Gunshots In Hammond St Area

Don't know any details, but there was just a shooting on Pyle St. between Hammond and Jefferson.  I heard 8-12 shots, then a bunch of kids ran by my house and said someone was just shot.  I live about 5 houses away down Hammond St.  Police were there almost immediately so I don't know if they were the ones doing the shooting or what.  If you can get some details posted when you find something out, it might help my wife sleep tonight.

  1. Shots were fired at the second floor of a house. Male occupant steps outside to see. Two # 2 suspects shoot at him with a machine gun and spray the house. Female near the car hits the alarm button and they spray the car with bullets. Female was shot several times in the legs. One suspect captured quickly and the other at large. SPD apprehended a # 2 male around 6 pm with a gun just a few blocks away. Safe streets my behind Jimmy Boy.

  2. Nice! And then read farther down on sbynews and people are complaining about the police tasing someone, who as a result of something maybe not the taser, died. They want to speak down about the police and how corrupt they are and that the guy dieing is there fault! It must be people like that that have never been a victim of anything. They will be the first to complain when the police dont respond quick enough to there call for service! Please if you are one of those nay saying, police hating, anarchist, then please dont call the police no matter what your complaint. But if you do they will respond and be professional no matter what you think of them, say to them whatever! They do their thanless job everyday and get spit in the face by turds like one who made the post under the taser forum. They have a job to do and are trained well, given the tools to hopefully survive and are expected to use those tools with in their use of force policy. And most taser policies are a lower use of force than pepper spray and empty hand techniques (they are excort holds/pressure points, etc. So go back in your little bubble where nothing ever happens to you and stay their we will all be happier!

  3. The cops getting there quick may have been safe streets helping out.

  4. Safe Streets can't even get a public hearing. I'm not an Ireton fan, but I have to say that the responsibility for the failure to bring the Safe Streets Inititive to a public hearing falls squarely on Louweasel's shoulders.

  5. Where's "Take back our streets"? My point, tough talk will not do a thing. I hope Matt makes a difference! I hope the talk will stop. LE will just SHUT THEIR MOUTHS and just do their jobs!

  6. Well lets face it folks Salisbury is a dangerous place. If you want an exciting weekend just tape a couple of twenty bills to your shirt and walk down any street in Salisbury. I can promise you some action.

When the police are responding to twice the calls for service then they did fifteen years ago with the same number of officers you can not win.

Ireton needs to speak with the Mayor of Columbia South Carolina. The city was identical to Salisbury in homicides and violence.

They brought in Feds that have deep pockets for just this type of problem. The feel good programs are way to late when it comes to the problem currently a hand. They will work on children that have not been lost to the gang life. If thy are in good luck getting them out.

I understand four guns were siezed last night. It sounds like one may have been fully automatic. Guns in the hands of violent children/gang members should carry adult status period.

It is way over due for all the county police to form a task faorce to deal with this issue. The recent safe streets units pounded the problem. It did stay quiet for a week. The implementing of these combined efforts can not be a periodical venture any longer.

The powers to be need to insert highly trained and aggresive enforcement teams to deal with this violence. It will ake years to clean up what we have allowed to fester.

We have an awesome place to live. We have turned the blind eye to this problem. Dan Daughtery of the Wicomico County State's Attorneys Office has for years predicted this very outcome. The schools, politicians, and some local monority leaders denounced the same. Well chicken little the sky is falling. It is time to take back "Our" streets. These domestic terrorist are are making life impossible for good children. They disrupt our educational setting. They hurt our economics. The bottom line is they have to go.

Screw community policing for now. Forget all the feel good words to avoid angering certain segments of society. It is time to wage our own war. If we run them to other counties oh well. Then they can run them elsewhere.

Wicomico County is the hub of the Eastern Shore we have obligation to ourselves and our children to clean this place up. We have enough parks Mr. Pollitt. Spend 350grand on the war on crime. Was Ted Shea not enough of a wake up call.

His shooter is still at large to date. Enough said.

    Have a Delmarvalous Day !!!

Thanks Joe for allowing me to vent.

