to call my social security retirement entitlements?

We're "broke" and can't help our own Seniors, Veterans, Orphans, Homeless

In the last months we have provided aid toHaiti, Chile , and Turkey . And nowPakistan ......home of bin Laden. Literally, BILLIONS of DOLLARS!!!

Our retired seniors living on a 'fixed income' receive no aid nor do they get any breaks while our government and religious organizations pour Hundreds of Billions of $$$$$$'s and Tons of Food to Foreign Countries!

They call Social Security and Medicare an entitlement even though most of us have been paying for it all our working lives and now when it's time for us to collect, the government is running out of money. Why did the government borrow from it in the first place? Imagine if the *GOVERNMENT* gave 'US' the same support they give to other countries.

Sad isn't it?

Despite What You've Heard, Unemployment Rate Rising Not Falling

In Unemployment Rate Dips to 8.6% as 487,000 Drop Out of Labor Force I presented some quick facts on the drop in the unemployment rate.

In the last year, the civilian population rose by 1,726,000. Yet the labor force fell by 67,000. Those not in the labor force rose by 1,793,000.

In November, those "Not in Labor Force" rose by a whopping 487,000. If you are not in the labor force, you are not counted as unemployed.

Were it not for people dropping out of the labor force, the unemployment rate would be well over 11%.

Labor Force and Unemployment Rate Adjusted for Population Growth

Reader Tim Wallace responded with a very nice set of graphs and commentary. Wallace writes ...

In the entire history of the labor force data, only in 1951, 1961, 1964, and 2009 did the labor force "shrink". It also "shrank" in 2011 off 2010. Also note that from 1964 to 2007, only in 1991 at 631,000, 1995 at 723,000 and 2002 at 801,000 did the labor force fail to add more than 1,000,000 people.

However, in 2008 the labor force only expanded by 776,000. This was followed by a loss of 826,000 in 2009, a trivial gain of 155,000 in 2010 and a loss of 67,000 in 2011.

If you look at the average labor force growth from 1948 to 2007 of 1,579,000 the labor force should have expanded by 6,316,000 2008-2011. Instead the labor force expanded by a mere 38,000!

Thus, 6,278,000 people are unaccounted for in the unemployment numbers based on historical averages.

The final graph takes the adjusted data and calculates the unemployment number off the adjusted workforce and those that actually have jobs. The unemployment numbers using this historical trend method show the following numbers for November in these years:

Unemployment Rate Adjusted for Population Growth

2007 4.7%
2008 7.3%
2009 11.7%
2010 12.4%
2011 12.2%

I am sure it is just coincidence, but it is interesting to note that the flat lining of the labor force began in earnest with the Obama administration.

National Motto Of “In God We Trust” To Be Discontinued In 2013

Both National political parties and their leaders have been promoting politically correct secularism within the United States of America for years. As our next President, I will honor their efforts and remove every public acknowledgment of God from within our Federal government. By officially changing the guiding light of the U.S.A., our Federal government and its employees can finally do the work they were elected, hired or appointed to do without the distraction of religion or our Creator.

With this advancement, the Federal government will no longer acknowledge or participate in any future Easter or Christmas celebrations. U.S. mail will now be delivered on Christmas, Good Friday & Easter. The US Supreme Court will be in session on Christmas, Good Friday & Easter as well as Sundays since they will become ordinary workdays. The Senate and the House of Representatives will not have a "Christmas or Easter Break”. All government offices & services will work on Christmas, Good Friday & Easter. These changes will dramatically increase the productivity of our government without having to pay for any overtime and will also save
taxpayers billions of dollars every year by discontinuing the National pageantry, promotion and support of these religious days of the year.

As we prepare for the One birth that changed mankind forever, please take pride in what sets us apart from every other Nation on earth; Americans acknowledge all of our unalienable rights have been given to us by God, not a career politician or a Federal government.

Merry Christmas America,

ATF Death Watch 124: DEA “Cashwalker” Program Revealed

“Undercover American narcotics agents have laundered or smuggled millions of dollars in drug proceeds as part of Washington’s expanding role in Mexico’s fight against drug cartels, according to current and former federal law enforcement officials,” the New York Times reports. Does that sound familiar?

