The House of Delegates and Senate Monday night passed a new 3% sales tax on alcohol sold in stores, bars and restaurants, with most of the proceeds in the first year going to schools and school construction. Gov. Martin O’Malley said Monday he will sign the two bills, which will go into effect July 1.

ReplyDeleteI love the qualifiers --- "most of the money' and "in the first year". And we are tearing the teachers a new ace, because "they make too much money" and their benefits are too good", but we now have our leaders want to build MORE schools? Who's gonna be working in them? For the record, their pay isn't good enough to put up with what they have to endure. Also, for the record, these taxes are only the BEGINNING...I say that to all you people who voted for whoever you did, thinking THEY were going to do anything other than tax you more and dig deeper into your wallet. Just like I told you last November......
