Salisbury Police Department Press Releases

On September 17, 2011 at approximately 11:59 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police received a call to respond to the area of the Salvation Army on Vine Street for the report of an assault with possible gun shots fired. Upon arrival the officers met with the victim who advised that he had been located inside of his vehicle in the area of the Salvation Army when he was approached by the below listed suspect, who is related to the victim by marriage, in a threatening manner. The suspect was in possession of a handgun and pointed the handgun at him. The victim was able to escape from the suspect and observed the suspect retreat to his vehicle and put the handgun away. The victim then approached and became involved in an altercation with the unarmed suspect. The suspect entered his vehicle and began to leave the parking lot causing the victim to jump onto the vehicle in an attempt to stop him. After a short distance the victim fell from the vehicle onto the roadway. The victim was transported to the Peninsula Regional Medical Center for minor injuries and was treated and released.

There was no evidence of any shots having been fired from the handgun.

Detectives from the Salisbury Police obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect, who was taken into custody at approximately 10:38 pm. The handgun was recovered and placed into Salisbury Police Property. This investigation is continuing.

On September 17, 2011 at approximately 7:11 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police arrested the below listed suspect on an outstanding arrest warrant for a theft that occurred on August 9, 2011. On that date officers met with employees of a local pawn business in reference to the theft of a computer from a sales display. The employees advised that a suspect had entered the store to sell items but took a computer that was on a display for sale. Detectives from the Salisbury Police were able to identify the suspect, listed below, and obtained the warrant.

ARRESTED: Leroy James Fenner, 27 years of age
Fruitland, Maryland

CHARGES: Theft (less than $ 1,000)

On September 18, 2011 at approximately 11:27 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police were on routine patrol in the area of South Salisbury Boulevard and East College Avenue and stopped a vehicle operated by the below listed suspect for traffic violations. During contact with the suspect the officers detected the odor of suspected marijuana emanating from within the vehicle. The vehicle was checked and as a result the officers located two (2) bags of suspected marijuana and a smoking device containing suspected marijuana residue.

CHARGES: Possession of marijuana (3 counts)
Possession of CDS/Paraphernalia (3 counts)
