  1. 0 arrests? what a great use of manpower, we got criminal enterprises and gangs galore, how many unsolved murders and this is what they are going after. to bad they don't ever saturate booth or church st. oh that's right they might get more then they bargained for over there!
easier to just pick off people on rt. 50.

  2. what a waste of money, would be better if they would pay o.t. to the aggressive police officers for dui patrol

  3. Total waste of money. They really don't want to catch dui's, if they did they would set up these road blocks after events like the clam bake in Crisfield or other events where they know folks are drinking and are going to drive when they leave. If the police need suggestions heres one for them. Next week is crab derby weekend in Crisfield. Set up your roadblock on 413 anytime over the weekend and you will get some dui's.

  4. This is an illegal activity. You cannot legally stop drivers and search them. There was no "cause" for the stopping.

Americans need to wake up to this type of martial law. This is the beginnings of what the German Government did to its people.

  6. 705 (!!) INNOCENT OF ANY CRIME (!!) citizens were stopped and detained by the government's ARMED agents to --- check to see IF they were guilty of any crimes!! Citizens who gave no indication that they were doing anything other than going about their business were searched and detained by police ("screened", as a police officer described it in an earlier post). THIS is the police version of "serving and protecting"? People are getting shot, robbed, beaten, raped, and invaded in their homes and where are these guys? Searching INNOCENT people LOOKING for POSSIBLE criminal activity. Find any? NOPE! They didn't a single crime. Is the whole police force made up of a bunch of Barney Fife's?? They could have put HALF that many police "saturating" Church St on a Friday night and got some REAL criminals. Those NAZI "checkpoints" have no place in a democracy and it was a DISGUSTING display of police power and arrogance and an undeniable and unjustified waste of taxpayer money. Honest citizens can't even walk in their neighborhoods without getting robbed or attacked and THIS is what we get from the police??? SHAME! SHAME!

  8. you do not have to legally stop at a check point, the police are informed this prior to the checkpoints, just keep your windows rolled up and keep driving

  10. Further, I want to ask-- what wannabe, but couldn't cut it in a military unit, comes up these names like "Operation Strikeforce"? Most of these wannbe commandos and tough guys are only 5'5" tall and most of 'em are the boys who got their aces whipped by the other kids in high school and now they dream of being some "operation strike force" member... LOL. Campaigns that are obviously NOT supported by the majority of citizens should not be named things that are reminscient of MILITARY operations. It's offensive. They are SUPPOSEDLY SERVING citizens, not assembling in attacking formations. ESPECIALLY when it's so Nazi-like in nature. What's next for these storm troopers? Calling the police stations things like "Fire Base Death Strike" & "Camp Bullet Storm"? Do they get patches for these campaigns like real soldiers get "combat patches"? Want to impress the citizens you serve? Bust some REAL crime out on Church St....shut down the prostitution and heroin dealers. Find some bank robbers and murderers. Beat someone up who ISN'T in handcuffs...have a nice day, boys...

  11. how about a thank you to the 700 some that did not drink and drive on the same road and at the same time that my husband drives home and thank you to the police for checking them out

  12. What does everyone on the shore do before they go out drinking? Call a cop buddy to find out where the check points are. Most bartenders in Salisbury have been tipped off ahead of time and will tell customers. Even better, the drunk off duty cop in the bar usaully offers that info then you see him drive away. So why wasnt anyone arrested?

  13. What is the percent of persons in this town on Hobbs Rd? Why not pick a road near a liqour store a major beach or quicky store where there is a major crime area and drinking/drug problem?

  14. So what happens when an "innocent drivers" who might just be your family members dies at the hands of drunk driver. You want to complain that police are not doing anything to stop the problem. If you dont break the law you dont have anything to worry about. You would be surprised how many people (those innocent drivers) actaully tell the officers at the checkpoint, "thank you for doing this. Its a good thing that you are doing.

  15. 5:09...I am tired of the 'What if one of your family members was killed by a drunk driver?" argument...thats is a shortsighted, stupid, and small minded retort. I have some up close an personal experience in EXACTLY what a drunk/impaired river can do to a family, so shut that crap up.. The issue is MUCH larger than that. It is a matter of the gradual degradation of our freedoms (including the right to be free from searches without cause). People like you are perfectly willing to let armed government agents do as they please because, as Adolf Hitler (you know about HIS country's history, I assume) said "in the final analysis, success is what matters." Yeah some impaired drivers get caught, but at what price of freedom? You people are gonna get marched to the ovens, too. It will just be too late to complain when its your turn.
