  1. Joe, Be fair.

It's wrong to stress another downtown business closing.

    Their memo doesn't mention downtown.

They're closing because of the economy & retirement not location.

  2. You have a different take on this letter than I. It says the sale does NOT include its office at One Plaza East which also houses the investment and mortgage division. Hanna, Kremer and Tilghman Insurance Inc. are selling their insurance business to Avery Hall Insurance. I do not see mentioned in the letter that "several employees are looking for employment".

Although downtown was not mentioned so you are correct. What also is not in the comment is how the company was ran into the ground by poor management similiar to the local goverment during the tilghman administration. Had Ed Kremer stayed the organization would still be thriving. I have no personal stake in either entity but if we are going to call a spade a spade atleast lets admit why they are closing and the employees will suffer. It isnt the Banks problem as much as the regime getting richer and not caring who is poor! I hope my fellow community members find jobs quickly to feed their families!

  4. That's because YOU don't know what us INSIDERS know. Now don't you worry. I'll be doing an UPDATE on this Post in a week or two. Sweating bullets yet?

  5. Uh Oh, just when the powers to be thought they'd be the only ones commenting here, here come the cvomments. LMAO

  6. Hey Joe. You forgot to add what was said at the bottom of that internal memo from Ed Thomas. "Please let me know if you have any questions. Please refer any cusomers or media questions to me." I love this anonymous option.

  7. Matt Tilghman has screwed some employees after 30 years of dedicated service. I heard they have a few days to get their stuff together and find another job. He's just like his wife. Two bitches barking at eachother all day and night. It should be an interesting retirement. Ruff Ruff, here's a bone.

  8. Im sure both him and his wife stand to pee so they are similiar in that regard. The suck as business owners/public officals, so they have that in common, and the whole family drinks more wine the the wineos on the streets do. I know they have loads of money but if money makes you look this foolish I am happy begin me! Maybe one day someone will finally get a chance to screw them oh yea Joe did when he kicked their ass in court!

  9. Ed was not kidding when he said there are a significant number of problem loans.

Let's start with the Condos on the Ditch. I am pretty sure I saw several recording loan instruments on several occasions. Fact is - the property values of these properties have drastically diminished - so the Bank is probably on the hook.

  10. Ed is right there are a lot of bad loans on the books but Insurance companies and banks have to be seperate entities. If we are looking at the bone head loans that the good ole boys approved how can that legally effect an insurance company. It is of my opinion this is just a Cop out. As a share holder in dbcp I feel my stock I purchased in the 20.00's which is no worth next to nothing now is only one entity as well. This sale didnt happen in a weeks time so if what I have read above is true and Hanna, Kremer and Tilghman employees have few days that is absurd. I used to be insured with Hanna, Kremer and Tilghman and I am glad I am not now, I will however be talking to my Bank of Delmarva branch manager to see what else is for sell. How safe is my money. In no way do I have any negative comments towards Avery Hall as they did what any smart company would do purchase the weak! If I was a client of Hanna, Kremer and Tilghman I would want some answers quickly before they are no longer around. Prime example of one reason the economy is the way it is!!!!! Good ole boys keep passing money while they screw everyone in the way. Ed Kremer, Mat Tilghman in some way or another made a good deal out of this transaction and I have heard that the Hanna, Kremer and Tilghman staff has no real guarantee's with regards to their future employment but I bet certain employees do!!!!!

  11. I find it interesting and disturbing that the CUSTOMERS of HK&T had NO knowlege of this!
We don't care for Avery Hall.
I wonder when they were going to notify the CUSTOMERS!

  12. Look at the board of the bank and you will see at least one member battling Alzheimer's, at best, and a couple others in early dementia/Alzheimer's. They are a microcosm of what's going on throughout the country. The Supreme Court can rule that corporations are people but cannot imbue those corporations with morals, ethics or conscience. Look at the insurance agency and you'll see piss-poor, idiotic decisions made in recent years that ran the agency into the ground. But a couple employees got their asses covered - to hell with the loyal ones. Loyalty to their employees and a sham family atmosphere was an illusion. The bank nor the agency looked out for their employees. Tilghman's retiring? Reportedly, he will be working as a consultant at AWHall. Which is it? The bank will not receive our business again and AWHall will lose our business as long as certain HKT employees are there.

    ReplyDelete
  13. This is a prime example of why the good ole boys networking only benefits a few. I have spoken to a few HKT employee's they are in shock. Not allowed to ask questions, no help from HR, just once Avery Hall pays us the money all of you need to find another job. very sad for people who have dedicated a life time in some cases.

Look deeper into the dealings and see who was guaranteed jobs and look at the remainder of people who were not. Mat consulting at Avery Hall only brings negativity to Avery Hall. Its of my understanding that not only Mat, but another HKT employee was guaranteed a job a Avery Hall. Every other employee has to hope and pray......makes this even more interesting

I have a friend who is employed with HKT and has been for some time, this individual in a week or so will having nothing!

I hope that Mat enjoyes retirement and that everyday Barrie continues to boss him around, make him look like the dumba@@ he is.

Owning shares in dbcp I want to know when this sale information will be public to the share holders?