It’s the exact same explanation the ATF used to justify Operation Fast and Furious, wherein ATF agents “allowed” some 2000 firearms to walk from U.S. gun stores to the Sinaloan drug cartel. Just like the DEA’s money laundering ops, ATF’s so-called “botched sting” operation was designed to “catch the big fish.” Damningly, in ten months F&F did no such thing.

The DOJ pulled the plug on Fast and Furious roughly a year ago, after drug thugs murdered U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry with ATF-enabled firearms. As far as we know, the DEA’s “Cash for Goons” program is ongoing.

Pinellas Hydroponic Garden Shop Has Attention Of Deputies Searching For Marijuana Growers

Detectives with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, watching via a camera mounted on a pole nearby, recorded the Chevy's license plate number, checked motor vehicle records to identify the owner, and soon showed up at his home in Seminole.

Mystery Company Buying Up U.S. Gun Manufacturers

Lined up in a gun rack beneath mounted deer heads is a Bushmaster Carbon 15, a matte-black semiautomatic rifle that looks as if it belongs to a SWAT team. On another rack rests a Teflon-coated Prairie Panther from DPMS Firearms, a supplier to the U.S. Border Patrol and security agencies in Iraq. On a third is a Remington 750 Woodsmaster, a popular hunting rifle.

The variety of rifles and shotguns on sale here at Cabela's, the national sporting goods chain, is a testament to America's enduring gun culture. But, to a surprising degree, it is also a testament to something else: Wall Street deal-making.

In recent years, many top-selling brands - including the 195-year-old Remington Arms, as well as Bushmaster Firearms and DPMS, leading makers of military-style semiautomatics - have quietly passed into the hands of a single private company. It is called the Freedom Group - and it is the most powerful and mysterious force in the U.S. commercial gun industry today.

Never heard of it?

You're not alone. Even within gun circles, the Freedom Group is something of an enigma. Its rise has been so swift that it has become the subject of wild speculation and grassy-knoll conspiracy theories. In the realm of consumer rifles and shotguns - long guns, in the trade - it is unrivaled in its size and reach. By its own count, the Freedom Group sold 1.2 million long guns and 2.6 billion rounds of ammunition in the 12 months ended March 2010, the most recent year for which figures are publicly available.

World War Crimes Court Gets Its First Ex-President In The Dock

THE HAGUE, Netherlands -- Ivory Coast's ex-president appeared at the International Criminal Court Monday, becoming the first former head of state to face judges at the world's first permanent war crimes court. Laurent Gbagbo vowed to fight the charges against him.

Gbagbo, 66, was calm and smiled at supporters in the public gallery as the 25-minute hearing opened. He told judges he did not need them to read the charges.

Gbagbo was extradited to the Netherlands last week to face charges including murder and rape committed by supporters as he attempted to cling to power.

The Inner Qwest Of Newt Gingrich

Newt Gingrich's political career began officially in 1973 when he declared himself a candidate for Congress. In 1974 he gave a quote to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution which was clearly meant for the history books: "[My ambition] is to be an old-time political boss in 20 years."

Not the most idealistic of intentions, but that was Newt and he has done it --on his own, feverish timetable.

Most of the people who worked on the Gingrich congressional campaigns during the 70s were actually Democrats.

"My mama said that the only Republican who'd ever done anything for that part of Georgia was William Tecumseh Sherman," says Kip Carter. "We downplayed the Republican thing completely...You don't see 'Republican' in any of the ads or campaign posters." Says James Gray, a professor who was Newt's officemate for three years. "I voted for him in 1974 and it's the only time I ever voted Republican. I thought he was a moderate."

Along with his amorphous political persona, Newt showed a propensity for the kind of behavior boys boast about in the locker room.

The 5 Obstacles Between Gingrich And The Nomination

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) has Mitt Romney worried, but to defeat the former Massachusetts governor, he must clear major hurdles.

Gingrich’s vision for the future, his superb debating skills and his bashing of the media has won over many in the GOP base. Polls show that Gingrich is surging in the early states, and his timing could not be better.

In the 2007-2008 Republican primary, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) started to mount his comeback around Thanksgiving. Like McCain, Gingrich is peaking at the right time.

