Yesterday we posted a notice about a “Community Dialogue” program on Wicomico County’s property tax revenue cap. Now, as someone once said, “here’s the rest of the story.”
The notice was send to hundreds of folks as an e-mail by Michael Pretl, who in the past has been among Pollitt’s most ardent supporters – he even hosted a fund raiser for him during last year’s election campaign.
After last year’s election campaign, in which he avoided serious discussion about Wicomico County’s tax revenue cap, Mr. Pollitt seems to be back in the saddle to get it repealed.
The “Neighborhood Congress” that he got started a few years ago and controls through the effort of Mr. Pretl is sponsoring the program. The “featured speakers” are none other than Joe Ollinger and Wayne Strausburg, with Memo Diriker as the moderator.
This is a set-up if ever there were and reeks of Pollitt and his “public information officer” directing things behind the curtain with Pretl as the front man.
But that’s not all – Strausburg is the head of the new “Charter Review” Commission that will recommend changes.
The Tea-party types need to pack the place and voice their position loud and clear. Where’s Don Coffin and John Palmer when we need them?
We also need a 'good' candidate that is willing to work within the budget provided by the capped revenue stream demanded by the voters.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be to concerned about loosing much sleep over this event - as it will most likely be like the 'Preacher speaking to the Choir' event.

Those 2 clowns have always been outspoken about the Revenue cap.
It's the economy, Rickey/stupid -- now is not the time to raise taxes.
ReplyDelete12:56, I'm not sure that the voters "demanded" the budget provided by the capped revenue stream. Yes, they voted for it, but I believe that many, maybe most, of the electorate did not understand what they were voting for. Certainly they didn't foresee at the time the ramifications of their vote. I bet that, if the issue were again on the ballot, they would vote to repeal and, instead, implement a 2%tax cap on all property owners. Many of us have seen our taxes continue to rise despite the cap, because it is not a TAX CAP. Just look, for example, at what the lack of sufficient revenue has done to the school system. This is not what the voters wanted, I believe.

ReplyDeleteThe govt is doing all of this to make you look like a blind fool... And so far your right in there...
Of course no one wanted the school system do be where it is today... BUT the govt made it this way and is doing so on all fronts... If it looks to be broken, then it usually is... The govt is doing that to have a reasoning to say hey this is broken, we have to fix it... how can we fix it.. Oh I know, taxes and fees and levies and the like...
Sound familiar? Nothing works because the govt at any level is raiding the funds of other things to pay for others, and the money that gets taken never gets put back... hence why nothing has money or works... Hence the reason for higher cost and taxes...
Look to put it bluntly and take with a grand of salt or not... But the govt is working hard to get us into a ONE WORLD GOVT... that is all... all you have to do is look, listen and read... you see higher and higher taxes, fees, and the like... cost of living and food and the like are higher yet no raise in minimum wage... All the increasing in pay grades for the elite yet the regular people are losing wages every day... They govt wants to take our right of protection away, the govt wants us to not protest... The govt gives illegals things the natural born citizen cant even get... All you have to do is look and you will see they are taxing and raising things that WE ALL USE, not the things only a select few use... I.E the gas tax... or the proposal of a tax on the miles you drive...
If that were the case then everyone would walk, then they would charge an arm and a leg for shoes, or rubber, or shoe laces or for just being on your feet...
all I know is, as broke as I am, and the rest of the people who work hard for their money are, and all the taxes and crap I pay, this country shouldn't be broke, and it probably isn't, they just say it is...
If they do away with the revenue cap,all Pollitt will do is hire more people to do nothing and the taxpayers will not see anything different!
ReplyDelete2:32, I am 1:24, and I have no idea what you are trying to communicate in all that gibberish. As a retired English teacher, I would send it back to you for revision. Because you evidently have little understanding of the subject, you feel it's better--and maybe it makes you feel better--
ReplyDeleteto tell me to "STFU" (and, yes, I do know what that means. Real class!)
Because I don't know what point you are making (Do YOU know?), I will take it with a "grand of salt." (I think you mean "grain of salt.") Maybe because I was an educator, I can understand better than you the restraints that the school system is working under and the impact that the ill-conceived revenue cap has had on not only the school system but in all other areas that depend on government funding to operate.
I will now read what you wrote for about the fourth time. Maybe at some point I'll get it.
