Obama Approval Hits New Low

Washington (CNN) -- With little more than a month to go before the midterm elections, President Barack Obama's approval rating has hit an all-time low.

Only 42 percent of Americans now approve of how Obama's handling his job as president, according to a new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll. Fifty-four percent disapprove of his performance.

The figures represent a new low-water mark in the CNN/ORC poll for the president, who, almost two years into his term, continues to wrestle with public worries over a sluggish economy and exhaustion with the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

  5. These polls mean nothing. Sort of like saying a football team is gonna kick butt because it's 7-0 in the first quarter. If the jobs picture is looking good by the time Nov. of 2012 rolls around Obama will (and should) maintain his office.

  6. 12:15pm - perhaps because you have never been out of Salisbury or off of the Eastern Shore of Maryland. A large number of people around here appear to not approve of soap or the english language, but that does not mean that everyone in our country does not bathe.

  7. 12:15...38% of the 42% work either for MSNBC or the New York Times. And their numbers are dwindling as they lose their jobs....lol

  10. The only approval he will get is the inner city. Go to the rural counties and there will be very few. Funny how the welfare recipients are Democrats.

  11. You can fool some of the people some of the time, and some of the people ALL of the time, but you just can't fool all of the people all of the time...or the emperor has no clothes...

  12. It's not his fault. He inherited this mess from a bunch of losers in Congress. Oh, my bad; that's where he came from. Well, he was there 100 days or so before he decided to upgrade. It really amazes me how some cannot believe this guy is in so far over his head, because he's never even run a taco stand. 1/20/2013 will be here soon and then the bleeding hearts can blast away for 8 years at the next Republican president. Can't wait.

  14. I won't stand here and try to say Obama is so great. But what I can't believe is that after the last 3 election cycles, anyone actually thinks that either Reps. or Dems. know how to run things. Whenever you formulate policies to appease the extremes of your party instead of policies that are focused on objective analysis of the facts, you are bound to run us all further into the ground. The sad thing is that so many of you cheer Rep. on when they do this.

  18. Set records?? He could drop another 10 to 20 points and still not be as LOW as Bush was. Republicans will always hold the record for the least liked and least likely to succeed in anything. Just keep practicing saying "Obama" since you will be saying it a long time.
