BREAKING NEWS! Shooting In Salisbury
There was just a shooting at the Shell Gas Station by the old McDonald's on Rt. 13 North.
A male was shot three times in the chest and is unresponsive.
This Post went up originally at 11:31 PM last night.
Update: It has been reported both robbers had guns and, when the male individual behind the counter raised his hands, he was shot. A struggle ensued and the clerk was killed from multiple gunshots. The two Number 1 suspects, wearing hooded shirts that partially covered their faces fled.
Update 2: The victim's name is Abdul Choudrey, 49 years of age. He lived in Salisbury.
Update 3: I have been informed the SPD does have their hands on the video of the shooting but the clarity of the tape is horrible. They can't even tell how things went down at this point. I was also told he was shot once in the stomach and twice in the head.

Cathy's Pet Salon & Doggie Day Care Holds Grand Opening Today
After 29 years of serving Wicomico County, Cathy Williams celebrated the Grand Opening of their brand new Pet Salon. The difference, she owns the building and it has been designed specifically for grooming and day care. I can tell you one thing, we ran an article about them a few weeks ago and I couldn't believe the amount of people I've run into that instantly started taking their pets up there for Doggie Day Care.
Pretty much everyone brings their pets to Cathy's Pet Salon for grooming, that's a given. It was great to see so many people from the Chamber of Commerce, City & County Council as well as quite a few people from the Salisbury Kennel Club.
We wish Cathy the very best in their new location and we thank them for keeping their business in Salisbury. This is one great step for the economic & development of our community.

Hebron Attorney Fined $10,000.00 By Federal Judge

Anthony G. Gorski must pay the fine to Dashco Inc., a Virginia-based lender whose attorney sought the rare and severe punishment in Rhoda L. Van Leer’s case, Judge J. Frederick Motz ruled in U.S. District Court.
After U.S. Bankruptcy Judge James F. Schneider ruled in May 2008 that the waterfront home in which Van Leer and her husband, Blake, lived was not part of her bankruptcy estate, Gorski appealed to the U.S. District Court.
But he failed to file a brief with that appeal and it was dismissed. He appealed the dismissal, but also failed to file a brief with the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Finally, when Dashco moved for Rule 11 sanctions, he didn’t respond to that.

City Park Issues
I don't know if you walk around the trail that connects the Park, Zoo, and Shoemaker Pond or not. It was the best made trail and cost taxpayers more than a million buck 10 years ago. During the improvements to the water plant at the park, heavy dump trucks etc were allowed by the old mare to drive on the section between the zoo and
bridge. Look today at the huge ruts filled with water to breed mosquitoes.
The stones used originally were quite fine and it made for a cushioned base that enabled an old guy like myself to get some exercise by walking around some beautiful area. The rocks that were the driveway to the water plant over the time of construction have spread all over from the tennis courts to the fountain. I have twisted my ankle twice due to these rocks. In some areas, a thin layer of mud covers the path and is slicker than slick. I have to walk off the path to avoid a fall.
The old mare promised that the path will be put back in it's original condition as it was a clause in the contract. Seems either she lied or someone never followed thru. I noticed they spent a bundle putting new blacktop down on the water plant driveway so they don't deal with the large stones and left the park pathway in it's
unsafe shape.
Thanks in advance.

It's No Wonder PRMC Blocks Salisbury News
Joe,
Just a note to let you and your readers know about the clowns working at PRMC. My 18 year old son was jumped last Tuesday night and had to drive himself to the hospital with a broken jaw. When he arrived he had them call me and I drove over to the hospital. Throughout the night we had several different nurses until he was transported by ambulance up to Shock Trauma in Baltimore. The last nurse that we had however was a male nurse. When he was asked to please give my son more pain medicine in his IV, he left and we expected a quick return! After 10 minutes passed I stepped into the hallway to see where the nurse was...only to find him playing hackey sack with another male nurse. After he saw me...he quickly got the pain medicine and administered it to my son. About a 1/2 hour after that incident I noticed he was at the nurses station running a toy monster truck up and down the counter! Thank God my son was transferred to University of Maryland! What losers!

