People are already waiting at the Wicomico County Debris landfill to remove debris from the hurricane. What happened to Wicomico's disaster plan? Why hasn't the landfill taken these preliminary emergency measures. This photo was taken at 10:30 a.m. this morning.
The sun is shining - though a bit breezy - but the landfill is closed.
Of course its closed.
ReplyDeleteThese things take time.
Clean up now.
READ the sign!! Open Sunday from 1pm - 5pm. It ain't time to open yet!

ReplyDeleteI believe the commentary alludes to the fact that the County should have had an emergency measure to allow people to take their fallen debris.
The photo shows the gate closed.
But then again - as Pollitt would say - you get what you pay for. I guess this means we taxpayers can cut his pay.
It really does not surprise me.
ReplyDeletePollitt tends to 'shoot from hip'. He won't budge unless someone prods him.
Is salisbury open
ReplyDeletewhat a bunch of whiners, didn't see damage in wico worthy of opening the dump early on a Sunday, get over yourselves!
ReplyDelete2:32 bi^& me. how are people going to help with clean up if there's nowhere for it to go. A little pre-planning and organization and decision-making??? O forgot! Dick Pollitt is our executive.
ReplyDeleteNow the question is:
ReplyDeleteDid they open at 1:00 PM on time?
My neighbors are all making burn piles, and I have a pile that will eventually compost out. No need to take it to the dump.
2:32, apparently you didn't open your eyes. There is TONS of debris that needs cleaning up.

ReplyDeleteNo they did not open on time. In fact - I'm not even sure they were suppose to be open as there was no one manning the debris operation. All I saw were dozens of trucks dumping their debris - but no County personnel.