But all candidates have flaws, and Gingrich is no exception. The good news for Gingrich is that he recognizes that the spotlight is on him, and he has learned from the mistakes of Tim Pawlenty, Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry, who all stumbled when their campaigns were the hot stories.

Can Gingrich win the GOP nomination? Anything is possible in politics and Gingrich's numbers continue to rise. Yet, Romney is still the betting favorite. Intrade.com, a predictions market, pegs Romney’s chances of capturing the Republican nod at 45 percent while Gingrich is second at 35 percent.

The ex-Speaker’s chances will improve if he can clear the five obstacles standing in his way.

Sen. Coburn: Gingrich 'Brilliant' But Lacking In Leadership

More than a decade after ending their tenuous relationship as Oklahoma congressman and House speaker, Sen. Tom Coburn on Sunday described Newt Gingrich as "brilliant" but not the presidential candidate he would want in the White House.

"There are a lot of candidates out there," Coburn told Fox News Sunday. "I'm not inclined to be a supporter of Newt Gingrich's having served under him for four years and experienced personally his leadership."

Coburn did not describe his opinion of Gingrich’s leadership style, but said, "There’s all types of leaders: leaders that instill confidence, leaders that are somewhat abrupt and brisk, leaders that have a standard for the people they’re leading and a different standard for themselves. I just found his leadership lacking."

According to some pundits, Gingrich rubbed a lot of Republicans the wrong way during his stint as speaker, and several Republicans and conservatives have said they don’t like the idea of Gingrich as the GOP nominee. They claim Gingrich is less conservative than challenger Mitt Romney, about whom many also don't express excitement.

Confessions Of An Airline Baggage 'Thrower'

Ever wonder why airlines lose, delay and damage bags? We asked an airline baggage handler who, of course, spoke to us anonymously, what it’s like in the belly of the beast and on the tarmac. What he told us might help you arrive with your bag and its contents intact.

What goes on behind the curtain?

You might be amazed at how much manpower it takes to put a passenger aircraft in the air. Obviously, the majority of time, you’ll only see the pilots, flight attendants, and gate agents. That already is a lot of people, but there are more people working outside to get you to your destination. Once you leave your bag at the check-in counter, it goes through a series of conveyer belts, where it may or may not be opened and searched by TSA, until it reaches the pier for your departing flight. It is then sorted into carts by one ramp agent who then brings it planeside for other ramp agents to load on the airplane. You may not be able to see much from your window seat, but we can see all around the tarmac. Other than bags, there is a lot of other cargo that gets transported by air. We see everything from human remains, to mail to fruits and vegetables coming on and off the plane. We’re also the guys directing the plane to its parking position at the gate, securing the aircraft, and hooking up the ground power and air. Also, since planes don’t go in reverse, we are the guys driving the push back tug, ensuring that aircraft do not come in contact with each other.

Has U.S. Already Launched War Against Iran?

A recent blast that ripped through an Iranian military base has increased suspicions that the United States and its allies are engaged in a covert effort to derail the Islamic Republic’s nuclear weapons program.

The explosion and other anti-Iranian actions, coupled with what are seen as retaliatory moves by Iran, have raised the question: Has the war with Iran already begun?

The explosion at a Revolutionary Guard Corps base 30 miles west of Tehran on Nov. 12 leveled buildings and killed 17 people, including a founder of Iran’s ballistic missile program, Gen. Hassan Tehrani Moghaddam.

Iranian officials called the explosion an accident.

“However, many former U.S. intelligence officials and Iran experts believe that the explosion — the most destructive of at least two dozen unexplained blasts in the last two years – was part of a covert effort by the U.S., Israel and others to disable Iran’s nuclear and missile programs,” the Los Angeles Times reported on Sunday.

Patrick Clawson, who directs the Iran Security Initiative at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, told the Times: “It does appear that there is a campaign of assassinations and cyber war, as well as the semi-acknowledged campaign of sabotage.”

American and Israeli engineers are suspected of feeding the Stuxnet computer worm into Iran’s nuclear program in 2010. The virus caused centrifuges used to enrich uranium to shatter.

Two senior nuclear physicists were killed and a third wounded by bombs attached to cars or motorcycles in January and November of last year.

What Would You Like To Weigh?

