Delaware State Troopers Arrest Suspects In Robbery
Location of Incident: Loblolly Dr, near Concord Pond, east of Seaford, Sussex County, DE
Date and Time of Occurrence: Friday June 19, 2009 on or about 9:10 pm
Defendant (s): Dalesandro T. Dickerson, 18, 11613 Kimes Cir Seaford, DE
17 year-old male from Seaford, DE
State Police Detectives have arrested two suspects in connection with a robbery to a pizza delivery driver.
State Police arrested Dickerson and his 17 year-old accomplice yesterday after troopers found evidence at the scene that connected Dickerson to the crime. The two were arrested yesterday.
On Friday night, June 19th at 2110 hrs, the 30 year-old male victim was delivering pizza for Hungry Howie's Pizza in Seaford and was sent to Loblolly Dr near Concord Pond to deliver pizza, soda and an order of chicken wings.
When the victim arrived in the Lakewood Development, the two defendants were waiting in the street on Loblolly Dr. They stopped the driver. The driver got out and attempted to exchange the food for money, when he was beaten about the head by the Dickerson and his accomplice. The victim suffered laceration to head, left ear and neck from a box cutter razor blade that was used by the defendants. The food was stolen along with cash that the victim had in his possession. Victim was treated and released at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital.
Both were arrested for Robbery 1st, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, Assault 2nd, and Conspiracy 2nd. Both suspects were arraigned via video at Court 2 and bail was set at $71,000 for the pair.
Dickerson was committed to SCI and the juvenile was taken to the Stevenson House.
HAZMAT EMERGENCY
UPDATE: I went to the scene but they wouldn't allow anyone access to get a closer look. Fire trucks were rolling in one after the other and even after I left the scene at 7:00 PM you can see in my last photo, another Fire Truck was on its way to the scene.
We're told Fire Trucks were the over kill once again. I couldn't see in deep enough to tell but I'll take the word of some professional Firefighters that this was in fact the case.
Urgent! Cap and Trade Bill!
Please Contact Congressman Kratovil today and tell him to OPPOSE Cap and Trade ‘Tax’ Increase Bill, H.R. 2454.
An expensive new “tax” bill will be considered on the floor of the House as early as this Friday, June 26. This bill is known as the “American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009,” H.R. 2454, also known as the Waxman-Markey climate change bill.
Most Americans know this bill as a “cap-and-trade” bill for the purpose of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and global warming by creating a system of pollution permits that energy companies must buy before releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
There are several very important reasons for Americans to oppose this bill:Contact Kratovil's office at:(202) 225-5311

Correctional Officer Charged With Rape
Location of Incident: Women’s Work Release Treatment Center, 620 Baylor Blvd. New Castle, DE
Date of Occurrence: April 11, 2009
Suspect(s): Roger L. Thompkins, 46 of New Castle, Delaware (photo attached)
Resume:
This morning, Troop 2 Detectives arrested Roger L. Thompkins, a former Department of Correction employee, with Rape 2nd degree, Unlawful sexual contact 3rd degree, Sexual relations in detention facility, Official misconduct with unauthorized exercise of official functions, and Acts constituting coercion.
In this case, the 24 year-old victim is an offender at the Women's Work Release Treatment Center located at 620 Baylor Blvd in New Castle. She alleges that on April 11 Roger L. Thompkins, a correctional officer, had her respond to the laundry room located in the treatment center. The suspect was aware that the victim was coming up on a disciplinary hearing, and he advised her that he sometimes sits in on the hearings. He claimed that if she did not have intercourse with him, he would ensure that she got sent back to the Baylor Women's Correctional Institute. The suspect proceeded to have sexual intercourse with the victim in the laundry room. The incident occurred at approximately 1:20pm.
When Thompkins finished his shift and left the center, the victim informed a supervisor of the incident. Security video captured the suspect and victim entering and exiting the hallway to the laundry room. DNA evidence was collected and is pending analysis.
The suspect turned himself in this morning for processing and arraignment. He was released after posting a $34,000.00 secured bail.
Questions regarding Thompkins’ employment status can be directed to Mr. John Painter of the Department of Correction Public Information Office at (302) 857-5232. All other inquiries regarding the investigation and arrest should be directed to the Delaware State Police.

Hey Chiefy, How's That Investigation Going On The Gunman That Shot Ted Shea?
