Delmarva Wins Eighth Straight Home Game
Salisbury, Md. – The Delmarva Shorebirds plated three runs in the first inning en route to a 6-2 win over the Lexington Legends in game two on Friday night. The ‘Birds have now won a season high five straight games and eight in a row at Perdue Stadium.
Levi Carolus blasted the Shorebirds into the lead in the bottom of the first inning. T.J. Baxter walked, Ty Kelly reached on an error and Brian Conley walked to set the table for Carolus, who blasted a bases clearing double to the left-center field wall to give the ‘Birds a 3-0 lead.
The Legends got on the board in the third inning. Jose Altuve reached on a Tyler Stampone error to open the frame. Then, Miguel Arrendell hit a double to get the Legends within two runs.
The Shorebirds expanded their lead in the sixth inning. The big hit in the frame was a Stampone two-run double to right field.
Jesse Beal earned the win for Delmarva in six strong innings. He allowed just five hits and an unearned run. Beal now leads the Shorebirds staff with five wins.
Pat Kantakevich and Kevin Landry turned aside the Legends in innings seven through nine. Kantakevich went two scoreless while Landry allowed an unearned run in the ninth inning.
Levi Carolus led the Shorebirds offensive attack with three hits. T.J. Baxter contributed two hits.
The Shorebirds play game three against the Legends on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. RHP Kenny Moreland makes the start for Delmarva.
