Wicomico River Temporary Closure
The Wicomico County Department of Environmental Health and The Salisbury Public Works Department announced at 9:00 AM today that due to a sanitary sewer overflow from a sewer main in Fitzwater Street that the Wicomico River is closed until tomorrow morning at 8:00 AM for fishing and contact sports.
The emergency was caused by a break in a 10 inch wastewater line in Fitzwater Street. Approximately 10,000 gallons of partially treated wastewater entered the storm drain system which flows to the river. The flow of wastewater from the pipe has been stopped and repairs are being made under the direction of the Salisbury Public Works Staff.

Just about all the pipes are in need of repair. Think about when they were all originally installed.
