Ladies & Gentlemen, we are so sorry to confirm that Sam Vincent was in fact in a horrible car accident in Pittsville today and he has passed.
We were aware of his death from the beginning, (since we posted the accident article) but we had been asked to keep it quiet until we received word back from Law Enforcement that they had informed the Family of his passing.
So you know, we still have not received a return call or message but since the word is out elsewhere we thought we'd go ahead and confirm this to be true and accurate. I will not provide the details in this article.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Vincent Family during this tragic time. I removed today's survey question and rejected an additional 205 comments, most of them, (95%) in Sam's favor.
R.I.P. Sam. God Speed.
R.I.P. Sam. Heaven needed a states attourney
ReplyDeleteSam will be truly missed
ReplyDeleteThe Foxwell Family is very sadden by this sudden lose of Sam Vincent. Our prayers are with The Vincent Family.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for the loss.
ReplyDeleteCondolences to his friends and family and our community.
ReplyDeleteThis is an unspeakable tragedy for his family and for all of us who he so faithfully served.
ReplyDeleteIt is truly a sad ending to a life of such promise.
Condolences to his friends, family and co-workers. Joe any update on James Britt???
ReplyDeleteI wonder if DAVIS was driving??
ReplyDeleteJoe, thank you for thinking of the family and waiting before you posted the name. What I'm thinking about the DT isn't fit to appear here. At least when you did post it you weren't cold about the title of the post. Thanks again Joe.
ReplyDeleteRIP my friend, Sam, you'll be missed by all of us.
RIP Sam. My deepest condolences to his family & the community.
ReplyDeleteThis community has lost a great man of character and honor. So very sorry for his family and friends.
ReplyDeleteThoughts, prayers and condonlences to the Vincent family. This is such a tragedy.
ReplyDeleteOne of the most honorable men I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He will be missed by all of us who knew him well. RIP, Sam.
ReplyDeleteJonathan, Please, for the love of God, spew your hatred somewhere else. This is NOT the time or place to send in so many hateful comments about who was first. I'm asking you very politely, please stop sending in messages to Salisbury News.
ReplyDeleteMy Gosh, doesnt that sit you back in your seat. So sorry for his family, every second is truely a gift. All the bickering we all do, were wasting seconds.
ReplyDeleteWe have truley lost a great prosecuter and good friend. He will be missed and we are not as safe as we were when we woke up this morning.
ReplyDelete5:54 You have stated that Beautifully. He was just that and more. Salisbury has lost a true gentleman!!
ReplyDeleteJoe, Thank you for taking the survey off----it was the right thing to do at a time like this. Edna Walls
I work for the State's Attorney's Office and I can personally attest to the fact we have lost not only the state's hardest working (deputy) state's attorney, but a true patriot, a true "public servant", a true Christian, a true gentleman, a true citizen. Sam, you were my friend - my dear friend - and you will be missed. I thought I had no more tears left but I do and they are for you my friend. I WILL see you again. I WILL. When we are in heaven, God will have no better prosecutor for the O.J. Simpsons, the Earl Bradleys, and the Thomas Legg's of the world than Sam. Vaya con Dios, my friend. See you on the other side. I hope you bring some of your church's oyster fritters with you. I am so fortunate and lucky to have know you. I don't need to sign my name, you know who I am.
ReplyDeleteMy deepest thoughts and prayers are with Sam and his family, as well as Mr. Britt and his family, who I pray comes through.
ReplyDeleteJoe, you have handled this honorably and with compassion for the families. Sickos cannot handle it when you do the right thing, after complaining how you don't do the right thing. And to do it at a time like this, there are no words for such people except sick, sick, sick.
Sam, God bless and hold you.
I agree with Joe....JR's comment is inconsiderate and poorly timed no matter what the circumstances. I think it needs to be removed from the blog.
ReplyDeleteRIP Sam. Did not know him that well, but I've heard nothing but good things from a well loved and respected man.
(As one of the first people at the scene as a first responder, the way I saw him today is not how he will be remembered)
Sam and Carl (his twin brother) were school mates at Carruthers Elementary. They were always kind and Sam still had that reputation -probably Carl too, but I lost track of him. I ran into Sam from time-to-time - always a humble smile and a kind word. My condolences and prayers go out to his family and close friends at this most tragic time. I don't know if Sam has children or a favorite charity. I would like to find out. Even though we are not close friends, I would like to do something to honor his memory and his service to the community. I am so deeply saddened for his loved ones.
