Star Gazers, Honey Bees And Cane Poles Are Coming To Pemberton Historical Park This Summer

Salisbury, MD – Events at Pemberton Historical Park are heating up this summer!  On Friday, July 8 at 9:00pm, the Park will hold its first Star Gazers program. Join us for an interesting evening about the night sky and enjoy fun activities, crafts, prizes, and a great view of the heavens up close with a giant telescope.  If you have a telescope or binoculars please feel free to bring them along. Pre-registration is required.

Folks are invited back to the Park on Saturday, July 9 at 11:00am for the Honey Bees program.  Honey bees are one of the most interesting creatures in the insect world. Visitors will learn about their hives, caste system, habits and how bees make honey.  Guests can also take a closer look at the Park’s observation hive, have fun playing games and making crafts and get a taste of our local honey.  Pre-registration is not required for this program.

The offerings continue Saturday afternoon with the Cane Poles program at 1:00pm.  Guests can build their own fishing pole (to keep) and try it out on our fishy friends at the pond. Those interested can also learn how to spot a good fishing hole, responsible fishing practices, what bait to use and when the best time to fish is depending on the season. Homemade fishing poles can be taken home at the end of the day. Please pre-register for this program.

Children looking to get outdoors more often this summer can join Park staff for Pemberton’s Summer Nature Camp.  This day camp is for children who enjoy exploring and learning about the natural world around them. There are summer camps available for children ages 4-14. Nature camps provide lots of learning opportunities and tons of hands-on outdoor fun. All Pemberton Park summer campers will receive a camp T-shirt, snacks and drinks each day. Each camp session (except 4-year old camps) includes a half-day of kayaking.

Star Gazers, Honey Bees and Can Poles are $6 per person, $18 for a family of four and are free to members of the Park.  Prices for Pemberton’s Summer Nature Camp vary per week based on the programs offered.  Pemberton Historical Park is located at 5561 Plantation Lane in Salisbury, MD.  For more information or to pre-register, please contact Kerri Liming at 410-860-2447 or email pembertonpark@wicomicocounty.org.