It's no surprise that the scales are tipping in an unhealthy direction for many Americans. That's already resulting in higher rates of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, cancers, osteoarthritis, gynecological issues, strokes, and other obesity-related conditions, as well as having a big economic impact in the workplace, in schools, and on the healthcare system. But it's also effecting our dreams of how much we'd like to weigh, according to Gallup's Health and Healthcare Survey.

Only about 1 percent of kids were sexting sexually explicit photographs.

Young Football Players At Greater Concussion Risk Than Pros

BURTONSVILLE, Md. - From what he remembers, and it isn't much, Cameron Williams was cold.

On a steaming autumn day last year in Burtonsville, the 13-year-old shivered as he walked back to his Unity Thunder football team's huddle, barely able to keep his eyes open. Dizzy, he'd been hit hard - really hard - twice that game.

His head ached for relief, but he knew how football players were supposed to act. How pain was a part of the game. Then he took two more vicious hits at practice the next day, and Cameron realized it was time to tell someone how much he was hurting.

His mother whisked him away to the family doctor, who told Cameron he'd been concussed twice in the past week.

Because of the undeveloped nature of their bodies, youth like Cameron could be at a higher risk for concussions than their professional counterparts, according to medical experts.

But of the estimated 4.5 million children who play organized youth football in the United States, his experiences aren't altogether uncommon. A 2006 study by the National Center for Injury Prevention found that 47 percent of high school football players sustain a concussion each season, and 35 percent of players said they had more than one in the same season.

$7.7 Trillion To Wall Street - Anything To Keep The Banksters Happy!

Do you know who Elizabeth Duke is? How about Donald Kohn or Kevin Warsh? No? Well - you should. Because while Congress was debating back in 2008 whether or not to bailout banksters with a $700 billion blank check - these guys and girls were just doing it. They were funneling $7.7 trillion to Wall Street under the table - without one constituent phone call - without worrying about one election - without having to give one explanation.

They were able to do that because they're members of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors - a group of people who are not voted into office, but have the power to completely dictate monetary policy in America. They are not politicians - they're technocrats - they're bankers and financial experts. Technocrats aren't interested in democracy - it takes too long, and often the interests of the majority of voters don't quite line up with the interests of the minority of bankers and foreign investors. Or - to put it in today's terms - the interests of the 99 percent rarely line up with the interests of the 1 percent. That's why - back in 2008 - the technocrats at the Fed weren't interested in waiting for Congress - with all of its open debate and constituent services - to bail out the banks - they just went ahead and did it themselves. According to documents obtained by Bloomberg News - in 2009 - the Fed dished out $7.7 trillion in no-strings-attached, super-low interest loans to Wall Street's biggest players.

That's $7.7 trillion!

That's more than half of the total value of EVERYTHING - every single thing produced in America - that same year. $7.7 TRILLION out the door - with no one bothering to inform the electorate about it until now. And since they were super-low interest loans - banks made enormous profits off of them. Six of the nation's biggest banks - like Morgan Stanley and Bank of America - pocketed a not-too-shabby $13 billion in undisclosed profits, thanks to the deal with the technocrats at the Fed. So today - thanks to a decision made by technocrats, and not politicians - the too-big-to-fail banks are even bigger, and Wall Street has raked in more profits in just the last 30 months then they did in the entire eight years leading up to the 2008 financial crisis.

QUOTE OF THE DAY 12-5-11

“Sometimes people hold a core belief that is very strong. When they are presented with evidence that works against that belief, the new evidence cannot be accepted. It would create a feeling that is extremely uncomfortable, called cognitive dissonance. And because it is so important to protect the core belief, they will rationalize, ignore and even deny anything that doesn’t fit in with the core belief.”

Unemployed And Liberal Groups To Hold Protests In DC

Washington - Roughly 3,000 unemployed workers from around the country are expected in the nation's capitol next week for four days of protests with labor, religious and social justice groups that say Congress cares more about America's wealthiest 1 percent than it does the masses of struggling middle-class families.

Piggybacking on the Occupy Wall Street movement, the three-day "Take Back the Capitol" protest will open Monday with construction of a "Peoples Camp" on the National Mall as a base of operations. On Tuesday, protesters will hit Capitol Hill to lobby members of Congress about extending federal unemployment benefits. The group walks to K Street on Wednesday to protest the political influence of corporate lobbyists.