  8. why is it when you ask questions of LE, you are labeled in a negative way? they are paid to do a job by the taxpayers they serve. is it too much to ask them to drive safely, observe speed limit laws, follow the laws they attempt to enforce on others, ask for the same convictions as a person off the street, to catch the dui people without invading on our civil rights to go to the grocery store without being stopped, or to be accountable if they kill someone? why do they think they deserve a double standard? shouldn't they have to abide by a higher standard? if they don't like their jobs or these questions, shouldn't they find a different one that is better suited for them? this won't get posted. only PRO police postings seem to get posted. But these are legitimate questions on fighting crime too. if this gets posted.....Matt, please help with these things too. Thanks!!!

I couldn't have said it better. This is exactly what I am thinking but you said it for me. Thank you for not forgetting the past either. I am not a big fan of Ted Shea, but he didn't deserve to be the victim of a violent crime as a result of our out of control city.

Jim Ireton do the right thing and consolidate the Salisbury Police Department with the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office. In case you have forgotten the City of Salisbury is in Wicomico County and we are paying double taxes. Consolidate the police departments, dissolve the city charter and then resign. Problems solved!

  12. 3:23 There are 95% or more on the force who know they do the right thing, for the right reasons, don't think they are above the law, and understand they SERVE and protect. And, they know the public wants transparency and accountability from the LE. Fairness is NOT an option if the system is to be trusted. If you want the community to trust the LE agencies, then start with being law abiding like those you wish to arrest. There are people like you who must go into the job and feel there should be no accountability and you can do whatever you darn well please. You don't work at McDonalds. You can't have it your way. And, I don't hate any of you, nor am I paranoid or a joke or loser. Do you hate the people you are supposed to serve? Are you paranoid when someone gives constructive criticism to make things better?

  14. The streets of Salisbury are very dangerous,And the judges are letting these drug pushers(YEA YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE) , right out on the street after serving very little time...There is a case right now , where a stupid drug dealer sold drugs to under cover cops ...spent 65 days in jail and is right back out on the streets, doing the same thing..selling to kids or who ever else has a few bucks...You know who you are you insane bald druggie..I hope they lock your non working lazy ,system stealing a-- up along with the nasty tramp that puts a roof over your head , so you can make your drug deals..There are innocent little kids in this so called household..Social services knows this also...Shame on them for allowing this..Open your eyes DSS.. You all are giving these people Food stamps that are being so for Drug money..Kids in there are doing without...The system is so screwed up....Thats why crime is up...If you social workers want these jobs DO YOUR JOB>>>>>You judges should do the same..I got a bigger fine for a traffic ticket than what some of these druggies get....And then there are the ones that violate probation and get off with nothing..Again you know who you are...A stupid probation officer and a pat on the back...No wonder theres crime....Well joe again thank you for allowing me to vent...I could go on an on but why bother...

  15. 7:31 Several local police & MD police just recently have been prosecuted and/or disciplined for either racial slurs (MSP Princess Anne), police abuse (read your paper), assault charges, spouse abuse, dui, etc. Even one discharged a loaded weapon in a public school. That is proof. Police begs people to speak up when investigating a crime and gets nothing, because no one trusts the agencies. That's proof. You don't have to be someone who was busted (I haven't been) or a cop hater (I'm not) to want an honest group of people behind the badges. Rather than make things better, people like you choose to attack, label and call people names. This is EXACTLY why the streets are so riddled with crime and dangerous. The LE approach right now is FAILING and crime is getting WORSE! It is time for a breath of fresh air and a new approach which hopefully will also leave people like you behind. This may not get posted but I do hope people like you get the message that you either have to care about the people you serve & listen to their feedback or you need to get a new job. People like you make it more dangerous for other cops. The REAL COP HATER hates people like you, this is true. And, those street thugs(who are the idiots) don't care if they shoot you. Don't make it more dangerous for the good cops who are just doing their jobs. You are the one who runs his mouth, causes a confrontation and then calls foul when someone resists arrest & makes it sound like they are 100% innocent. Your attitude places you at mortal risk every day you leave home. I will pray you don't get hurt before you either get a new attitude or new job. Matt has his work cut out for him if there are more of you.
