A Comment Worthy Of A Post And More

"Does anyone know the reason that the Worcester County Dept of Social Services, specifically the Child Support Division, have today and Monday off with pay. Both the State and County websites only list Monday as the paid holiday. Did all county offices get an extra paid holiday and why? Just another little secret the general public knows nothing about!!"

The Department of Motor Vehicle is also closed today and Monday. Must be that sweet $900,000,000.00 State Surplus!!!!!

  1. When the Governor negotiated the new employee contract, part of the agreement included 5 service reduction days for the 2012 fiscal year. It's his way of saying thank you to the State employees for the many furlough days they had to take.

  2. It is a mandatory furlough day for State Workers. They are not being paid for today.

  3. Mandatory furlough day - it is not with pay.

  4. No it is not a furlough day. It is a PAID day off.

  5. To answer your question about the DMV, state employees have one of five paid "service reduction" days today. This makes for a four day weekend for all non-essential state employees.

Before you blast the state, realize this kind gesture towards the employees doesn't begin to compensate for years of forced furlough (no-pay) days, pay/ cost of living increase freezes, on top of the "temporary reduction in salary act". Also keep in mind state employees are now forced to pay union dues, even if they choose not to be a part of the union as per the new "fair share act". For the last 3years the cost of everything from gas to groceries has risen while take home pay has declined. As a state employee, I find it nice to finally get a little something back for years of hard sacrifices.

Not sure why a Worcester county agency would be closed though.

  6. 11:42 is a cry baby just like most state employees. If you had to make a living in the real world you'd realize that your jobs are really GRAVY jobs.

  7. 11:46 apparently you are not a very intelligent person who works in the real world because State Employers deal with more dumb people then other employers who work normal jobs, so before 11:46 you go down grading people that work for the state know what your talking about... (also by the way i am not a state worker just have a little bit of common sense)! Have a good Labor Day :)

  8. I too was forced to take a reduction of hours, no raise (cost of living or otherwise)for the last 2 years. Also, gas and groceries costs increased for everyone, not just state workers, so 11:42's reasoning for state workers to get something back doesn't really fly since I and all the other taxpayers are funding their "something back." Unfortunately my employer doesn't have the backs of the taxpayers to offer "something back".

  9. First, 11:46 you are an ugly person.
Someone should look into, forcing employees to pay union dues when they infact do not want to be a part of the union. This Fair Share Act is just wrong. Maybe one of our fine lawyers would like to address this.?.

  10. I'd like to see the idiot who said people in the Wor. County Social Services devision have cushy jobs spend ONE DAY doing the work those people do and then get back to us. People have too damn much to say about stuff they don't know about.

  11. 12:30 - are you serious? What are you implying? That people who have a need that requires them to deal with a state worker are dumb? Seems to me you were doing some down-grading yourself.

  12. Stop whining about your furlough days!
I took a pay CUT and lost my health insurance benefits just to KEEP MY JOB!
I was happy to do it when it came down to it just so I had a job!
There are many of us making sacrifices, just some are having to make more than others.
Be glad you have that government job! I'd LOVE to have one. Those jobs will always be around.
My job? If anything ever happens to my boss, my job will be GONE because the place I work will be closed for good. I still come to work every day and do my job to the best of my ability. I also wake up every morning thankful I have a job.
    So stop your whining!

  13. I want to see the MOST worthless of ALL state employees, namely the Governor, his bloated staff, and the entire legislative body AND all of THEIR staff take some "furlough days"...Oh my bad, they're the ones who think the serfs can't live without their constant and wise guidance (and supervision, lest we get out of line). Which is coming.

  14. A mandatory salary reduction day means just that......salaries have been reduced over the course of the fiscal year for those days designated as salary reduction days. So yes, the state employees are off but their salaries have been reduced to compensate. This differs from a furlough day in which employees are off without pay for that particular pay period.

  15. Bend over people , here it comes again.
Good ole government gets what it wants and we pay for it.
    The state employees suck!

    All you whiners suck!
    The MVA sucks!
This was a good secret until SBY News. Thanks Joe

  16. Try to make an appointment at Worcester child services (if you are a man) after 1 PM on Friday...you can't because they are all in the back watching movies and playing games...No joke, saw it myself when I worked there.

If you are NOT a state employee, how would you know how many dumb people they have to tolerate?

And if NOT a state employee, what qualifies you to even speak on this matter?

And why do you no longer work there?

  19. God forbid people get TWO paid days off! Those CPS workers deserve it. And chances are, one or more of them is on call anyway.