Thank God this didn't turn out to be another Cold Case but we have the murder of the Gas Station Owner two nights ago and a Prostitute not that long ago that has yet to be solved either.
So if you're a criminal or a murderer, Salisbury seems to be the Old West Shooting Gallery of the United States and the chances of you getting caught seem to be slim to none.
Folks, if you know ANYTHING about the shooting the other night, please use our link to Crime Solvers and let them know what you know. There are REWARDS for doing so and you can remain completely anonymous.
The murder of Anitra Pyrkle in the county was SOLVED within 24 hours because of a Crime Solvers Tip, something the SPD rarely uses to announce on their Press Releases.
Yes Mr. Ireton, Salisbury is not only a scary place to work, live, visit, shop and or even pass through, the chances of getting the criminals are slim to none and if that isn't cause, I don't know what else to tell you.
Protect yourselves Folks!
KUHN'S JEWELERS ON THE DOWNTOWN PLAZA
My Wife bought me a nice watch for my Birthday a few months ago from Sam's Club and when I opened it up and tried it on it was entirely too large around my wrist. So I brought it back to Sam's and asked them if they could remove some of the links and they said, we don't do that here, you'll have to bring it to a Jewelery Store.
Well, that kind of sucked, since we didn't buy it at a jewelers, (if you get my drift). Nevertheless, I was Downtown quite a bit this week and I thought I'd bring it to Kuhn's on the Downtown Plaza. They were extremely receptive and offered to take the links out on the spot. They had it fixed in minutes and when I asked them how much I owed them they refused to charge me anything, my favorite price!
For that, KUHN'S JEWELERS will forever get my business from this point forward. If you haven't visited their store they have an unbelievable selection of jewelery, (as you can see in the photo) and have been in Salisbury forever! My Wife's Birthday is this Friday and I will be back!
Facts You Did NOT Know About Crime In Maryland
I asked my close friend Mark McIver to provide me with some crime statistics last night and he responded with some information that was simply overwhelming! Did you know that the State of Maryland is ranked #3 in the entire Country for murders!
The violent crime rate is through the roof and Salisbury, Maryland being the 9th most dangerous city in all of America, (per capita) doesn't help matters any.
Perhaps Mayor Ireton needs to see these FACTS in order to realize, WE'RE NOT SAFE here in Salisbury! Clearly Chief Webster doesn't care. I encourage you to go to THIS LINK on Crime Solvers and see all the Cold Cases for murders right here in Salisbury that have gone unsolved.
The Salisbury Police Department, (before Chief Webster came on board) was respected as, (believe it or not) the most state of the art Police Department in America. There was a day, not that long ago, when the SPD would reach out to hire Officers and there were easily 250 applicants! Now they are begging to get anyone on board and with the loss of 8 Police Officers, they only have 2 in the Academy right now as hopeful replacements.
I want you to see the statistics for the State of Maryland below and recognize just how serious the murder rate is in our State. Remember, Salisbury is the 9th Most Dangerous "City" in America per capita. Chief Webster doesn't seem to understand NUMBERS but Salisbury News provides the facts. Granted, he may not like facing the tens of thousands of people that visit Salisbury News every day but the facts are the facts and we will not allow him to deny the facts any longer.
Here are some interesting statistics for your readers from the 2007 Uniform Crime Reports.
The average murder rate in the United States for 2007 was 5.7 murders per 100,000 population.
The top ten states plus Washington DC are:
State Murder Rate
1. Washington DC 30.8
2. Louisiana 14.2
3. Maryland 9.8
4. Alabama 8.9
5. New Mexico 8.2
6. South Carolina 8.0
7. Nevada 7.5
8. Georgia 7.5
9. Arkansas 7.4
10. Mississippi 7.1

Mark McIver
Should He Stay Or Should He Go?
With crime recently taking a major spike upwards, (not that it hasn't been bad enough being the 9th Most Dangerous City in America for violent crime) and a very violent murder less than two days ago, Chief Webster has become a major topic in the City of Salisbury. I wouldn't be fair if I didn't mention Mayor Ireton's role in being accountable for allowing Webster to continue but here's the deal.
Do you believe Chief Webster should stay on as Chief of Police or do you believe Mayor Ireton should terminate him immediately and find a new Chief of Police for Salisbury?
Salisbury News Featured On Consumer Reports "Consumerist"
I had received an e-mail the other day from the Senior Editor of Consumerist, a direct Blog for Consumer Reports. They have been following Salisbury News and saw the article we had up on Saturday about the candy in the pill bottles at Sam's Club.
