Today's Survey Question 9-2-11

With a nearly $900 million surplus, do you still believe Maryland should raise taxes and tolls?

  1. i would question the reported surplus. since the tolls have not been raised in many years; they need to be raised, but not "hugely". (don't know if that's a word)......

  3. No taxes , no raised tolls , just send the surplus money to P. G. County , those poor little butt heads need it so bad.

  4. I should add, government is not supposed to be in the business of MAKING money!

This is exactly why the liberals want to spend more and more. They drive businesses out of the state by punishing them with higher taxes and then some fool comes along and says, well, it's been too long since the last increase.

    Makes my blood boil!

  5. Sure give the greedy basturds all of it then they can take care of us. If they keep on all of the money will be the governments and you will get an allowance each week socialism at it's best!
This is exactly what King Obamma wants anyway.

  7. Hell NO, don't raise the tolls!

  8. If we really do have a $900 million surplus we need to cut taxes. As confirmed by the Laffer Curve, cutting taxes will actually result in increased revenues to the state.

  9. YES, raise them both.

  10. The last I heard, Md. had a $1 billion deficit. That's why the legislature will be meeting in a special session.Iam a little confused.

  11. "My bad" (2:12). I should have scrolled down further (or read the blog earlier). I see that, indeed, Md. does have a surplus for the year. Quite a change from the earlier-reported deficit!

  12. All the State bookkeeping should be audited. The swing between the surplus and deficit is too unbelievable. No, no, and no to raising any more money for them to spend on unwarrented agendas.

That explains your lack of intellect.

  16. How about we get an even larger surplus and get rid of some of the state employees?

Let's cut their pensions and raise the retirement age like the feds wanted to do to the military.
