Salisbury City Solicitor Paul Wilber Will Go From One Boss To Five

The City Council is about to make a vote on taking the powers away from the Mayor Jim Ireton being in complete control of the City Attorney to losing 100% of those powers and turning it over to the City Council, a logical legislative move.

Shanie and Laura are totally against the move and claim they are getting phone calls from people being upset with such a move and quite frankly I call BS on those statements. Nevertheless, this will move forward and I know first hand that Mayor Ireton is very upset with this move as well.

I'm glad to see Debbie, Terry and Tim worked so hard to campaign and finally start moving the City in the right direction. While one side is playing checkers, the majority are playing chess and a mighty fine game of check mate at that.

Much more to come on this tomorrow.

  1. Oh, let me add, don't think Paul Wilber is upset with this one bit, unless he gets fired. Reason being, undoubtably the City Council will run up larger attorney fees UNTIL they get things back in order. To those who oppose this, shut up. We did things your way for far too many years. Let this Council do their job and I can assure you in the very near future you will appreciate their hard work. That is, unless you are one of those special interests who is about to lose a lot of money.

  3. The 3 will be stupid to get rid of Wilber. I have said before and I will say again, I know Wilber and he practices law.

    And?

  6. 8:22 Obviously you don't understand the difference in an attorney who really practices law and others who practice politics, favoritism, etc. Wilber is a man of character and practices law.

You are an F*N idiot. Wilbur has proven numerous times that he practices what he is paid to say for who is paying him.

It would be much cheaper for the city to hire an attorney full time instead of someone like Wilber's caliber who keeps ringing up the tab. Ching Ching!!

  8. Hope you don't have to eat them words Joe. My view is different than yours. Hope you have GA fill us in, as your explanations are too confusing or never say anything but how great Tim, Debbie and Terry are. I do not care how upset Jim is, all I want are the facts not who is playing chess and checkers. I do believe Shanie and Laura are getting plenty of phone calls as well as the other three. Looks to me like it will end up with CC hiring 5 lawyers so each can prove their point. Be careful what you wish for is all I've left to say.

No, I didn't get all that in your previous statement. I guess I don't have the code. Which direction do I have to turn the tin foil hat to get your signal?

  10. Wah Wah Wah cries Jim Beau. Guess what Jimmy Boy, if you wouldn't have lied to us during your campaign you would have gotten rid of Wilber like you promised.

  13. Late getting home and wanted to watch it, so I'm glad there is SBY News to say what's going on!

I read the letter to the editor Cohen wrote on Sunday in the daily rag (yes, I confess).

This is a reasonable move. I don't get the sky is falling bull.

Let it play out. Some people don't like that there is a new majority. But I am one of those people who is glad to see it. What is the point of having elections if everything stays the same? I thought Jim Ireton was going to change things, but he was just another politician saying he would.

My two cents for the night. Thanks for being here for us, Joe.

  16. So, Laura wanted unlimited debate. Was that to give Jim time to arrive? Laura and Jim seemed to be talking from the same script once Jim's letter was read by Pick (anyone else catch all the points that matched like to 83%/17%% nonsense)? Coincidence? Wilber reported to be Insley's dining companion? Chris Adams claiming to be a resident. Resident of what? I don't think she lives in Salisbury. Does she have an interest in the outcome - why did she want to maintain the status quo? Good for Spies, Cohen and Campbell. Please. try to get the city's house in order.

  18. They should look at the legal fees next -- for his "services" at that meeting, Wilber got about $500 I think.

  19. Pure power politics.

The Two Queens & the Jester continue to screw the taxpayers.

Wilber or his replacement is laughing all the way to the bank.

  20. Next move, get rid of Wilber. It has been way too long of a ride for him. Agree with 8:42; 10:42; 10:51 and 11:21 PM.

  21. Jim promised these changes that for the most part aren't happening. The only three members of the council with integrity are looking like they are going to make these changes, with or without Ireton.

Great job Terry, Debbie and Tim. Keep up the good work.

  22. 10:04, I think YOU are smokin' it. Look at what you wrote (You should have done that before sending). The spelling and grammar are atrocious

  23. I am glad the council majority is done turning the other cheek.

Somebody has to have a backbone for the good of the city. Ireton talked a good game to get into office but didn't deliver anything but the same old same old and a bunch of name calling finger pointing press conferences. Even the great new police chief was the council's doing because Ireton wanted somebody else.

  24. It is about time somebody did something about that attorney and crooked firm he is with, I hope they hire someone good!