If you go to Consumer Reports Consumerist you can see their article on our Post that went up this morning.
Yeah, what do you think the hits will be like today over yesterday! Oh, by the way Blognetnews, THAT'S INFLUENTIAL!
Daily Times Realizes That Crime In Salisbury Is Not "Down"
More On WalMart
Joe,
Recently was my mother's birthday. She indicated she wanted a pool. I went to Wal-Mart thinking that would be the cheapest place to purchase the pool. After I loaded this pool onto a flat cart that I found laying around the store I took it to get rung up, it was $263.00. I never thought anything of it, I thought what a good deal. A couple of days later I went online to walmart.com just to browse. I stumpled upon the exact pool I purchased for $199.00. I immediatly called the store manager and she said bring the print out and the reciept. I then went to the store within 15 minutes, after waiting 30 minutes for the manager I talked to on phone she said that she did research on the pool. She said it was different. I explained to her that pool was indeed the same. The "Documents Manager" then oveheard what was going on, she said that it was the same pool. Eventually I was refunded the difference.
I have learned that most if not all items are cheaper on walmart.com than what is listed in the store. If you order an item online and ship it to the store it is free. Would be kind enough to advise your readers that if they are looking to purchase anything over $100.00 from a Wal-Mart store that it would be A LOT cheaper to order it online and have it shipped to the store for free.
You Have To Love The Irish
Miraculously, a parking place appeared.
Paddy looked up again and said, 'Never mind, I found one.'
Father Murphy walks into a pub in Donegal, and asks the first man he meets, 'Do you want to go to heaven?'
The man said, 'I do, Father.'
The priest said, 'Then stand over there against the wall.'
Then the priest asked the second man, 'Do you want to go to heaven?'
'Certainly, Father,' the man replied..
'Then stand over there against the wall,' said the priest.
Then Father Murphy walked up to O'Toole and asked, 'Do you want to go to heaven?'
O'Toole said, 'No, I don't Father.'
The priest said, 'I don't believe this. You mean to tell me that when you die you don't want to go to heaven?'
O'Toole said, 'Oh, when I die , yes. I thought you were getting a group together to go right now.'
Paddy was in New York .
He was patiently waiting and watching the traffic cop on a busy street crossing. The cop stopped the flow of traffic and shouted, 'Okay, pedestrians.' Then he'd allow the traffic to pass.
He'd done this several times, and Paddy still stood on the sidewalk.
After the cop had shouted, 'Pedestrians!' for the tenth time, Paddy went over to him and said, 'Is it not about time ye let the Catholics across?'
Gallagher opened the morning newspaper and was dumbfounded to read in the obituary column that he had died. He quickly phoned his best friend, Finney.
'Did you see the paper?' asked Gallagher. 'They say I died!!'
'Yes, I saw it!' replied Finney. 'Where are ye callin' from?'
An Irish priest is driving down to New York and gets stopped for speeding in Connecticut . The state trooper smells alcohol on the priest's breath and then sees an empty wine bottle on the floor of the car..
He says, 'Sir, have you been drinking?'
'Just water,' says the priest.
The trooper says, 'Then why do I smell wine?'
The priest looks at the bottle and says, 'Good Lord! He's done it again!'
Walking into the bar, Mike said to Charlie the bartender, 'Pour me a stiff one - just had another fight with the little woman.'
'Oh yeah?' said Charlie, 'And how did this one end?'
'When it was over,' Mike replied, 'She came to me on her hands and knees.'
'Really,' said Charles, 'Now that's a switch! What did she say?'
She said, 'Come out from under the bed, you little chicken.'
Patton staggered home very late after another evening with his drinking buddy, Paddy. He took off his shoes to avoid waking his wife, Kathleen.
He tiptoed as quietly as he could toward the stairs leading to their upstairs bedroom, but misjudged the bottom step. As he caught himself by grabbing the banister, his body swung around and he landed heavily on his rump. A whiskey bottle in each back pocket broke and made the landing especially painful.
Managing not to yell, Patton sprung up, pulled down his pants, and looked in the hall mirror to see that his butt cheeks were cut and bleeding. He managed to quietly find a full box of Band-Aids and began putting a Band-Aid as best he could on each place he saw blood.
He then hid the now almost empty Band-Aid box and shuffled and stumbled his way to bed.