And on Thursday, they'll host a national prayer vigil for the unemployed on Capitol Hill. At the same time, the AFL-CIO will coordinate simultaneous protests at congressional district offices across the country to call for extending unemployment benefits that are slated to expire Dec. 31 without congressional action.

"We're going to be here for a week, and we're going to be letting them all know that people are getting pretty tired of a Washington that works for the few and not for the many," said Robert Borosage, co-director of Campaign for America's Future, one of a coalition of organizations sponsoring the event.

THE BUMS WILL ALWAYS LOSE!!!

It seems like those in power think they’ve won. Their media campaign of misinformation, lies and propaganda about the Occupy Movement has worked its magic. The majority of Americans have been convinced that the Occupy people are nothing but lazy bums. The real message about Wall Street and Washington DC criminality has been obscured by a blizzard of talking points about socialism, communism, drug usage, trash, law breaking, urination and feces. The Department of Homeland Security coordinated destruction of encampments across the country has eliminated the daily reminder of the ongoing looting and pillaging of the country by the ruling oligarchy of bankers, mega-corporations, and politicians.

OWS is like the Big Lebowski. The rich guy is yelling him – “the bums will always lose.”

HOT: MF Global Employee Links Clinton To The Bankrupt Firm

A former MF Global employee accused former president Bill Clinton of collecting $50,000 per month through his Teneo advisory firm in the months before the brokerage careened towards its Halloween filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, reports Human Events.

Teneo was hired by MF Global’s former CEO Jon S. Corzine to improve his image and to enhance his connections with Clinton’s political family, said the employee, who asked that his name be withheld because he feared retribution, according to HE.

The Teneo contract with MF Global lasted at least five months, the souce said. “The board cancelled it after Corzine resigned.”

The source, who is no longer associated with MF Global, said Teneo is a dual-track company with one side devoted to merchant and investment banking and the other side set up to provide image and strategy consulting services.

Over 46 Million Americans On Foodstamps For The First Time Ever

While the capital markets may be cheering that in the past month 120,000 people supposedly found jobs, even if these were largely temporary or part-time just in time for the year end shopping sprees, we wonder how they will react when learning that according to the latest update from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), some 423,000 Americans found their way to minimum way subsistence, courtesy of Food Stamp handouts from Uncle Sam. Since the start of the Second Great Depression, food stamp participation has increased by 18.7 million, and is now at an all time higher 46.3 million. All Bush's fault, or something. At least the chart below appears to be plateauing... Actually, sorry, no isn't.

Is The Military That Intelligent

The military is planning a $300 million intelligence campus in Bethesda, Md. The Army Corps of Engineers and the Defense Intelligence agencies are working together to overhaul a 40-acre, 870-thousand square foot space vacated by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. The project would house a hub of the federal government's intelligence-gathering agencies. Washington Business Journal reports, plans it could take five years to develop and means up to 3,000 workers may have to move off MacArthur Boulevard and Sangamore Road for some time.

ROBERT SHILLER: THE BEST ADVICE I EVER GOT

“My father, Benjamin Shiller, told me not to believe in authorities or celebrities — that society tends to imagine them as superhuman. It’s good advice. People are snowed by celebrities all the time. In academia people have this idea of achieving stardom — publishing in the best journals, being at the best university, writing on the hot topic everyone else is writing about. But that’s what my father told me not to do. He taught me that you have to pursue things that sound right to you.

“In 2004, when I wrote the second edition of my book Irrational Exuberance, I said in the preface I was worried that the boom in home prices might collapse, bring on bankruptcy in both households and businesses, and lead to a world recession. I remember thinking that this sounds kind of flaky — nobody else is saying this, I can’t prove it, this could be embarrassing. But I had learned from my father not to care what other people think. This was my book, and I believed this, so I just said it.”

