Incident: DUI / Warrant Arrest

Suspect: Ryan David Rivera, 26, Fruitland, MD
Narrative: On 19 October 2011 at 1:44 AM, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle on Beaglin Park Drive operated by Ryan Rivera for a non-functioning tail lamp. Upon approach to the vehicle, Rivera immediately exclaimed he was going to jail because his license was suspended. While speaking with Rivera, the deputy detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from Rivera.
When asked why he was suspended, Rivera told the deputy it was for a previous DUI arrest. The deputy administered field sobriety tests on Rivera and determined that Rivera was currently operating his vehicle
while under the influence of alcohol. Rivera was transported to the Maryland State Police barrack for a breath test which revealed a result over the .08 limit.
The deputy also discovered a Wicomico County Circuit bench Warrant for failure to appear for a hearing on Oct 14, 2011 for a charge arising out of a previous DUI case.
The deputy subsequently transported Rivera to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and booked into the Detention Center.