In the morning, Patton woke up with searing pain in both his head and butt and Kathleen staring at him from across the room.
She said, 'You were drunk again last night weren't you?'
Patton said, 'Why you say such a mean thing?'
'Well,' Kathleen said, 'it could be the open front door, it could be the broken glass at the bottom of the stairs, it could be the drops of blood trailing through the house, it could be your bloodshot eyes, but mostly ..... it's all those Band-Aids stuck on the hall mirror.
FOR THE RECORD
Yesterday I went into the GOB and had a meeting with a Mr. Jim Laws, Chief Building Inspector for the Department of Public Works for Wicomico County. We had received information that Mr. Robinson was flat out denying the information I posted about his new place of business, not getting permits and putting up new fencing that blocked the Fire Lane.
Well Mr. Robinson, deny me all you want but let me assure you of a couple of things. First of all, Mr. Laws clearly stated that you NEVER ONCE filed for a permit to improve the new space, so you broke the law there and we have at least two witnesses that will testify that you did in fact remodel that location, including tearing down walls and so forth. This is why you placed paper on the windows so no one could see in.
So you didn't file for ANY permits, yet Sperry Vann Ness, (or however you spell their corporate name) absolutely knew you were remodeling this space and closed their eyes to any visible permits by law that are expected to be exposed and allowed this illegal work to continue. Goes to show you their credibility! While I had considered hiring a management company to work with me on my buildings I'll NEVER consider them at this point because they'll allow crappy tenants to do whatever they like with my property, even if it breaks the law.
As for the fencing, Public Works did in fact find that you extended the existing fencing, (even though you denied it) so much so that you made it impossible for the Fire Department to access the rear of the building. They did in FACT see the old post holes to where the old fencing existed but you were SNAGGED and told to TAKE IT DOWN!
While Robinson continues to go after the Sheriff's Department with his paranoia thinking everyone is out to get him, your own neighbors did what Sperry Vann Ness should have done and made sure what you were doing was in fact legal. Your paranoia and blaming other people, (like me) for your bad luck recently is your own fault Mr. Robinson. We have laws for a reason. You want things NOW and people like you are what cause massive destruction.
So for the record, Mr. Robinson lied about this situation and tried to state he had done everything on the up and up. I do NOT believe Mr. Laws is a liar, I believe Mr. Robinson is. Hence the fence is down and Robinson is pissed. Karma is a bitch Johnnie. Get used to it.
Gary Comegys & Shanie Shields Refuse To Answer My Question, "Do You Denounce The Blogs?"
I, nor the entire City Council agreed that this was not something Lore' Chambers should answer representing the Council but I found myself months later standing in front of the Council asking why they have not answered my question.
Last Monday night I did get a response from Debbie Campbell and Terry Cohen but I came to learn a week earlier in a work session that my question came up as a topic of conversation and Gary Comegys and Shanie Shields stated they were not going to answer my question. This is important Folks because these are the people who have been feeding another Blog inside information from the GOB. They are tied to his Blog and IF they were to state they denounced the Blogs, we could then prove they were liars.
I want to remind everyone that when Gary Comegys was in a WMDT Forum he clearly stated that he denounced the Blogs and encouraged everyone to stay away from them. That's funny, whenever they want to send out the nastiest lies about Debbie Campbell or Terry Cohen, now they simply go to another Blog and feed them information and it gets published without any liability or accountability.
Debbie Campbell & Terry Cohen sent me answers that quite frankly would take up too much space here to Post but in short they both concur, to denounce the Blogs would be to denounce FREE SPEECH. They support the Blogs but feel everyone should be more responsible with the content and I agree. However, there are some that will spread lies and rumor simply because they have an agenda to cover up their own wrong doings.
Shanie Shields stated that Joe Albero is crazy. She went on to say she's going to pray for me. That's funny Shanie. You see, I stood in front of a Judge against Barrie Tilghman and not once did the Judge say I was crazy. In fact, I won the case against Barrie Tilghman and in the end the ONLY one that looked crazy was the woman suing me. Words like that are the kind of words that come from sore losers.
Louise Smith did recently send me the following message.......
