Louise Smith has in fact pulled the old Fire Station off tonight's agenda. Clearly this topic is hotter than anything this Council has faced to date. Every form of media have come together on this topic as Council VP Gary Comegys publicly stated he would not sell Joe Albero the building. This after a $250,000.00 cash offer was presented to the Council.
We strongly encourage as many citizens as possible to attend tonight's meeting to let the Council know where YOU stand on this project. One thing is for sure, the opposition will have their people there in support of it. 6:00 PM at the GOB.
This woman is out of control. She has long since forgotten who it is she is accountable to.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand how they can "legally" not sell the building to a "certain" person.
ReplyDeleteIt's not THEIR building - the building belongs to the taxpayers!
It's a firehouse and it needs to stay a firehouse!!
ReplyDeleteOk, what about the fireboat, the voters better take a stand on this, or it will cost far more in the long run then "losing" $100,000 on a building.
ReplyDeleteWe ALL are welcome to our opinions! It seams the only opinions who count are the groosom threesome.
ReplyDeleteThey DONT count these three work at the pleasure of the taxpayers and we dont want it sold to anyone! and if it were to be sold it should be sold to the highest bidder. It is NOT to be sold to whom ever they want at what ever price they want. People come out and speak today at the public opinion part of the meeting. If you are as tired of all this hoopla as I am come out and be heard. Monday (this evening at 6) at the government building.
Perhaps she is to be commended for stopping this scam, at least for the time being.
ReplyDeleteIf you read the conditions this boat is sold (given) to salisbury there is no way we can live up to the conditions. We are to take under control of property which is way out of our way. It would be too far away for us the fireboat to reach before the fire burned fixture to the ground.
ReplyDeleteYour dreams will turn into nighmares. We cant afford to pay our policemen and now we need a ton of money for upkeep of a firboat.??
Where will the boat be housed? Or will it sit to rot in the bad weather?
ReplyDeleteWhose pushing this fireboat purchase?
ReplyDeleteActually the perfect use for the building would be a museum and display for the fires that destroyed the city so long ago .... Do that and end the arguing of who is buying it... it should not be sold and should remain of some sort of building dedicated to fire dept use or as way to preserve salisburys firefighting history .... what is planned for it is a disgrace to those that served it and built it
ReplyDeleteLouise might of pulled it beacuse so many are p'oed about turning the old fire house into a bar?
ReplyDeleteOr maybe she just wants to give Palmer more time to get his story straight?
I would like to know as well. "Who is pushing the fire boat." "Who is pushing the fire station sale?"Who just got a brand new fire palace?" What do these three questions have in common? Don't forget to vote. Loudly.
ReplyDeleteShe probably pulled it because Gary won't be there tonight. Can't make a move without Gary Comegys.
ReplyDeleteHey 12:46, these numbnuts on this site don't want no stinkin taxes. What you are proposing while seemingly practicle, would not pass the tax and spend test.
ReplyDeleteDoes the boat have outriggers? Rockfish are running.
ReplyDeleteIf the fireboat is not housed or covered it won't take long for the seagulls have it looking like the dock at Brew River. It will need cleaning three times a day.

It begins with a "D" and I will give you 3 guesses and the first 2 don't count.

I agree. I should be a fire house/fire museum to be used for display and administrative offices for the fire department. Anything less would be criminal!
I agree with Cory.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it was pulled so they can pay Wilber to figure out if Gary put them in legal trouble with Joe.
Or hoping the attention dies down. Or they can do it closer to holidays when not so many people looking.
Good job to Debbie Campbell and Terry Cohen for thumbs down on fireboat, even if a Dunn deal (Comegys deal didn't sound right).
