Autistic Child Walks Away From Home- Located By Local Fire Department

Location: An unspecified address in the Tall Pines Mobile Home Park, Lewes, Delaware

Date of Occurrence: Wednesday, May 12th, 2010, at 7:30 p.m.

Resume: At approximately 7:30 p.m. last evening, State Police dispatch received a call from a mother residing in the Tall Pines Mobile Home Park who advised her 9-year-old autistic son had just walked away from home and she was unable to locate him.

Troopers, who also requested the assistance of emergency personnel, converged on the scene and began to canvas the area.

The boy was located by members of the Lewes Fire Department as he was walking along Hickory Road.

The child was transported to Beebe Medical Center for a medical evaluation and eventually turned back over to mom. He was unharmed.