ReplyDeleteI had the pleasure of knowing Sam as a young boy, playing basketball with him and seeing him become a wonderful man. It is sad that he is gone. My thoughts and prayers go out to all who loved and knew him. More than what he did, he was the person people cared for over 50 years. See you again, brother.
ReplyDeleteI have worked with Sam Vincent for over 24 years and can say that he was the best prosecutor I ever had the privilege to work with. Sam cared, and that meant the world to us. Sam was always there when you needed him and never told you he didn’t have the time to answer any questions you may have had. If Sam knew that something meant a lot to you he would go out of his way to help. I have also seen Sam sad over the outcome of a trial when he felt that justice had not been served. Sam Vincent was just a “Great Person.” who cared about others feelings , often forgetting about his own. I know that if God was to give Sam a second chance at the expense of the others involved Sam would not change a thing because that was Sam. My condolences go out to a Sam’s family and all that are grieving his loss. God’s speed Sam, we all loved you and respected you. Thanks for being my friend
ReplyDeleteLike a previous poster, I was a classmate of Sam and his brother @ Campus Elementary in the 1960s. I am devastated to hear of this news. Back in that day (we were elementary school chums from kindergarten through 4th grade), I considered Sam and Carl very good friends. While I have not had contact with either brother in decades, I have followed Sam's career with pride and sort of assumed the naive idea that at some point I'd be able to shake his hand and say, 'well done, good friend'. Now that opportunity is lost forever with the passing of a very good public servant. May Sam Rest in Peace. My very sincere condolences go out to his family and also to one I admire equally, his twin brother, Carl.
ReplyDeleteIt's been said that God only takes the very best at an early age. Here's proof. Godspeed, dear Sam. RIP.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for his family. I wish that they are in good condition and wish that they can still go on. My deepest prayer for their family.
ReplyDeleteYOU are a two faced SCUMBAG.
ReplyDeleteSalisbury/Wicomico County has lost a true gentleman and man of honor. I met Sam over 20 years ago and saw only a man of integrity and both feet on the ground. He was always more concerned about others than himself and was a Fine Man to go out of his way to make sure he had the correct answer to any question presented to him.
ReplyDeleteLast year Salisbury lost a great pediatirian. Today we have relived the same shock and sadness to another great man to all who knew or crossed paths with Sam! He will be missed by so many people of this community that he served.
Sampson Vincent was truly a scholar and a gentleman. One of the finest persons and prosecutors I have ever had the pleasure of knowing...a consummate gentleman. I know he looks down from heaven upon us now and wishes only the best for Wicomico County.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for removing the survey and comments....some can just be ignorant and cruel.
ReplyDeleteSam is my cousin and I know I can speak for the rest of the family in that we appreciate all the kind comments people have made on this blog about him. He was truly one of a kind and he was a friend to all who knew him. When we arrived at the hospital today, it was very evident to see how loved and respected he was among his coworkers that were gathered there. God has and will be with us all in this difficult time. Please especially remember Sam's wife, mother, and twin brother in prayer. Sam is in a better place and we look forward to seeing him someday in Heaven.
ReplyDeleteWow Joe. Drag a guy through the mud one day and then suddenly changed your tune the next because it's good news. No wonder Salisbury hates you.
ReplyDeleteIs it possible to just stop the bs and simply remember an incredible person for just one day-i cannot stand the bickering...
ReplyDeleteSalisbury does NOT hate Joe!
ReplyDeleteMr. Albero, I think you've handled this in a most compassionate way and should be commended for doing so. Nothing else matters at a time like this, so please remove any and all disparaging comments on this matter. I will never understand why some small minded folks can't see that, while one may disagree with someone's politics, opinions, or whatever else, one can still respect and even like that person!
ReplyDeleteMy condolences to the Vincent family, friends and co-workers. I am deeply sorry for this tragic loss and wish you the strength to carry on as he would surely wish.
JR 5:33 I would like to punch you right in the face for your comment