Black Friday Gun Sales Break Records

Even as Joe Sixpack was maxing out that last credit card on useless gadgets (but not flat screen TVs as Corning was so nice to warn [8]), he was making sure to have enough in store for that one final Plan Z purchase. Guns. As KNDU reports, "Gun dealers flooded the FBI with background check requests from shoppers, smashing the single day record with a 32% increase from last year." USA Today [9]has more: "Deputy Assistant FBI Director Jerry Pender said the checks, required by federal law, surged to 129,166 during the day, far surpassing the previous high of 97,848 on Black Friday of 2008." And in reality, the number is likely far greater: "The actual number of firearms sold last Friday is likely higher because multiple firearms can be included in a transaction by a single buyer. And the FBI does not track actual gun sales." And while Saudi Arabia is warning that women driving leads to the end of the world, in America women are now the marginal guy buyer: "Some gun industry analysts attributed the unusual surge to a convergence of factors, including an increasing number of first-time buyers seeking firearms for protection and women who are being drawn to sport shooting and hunting. Larry Keane, a spokesman for the National Shooting Sports Foundation, said 25% of the purchases typically involve first-time buyers, many of them women. "I think there also is a burgeoning awakening of the American public that they do have a constitutional right to own guns," Keane said. Yet Keane said last Friday's number appeared to defy complete explanation. "It's really pretty amazing," he said." Indeed it is, and unlike Europe, where with the exception of Switzerland the best the local rioters can do is some imported (from the US) tear gas, when the Arab Spring finally makes landfall, it will be time to use up those one way international frequent flier miles (assuming of course that American and soon others don't cancel them).

Dick Cheney Heads To Supreme Court Today

A chance encounter with Vice President Dick Cheney at a shopping center in Colorado allowed Steven Howards to express his disgust with the Iraq war, the Associated Press reports. It also led to Howards' arrest by Secret Service agents. Five years later, Howards' claim that the agents detained him because of his criticism could come up before the Supreme Court. We'll find out today if they'll take up the case.

The federal appeals court says Howards can sue, claiming he was arrested in retaliation for speaking out. But what makes the ruling unusual is that the same court concluded that the agents had reason to arrest him for denying that he touched Cheney.

The Dirtiest Job On The Internet

Someone has to sanitize websites' comment boards. The toil and thick skins of online moderators.
In a cabana in Progreso, Mexico, overlooking the blue waters of the Gulf, Canadian Chuck Dueck cracks open his laptop and logs into the comment forums of several news websites. Over at cbc.ca, home to the Canadian Broadcasting Corp., an article on child obesity has drawn this gem, “It is VERY simple. People who are FAT eat too much. There were no fat Jews in Auschwitz—they did not have much food. Stop eating so much!” At npr.org, one comment is directed specifically at Dueck. “GO F- -K YOUR SELF A- -HOLE, You are making me hate this site!!! F-G!”

One by one, Dueck, a professional online moderator, deletes these comments, scolds the people behind them (either on the forum or over e-mail), and, if things really get out of hand—say, in the case of repeat offenders—bans their accounts. Over the course of each day he chips away at the cussing and swearing, the spammers, haters, and trolls, temporarily restoring civility to his corner of the Internet.

Since the first messages were posted on bulletin boards some three decades back, comments and free discussion between anonymous users have been a central part of the Internet’s appeal. Sites such as Gawker and the Huffington Post built their empires on page clicks driven by endless streams of commenters and flame wars. But what’s good for Gawker isn’t always great for established brands, and as companies have embraced the Web and eagerly interacted with their customers, they’ve often been overwhelmed by the response. A lethal combination of anonymity, opinion, and the safety of typing from a remote location all but guarantees that comment forums get out of hand, falling prey to the Hobbesian tirades of the Web’s most nasty, brutish, and vocal denizens—hence, the increasing need for moderators such as Dueck to intervene and sanitize sites’ comment boards.

$9 For A Gallon A Gas In Alaska? What's The Cost In Your State?

A story last week reported that residents of Nome, Alaska, could be looking at a costly winter: $9-a-gallon gasoline. The news, rightfully, has some of the 3,500 residents in the coastal town freaked out.
"It is going to kill us," said Sunny Song, owner of Mr. Cab, which ferries children to school, nurses to their patients' homes and women to hospitals to give birth.

Seven Of Our Twenty TV's Already Spoken For

Here's a sampling of some of the stories we have received and confirmed so far.

Family with a 7 yr old daughter who is receiving services, she has been asking for a TV for Christmas but the family is unable to afford one. They do not own any other TV's.