Joe:
During Public Comments, you asked Council members to respond to your question,"Do Council members denounce blogs?" At the June 15th work session, I asked each Council member to respond. Mrs. Campbell said she would send a response to you with a copy to Council. Mrs. Cohen related she would do the same. Mrs. Campbell has already sent her response which you should soon be receiving. Mr. Comegys and Mrs. Shields indicated they would not respond. I am not a participant or contributor so I have very limited knowledge. I am sure there are good blogs and bad blogs. My thoughts are blogs are open to anyone who can establish and maintain a Web site. And, it is my thinking that blogs have probably changed the landscape of journalism. Since I do not know if there are standards for blogging, perhaps extended questions may be in credibility and accountability.
I trust this answers your question.
Louise Smith
Salisbury City Council President
I'm not sure if she answered my question and I didn't think it was a difficult question. However, I respect the fact that she did take the time to state her opinion.
Salisbury News is becoming more powerful by the day. I have been approached by BOTH local Television Stations in reference to a partnership in some sort of way but nothing has crossed the table in which "I" would have enough interest to move forward. I can assure you, no other local Blog has been asked to partner up with the MSM and I personally think this speaks volume as to the credibility of Joe Albero and Salisbury News.
What was once a thorn in their tails has now become the highest rated source for local news and information, even over the MSM. You can deny it all you like, I personally don't care. I see the numbers daily and while some may try to deny it, show me someone locally with a computer that doesn't go to Salisbury News and I can assure you it's a 10 to 1 ratio. Meaning, ten people visit while one does not.
The Internet is a market in which America has become more dependent on than print or television. If you're going to run a respectable Blog in the hopes that one day it will become a valuable asset either in advertising and or a possible sale to the MSM, you have to have a Blog that is well received and respected for its content and resources. You're NOT going to find one other Blog on the entire Eastern Shore that has the right combination other than Salisbury News. We have the daily hits. We have the sources. We have the real time news and information and we deliver it 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Gary and Shanie do denounce the Blogs because we tell the truth and they are so afraid of the truth it isn't funny. Gary, Barrie, Shanie and Mike Dunn are very black and white people. You either see it their way or you are the enemy. I commend Louise Smith recently for announcing she does not see things that way and agrees that it is my right to disagree. However, we agree to disagree and in the end we are not enemies simply because we disagree.
I almost fell off my chair in laughter last Monday night when Gary Comegys was giving financial advice on the Fire Department, yet he's filed Bankruptcy because he couldn't keep his own finances in order. Let me finish with this Folks. The Gas Station that Gary and his Wife used to own, is it closed for good, or has someone else taken it over and it's now succeeding? Do you get my point? The ONLY reason it didn't succeed while Gary owned it was because he's an Idiot when it comes to business and finances. Someone else steps in and takes over the very same business and they survive. GO FIGURE!
Now I'll not act like Gary & Shanie and denounce them, I have too much fun with them on a daily basis. I will however denounce the other Blogs that do in fact lie and say whatever their warped minds like to express but I will also ignore them for good. They are of no value, nor will they ever be. They will never be respected by the MSM and or the citizens. Oh, for those who believe in beating up and exposing 8 year old children, well, if you like participating in that sort of thing, go for it. We now know who you are. Gary and Shanie won't denounce them because they are a part of them. They enjoy it when they beat up on our 8 year old Grandson and think they're getting back at me. If they weren't a part of that other nasty Blog, they would have simply stated they do in fact denounce the Blogs. However, now that they are participating with them and are on record for denouncing the Blogs, their silence is deafening.
DART's Going GREEN With New Electric Hybrid Buses
The hybrid electric technology on DART buses consists of a highly efficient diesel engine, running on super low-sulphur fuel, in combination with an Allison electric drive transmission system.
The bus operates in its electric mode at speeds up to 25 mph. The diesel engine will then provide power solely or in combination with the electric motor as needed. Unlike gas engine hybrids, the diesel motor keeps running when the bus is operating on electric power. The reason is that diesels can sometimes be more difficult to start quickly. When not in demand the diesel operates at low idle and continues to generate electricity.
It is estimated that hybrid buses can increase fuel economy by as much as 60%, reduce particulates, hydrocarbon and carbon emissions by up to 90%, as well as releasing 60% fewer oxides of nitrogen than older diesel vehicles.
Surprisingly hybrid-electric technology provides 50% better acceleration when starting from a stop or lower speed, because electric motors deliver more torque than internal combustion engines.
Due to the smaller diesel motor and the use of an electric motor, hybrid buses are quieter than standard transit vehicles. The additional weight of the battery pack and additional cooling unit also provides better ride quality.
DART First State is the bus, train, and intermodal transportation provider for Delaware.
