It's been reported Delmarva Recycling, on Boundary St., has been taken over by a Baltimore company and has reduced work force from about 38 down to 13 - 15.
Wow , if they can produce the same with about 15 people , then maybe that's why they went under. People have to understand , the ball game is over , either produce or hit the road.
maybe the owner just wanted to make sure he got some return on his investment people go in business to make money. Its becoming more and more difficult for small and mid size companies to be profitable with all the obama legislation.
Kind of like the big companies all of a sudden letting 5,000 people go. What, you didn't notice everybody on Facebook all freaking day, and taking 3 hour lunches? 5,000 people slacking, and you didn't notice. You deserve to go under, just a shame the rest of us have to pay for it.
It is now called Salisbury Scrap Metal and is owned by Joseph Smith Co.from Capitol Heights Md. They also own Sussex Scrap Metal in Delmar Del. One thing that will happen is that they will clean up that crap hole so you can go there without wearing hip boots or having a four wheel drive pick up. They also need a nicer person in the scale house. Hear that Bovich.
Maybe the 25 people who were downsized lived under the old 58 Chevy in the yard where all the empty beverage bottles were scattered. You never know... After all, it was a recycling yard.
i do enjoy recycling and feel i do my part, but every time i go over there, they make me feel like a criminal. There are so many papers to fill out, and talking to a lady behind bullet proof glass and they have to know what type of vehicle i drove up in. All to recycle cans!
"In the Daily Times story about the company, former owner Greg Stein says that the new company will keep all the existing 35 employees"
DT may say it, Greg Stein may say it -- but it ain't true. Ask the people who have ALREADY been fired -- some of whom worked for DR for more than 30 years.
Oh, the point being made here, about the business changing hands and downsizing, isn't that the previous business was or was not inefficient, only that Salisbury is hurt by the loss of jobs, regardless.