Family with a 15 yr old son who is receiving services, he is also asking for a TV for Christmas and the family can not afford one. He is residing with his elderly grandmother who is in poor health and this boy helps to take care of her. He spends a lot of time at home because he is afraid to leave her and a TV would give him some entertainment :)

We are helping a family who has been homeless for a couple months. Mom and her 2 children were living in a hotel and had to leave because it was so expensive they are now staying with a friend. When they were evicted, they lost all their furniture. She has just found an apt to move in to next week, but has no furniture, tv, kids stuff or anything. This tv would greatly help make their Christmas awesome!!

We have another single mother of three that is moving into a new apartment and doesn't have money to purchase a tv for her family. This would be a great surprise for them!

The last family is a single mother of 6 getting ready to move from a friends house into her own home and can not afford a tv for the family because she has been saving all of her money for rent and used furniture.

While there are others, we wanted to share with you a sampling of just how difficult these financial hard times are on people in the area.

If you or someone you know is in need of one of these television sets be sure to contact me at alberobutzo@wmconnect.com and let us know.

Joe Biden "Jokes" About Bringing Hundreds Of Millions Of US Taxpayer Dollars To Bailout Greece

Vice President Joe Biden, now best known for being the man who relies primarily on Jon Corzine for financial advice, [7]continued his recent roll of epic linguistic blunders this morning. As Reuters reports, the VP, "joked during a visit to debt-choked Athens on Monday about bringing money to help Greece out of its deepest financial crisis in decades. Introducing a member of his delegation during a meeting with Greek President Karolos Papoulias, Biden said: "This man represents the Treasury department. He's brought hundreds of millions of dollars." His comments drew laughs from both the Greek and U.S. delegations." It is unclear if the Greeks laughed because the noted number was orders of magnitude less than what would be needed to actually put a dent in the Greek fast-motion train wreck, or because everyone was waiting to see what the American taxpayer's response would be to learn that while America is hopelessly locked in gridlock of releasing more cash to that country's middle class, the US Treasury is quite happy to disburse taxpayer funding to Greece. We are holding out breath to find out.

Coming Soon To Your Cell Phone: Annoying Robo-Calls?

You’re in an important meeting with your boss and your cell phone rings. You answer it, thinking it could be urgent — and you hear a computerized voice hounding you about your credit card balance.

This kind of automated robo-call to a cell phone is illegal now, but that could be about to change. Bill collectors, the Chamber of Commerce and other industry groups want to lift the ban on robo-calls to cell phones — and there is a bill in Congress to do just that. Although telemarketers will still be banned, any company you have given your cell phone number to could use automated dialers to make “informational” calls to you — whether you want the information or not. And they could keep using your number for years — long after you have stopped doing business with them. Consumer groups and cell-phone users are pushing back, trying to keep cell phones off-limits from spam phone calls, but they will have a hard fight ahead of them.

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol
Fail to Remain Within a Single Lane

Resume:
Wilmington-Troopers have charged a 49 year old Garnet Valley, PA woman with DUI following a single vehicle crash that occurred on I95 Saturday evening.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:10 p.m. as a 2006 Honda Pilot being operated by Melissa P. Megee-49 of Garnet Valley, PA was traveling I95 northbound, just North of US 202. The Honda Pilot traveled off of the left (West) edge of the roadway onto the center grass median. The Honda Pilot continued to travel northeast on the grass median where it eventually reentered and crossed the northbound lanes of I95 with the Honda’s front right striking the guardrail on the right shoulder. The Honda flipped over the guardrail and overturned down an embankment, coming to rest on its wheels. Megee, who was not properly restrained, was trapped in the vehicle, wedged underneath of the dashboard for approximately 20 minutes before being extricated by firefighters and EMS personnel.

Megee was transported to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center by Delaware State Police Helicopter Trooper 4 where she was admitted with non life threatening injuries.

Megee was the sole occupant of the vehicle, and was charged with DUI, Fail to Remain within a Single Lane, and for not wearing a seatbelt. I95 northbound was closed initially, and then reopened with limited lane restrictions for approximately 1.5 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

“As the holiday season approaches, Troopers remind drivers to make the responsible decision and designate a driver.
Delaware Law requires all occupants of motor vehicles to wear their seatbelt. While wearing a seatbelt will not save you in every crash it will greatly reduce your risk of injury in most crashes.”