A Somerset County Comment Worthy Of A Post
I have read these blogs. You can tell the ones that have honest concerns and those that...well you good citizens know the idea. Yes, there are things that are unsettling regarding certain people but the point isn't to bad mouth or put down. The point is to make things fair and just. As far as the 2 story house goes. I don't know about that. But I have heard from several others as well as my own experience with permits being written after the fact. I think we need to look at the idea that sometimes people do things and then when brought to attention, well, then permits are granted. It is one thing is you made an honest mistake. It is a whole different story when the same thing occurs over and over. Not sure if that is legal but does seem to have some ethic issues. As far as down sizing p&Z. I don't know about that but I do have first hand experience with at least one person there that has difficulty when questioned or things are being requested of her.
As far as Mr. Willing. He is a nice guy and he may be pushed by others but I thought the State has rules governing over what can and can not be done. P&Z just needs to take that more seriously. I was told to take it to court. I did. But p&z held a meeting for the opposing party. I could not get that out side of court. How did the opposing party? and a letter was written by p&z which was not totally correct which was not signed but circulated.
To "I See U"
I would love to hear more of your experiences. I only know what I have endured and am not a contractor so I don't know the ins and outs. In talking with people, I have come across many that have had similar concerns. To :blutojthetotmom", I agree. It shouldn't matter how much you do or do not have. The rules should be the same for all. To Brian Fortune. Thanks for bringing this to light in a sincere and honest thought. I hope you stay in the county for awhile, we need more citizens like you. Good Citizen involvement. Yes, that is what is needed. I can only hope that as many good citizens as possible can attend the vote today. It seems like a hopeless and helpless cause at this point given the limited time but you have to start somewhere. Variance hearings need to stay from behind closed doors and in the public eye. I have been following the variance hearings as best as possible looking for the one that pertains to my area. It is not an easy task. I agree that politics have the potential for being corrupt. But they also have the potential to be just and in the publics best interest. And to the person that wrote..My My. Good attempt in trying to change the subject and even a better attempt of being defensive and rude to others trying to make a positive difference. I only wish I did have more time to spend on trying to make a difference with all the issues in Somerset County. But the issue today is the vote on whether variances should go in house or remain monitored by an outside body. I vote they stay out of house and in the public eye and more obtainable to public access. I just hope the that some of the people opposed to the in house rule show up. I am sure that the ones for it will.
Thanks Joe for giving me this forum.

A Letter To The Editor
I read your blog post about the Town of Hebron passing an unbalanced budget. Unbelievable. With two attorneys sitting there. Unbelievable! What do taxpayers pay these guys for, window dressing?
I read this right after watching the Salisbury city council. Same thing. Paul Wilber stands there with a "housekeeping" law on plumbing and Terry Cohen catches a correction on something they've gone over many times before. Wilber agrees with her and says they'll fix it for next reading, but Cohen says she's got to make a motion to amend it. Wilber was just going to get some white out and call it a day?
Man, at that point, I just wanted to cry. XXXXX and I are barely making ends meet, I bust my butt all day, and this suit can't take care of some limp change to plumbing code. This was after Gary Comegys gave his fire department buds a new toy, that stupid hazmat trailer they don't need.
I'm glad you mentioned the WWTP, too. The sound of crickets is all we've heard on that. What did they cut from the agenda at the beginning of the meeting? Was it something to do with the WWTP? Is that why the mayor wasn't there tonight?
I don't know why, but hearing this stuff bummed me out tonight. Maybe it's the weather. Maybe it was the lousy day at work, busting butt so I can pay for lame attorneys and fire toys. Sorry to complain, but some nights you just got to wonder out loud where the sanity went.

WARNING, WalMart Scam
This has happened to 2 people that I personally know in Salisbury. Please warn Wal-Mart customers. This could happen anywhere you can get cash back, not just at Wal-Mart.
Just to alert everyone. My co worker went to Milford DE Walmart last week. She had her items rung up by the cashier. The cashier hurried her along and didn't give her a receipt. She asked the cashier for a receipt and the cashier was annoyed and gave it to her. My co worker didn't look at her receipt until later that night. The receipt showed that she asked for $20 cash back. SHE DID NOT ASK FOR CASH BACK. My co worker called Walmart who investigated but could not see the cashier pocket the money. She then called her niece who works for the bank and her niece told her this. There is a scam going on. The cashier will ask for cash back and hand it to her friend who is the next person in line. Please, Please , please check your receipts right away when using debit cards. The store has the cashier under investigation now. We can only pray that she is caught very soon.
I am adding to this. My husband and I were in WalMart North Salisbury and paying with credit card when my husband went to sign the credit card signer he just happen to notice there was a $20 cash back added. He told the cashier that he did not ask nor want cash back and she said this machine has been messing up and she canceled it. We really didn't think anything of it until we read this email. Please be aware.