  14. I love that so many people know exactly what is going on. I think the bank employee who shared the memo/letter should lose their job and then know how the employees of H K & T Ins feel. And Joe why do you need to constantly run down the Tilghmans just because you won a court case. Trust me you do not know all the facts. I think you just thrive on bad things that happen to good people. But one thing you don't know is that H K & T is a family and no matter what you post they are all survivors and will get through this as well. I could tell you a few true things but why bother you are the man with all the answers- you and your inside snitch. I really hope things that have happened to the employees of H K & T Ins will happen to you and your snitch. Wonder if that was the president of the Bank of Delmarva.....sounds like it could be. You started this so when are you going to finish it and leave innocent people alone for once in your life. Oh thats right you don't have a life. That is why you do what you do.....Once a snake always a snake....What color snake are you- black or red? You need to get a life....

  15. Joe, Been away from Sby for a while now. Still a depositor at Bank of Delmarva. What is their relationship with this HKT situation

    ReplyDelete
  16. Joe, I would like to see an article on the Bank Of Delmarva "dbcp" why their stock is worth 10% of what it was a few years ago. They may be next on the chopping block. Ed Thomas may be looking for a job.

  17. anonymous 12:01, did you read ANYTHING about this in the Daily Times? NO. WHY, well, they were quick to put it out there that Urban Salisbury was shutting down and claimed it was the lack of funding from the City.

You see, a certain and particular group CONTROLLS the DT's and the information that does or does not get out there.

If it were not for Salisbury News, IF I had not won the lawsuit from Barrie Tilghman, she would still be in office and things would be VERY different today.

You can claim I don't have a life but perhaps you should look a lot deeper before you open your big mouth.

I run Salisbury News because I want to run Salisbury News. I, (unlike you) HAVE made a difference and I have given back to this community. I stood up to Barrie Tilghman, face to face, dollar for dollar and I beat the living cvrap out of her in court. So why does that bother you so much?

The judgement went 100% in my favor because I had NOT done anything wrong. YOU need to wake up to reality and accept DEFEAT.

As for what's going on with this story, WHY wasn't it announced like Urban Salisbury then??????

I have a life. I retired 10 years ago, I have a wonderful Wife, great kids and 3 Grandchildren. Life is good and we continue to grow every single day at Salisbury News.

Oh, that's right, you have to work every day, pay a mortgage, car payments. Sounds to me like YOU need to get a life like mine, one day. LOL

  18. Joe:

You said: "If it were not for Salisbury News, IF I had not won the lawsuit from Barrie Tilghman, she would still be in office and things would be VERY different today.

True -- we would be better off with Barrie than we are with Jim-beau!

  19. I don't think M. T. will really be a consultant at Avery Hall. Didn't they can him some years back -- shortly before he relocated to Eastom, PA?

IMHO he will be paid to do nothing and get a huge tax break. And to think that it was his mismanagement that resulted in HK&T being taken over by that Bank some years back.

What's confusing is why the HK&T "book" of business is worth anything to Avery Hall.

  20. Wanna bet Mr. & Ms. T move away -- probably to Florida -- ASAP.

And it will be a good riddance.

  21. 12:01 the tilghmans are not good people so who gives a sh@t about what happens to them! ever think they are part of the problem around here?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Can anyone refresh my memory about the purchase of HKT by BoDelmarva? As I recall, the Tilghman's got stock as part of that deal and Barrie may have had some conflicts of interest while Mayor. Dunn also finally disclosed stock ownership, as I recall.

  23. I too would like to know why may Bank of Delmarva Stock is worth 10 % of what it was once worth. Can someone please explain?

    ReplyDelete
  24. You will never get a straight answer on you dbcp stock as the company is very shady with their clients/emoployees. It may turn out to be a good think for the employee's of HKT to be from under this toxic enviroment. The bond was only formed because someone didnt want to be in to deep with HKT.

  26. I'm really just about sick and tired of, literally, EVERYONE. From the negativity and vindictive behavior of everyone....that goes from Albero to the Tilghmans, to the current and past elected officials, the negligence of the Main Stream Media as well as the opportunistic behavior of the bloggers.......and to the readers/posters who feed off of this destructive new forum.
I sure wish there were a way that all with an opinion or criticism could stand toe-toe and express whatever they need to express. If I could leave society, as it exists; I would. Then I would never have to hear read or see anymore of you all again.
BY THE WAY: THIS IS MY FIRST POST TO THIS SITE....NEVER BEEN DRIVEN TO DO IT BEFORE......and the last.

  28. Perhaps someone needs to google to find out which regulator oversees BD, provide some background (even these posts) and ask them to look into what has led to this and see if it"s on the up and up. It would be nive to put public speculation to rest by someone trained to assess these matters.

    ReplyDelete
  29. anon 136

we dont need anything to assess it is on the up and up! Its all over Salisbury. From HKT insured, bank clients and other insurance agencies.

Joe thanks for keeping things in the eye of Salisbury.

  30. A disgruntled employee of HKT, clearly posted this. This is a business matter, and should not be a matter of bashing certain people. One business buys out another, what's the big deal? And I've heard that the employees of the insurance division are able to apply at AH. Not as big of a mountain as you are making it out to be. The bank, and investments part of HKT are still according to the internal memo going to exhist. They have only sold their insurance part to a better more fitting company.