Postal Service Cuts Mean Slower Mail In 2012

The estimated $3 billion in reductions, to be announced in broader detail later Monday, are part of a wide-ranging effort by the Postal Service to quickly trim costs and avert bankruptcy. They could slow everything from check payments to Netflix's DVDs-by-mail, add costs to mail-order prescription drugs, and threaten the existence of newspapers and time-sensitive magazines delivered by postal carrier to far-flung suburban and rural communities.

Since the Daily Times has become so politically incorrect many readers have asked me to publish some of the Grapevine questions/statements in order to allow comments from BOTH sides. You see, the problem here is the fact that the Daily Times has so conveniently gone to Facebook for comments. Sine then, only their special interest people have been commenting. We plan to change that. Considering we have a larger on line audience, let's give these Grapevine Comments some real LIFE.

That being said, here's today's samples of what we feel will be interesting to YOU.

City tax differential

The Salisbury City Council is again requesting a tax differential from the county. The solution to this is simple: Salisbury needs to live up to its promise and begin to consolidate services such as police, wastewater and human resources. Then no differential would be necessary.

Comments:

Nice idea, consolidating city and county services, however, the county won't touch the idea until the wastewater treatment debacle is resolved. An $83 million dollar plant that doesn't work and is in need of at least $65 million in changes to make it work is not something that the county, or its taxpayers, will touch with a ten foot pole. And by the way, the Mayor, not the Council, initiated the request to the county, but the Council signed off on it.

City attorney

Who's on the City Council trying to make a power grab? Put it on a ballot to get an attorney. If they want an attorney, they should pay for it out of their own pockets.

Comments:

That would be Laura Mitchell. And, just so we're clear on this point, by Charter before the amendment, the Council was supposed to have free access to the city attorney. The Mayor wouldn't allow it, and heavily filtered all the information the attorney gave to the Council. The charter change took care of that problem. Laura Mitchell understands this, but is, like Mike Dunn, Louise Smith, Shanie Shields, Lynn Cathcart and others, an unapologetic tool of Big Money in Salisbury, and will create conflict where none should exist just to get Council off track and feather her own political nest and fill the pockets of her political buddies.

Arrests Made At Occupy DC Structure

Police have made arrests after members of the "Occupy DC" protest group constructed a wooden structure without a permit in McPherson Square overnight.

Park Police initially gave protestors one hour to dismantle the structure, but their request was refused. A few protestors began scuffling with police, after which arrests were made. Officers on horseback were also seen pushing the crowd back.

A group of six protestors were seen on the roof of the 30-foot-high building while police kept the crowd back with caution tape and tore out pieces of wood from the bottom of the structure. 15 other protestors were seen inside the structure. More arrests were made after protestors attempted to break through the tape to aid the protestors on the roof.

Shortly after noon Sunday, the protest group reported that three arrests had been made, according to Tim Craig of The Washington Post. However, that number was likely to increase as the afternoon went on.

Debt Slavery – Why It Destroyed Rome, Why It Will Destroy Us Unless It’s Stopped

Book V of Aristotle’s Politics describes the eternal transition of oligarchies making themselves into hereditary aristocracies – which end up being overthrown by tyrants or develop internal rivalries as some families decide to “take the multitude into their camp” and usher in democracy, within which an oligarchy emerges once again, followed by aristocracy, democracy, and so on throughout history.

Debt has been the main dynamic driving these shifts – always with new twists and turns. It polarizes wealth to create a creditor class, whose oligarchic rule is ended as new leaders (“tyrants” to Aristotle) win popular support by cancelling the debts and redistributing property or taking its usufruct for the state.

GOP Supercommittee Member Admits Bush Tax Cuts Didn’t Create Jobs, Can’t Explain Why

Republicans this week filibustered a Democratic plan to extend a soon-to-expire payroll tax cut, objecting to the fact that the extension was paid for by implementing a small surtax on income in excess of $1 million. To justify their objection to taxing the wealthy, Republicans have revived their false claim that taxing the rich amounts to taxing small business owners and job creators.
