State Police Arrest Seaford Teen in Text Message Bomb Threat – Message Indicated a Bomb at Seaford High and Middle School’s Tomorrow
Released Sunday, March 22, 2009
Seaford – The Delaware State Police arrested a 13 year old Seaford girl today after she generated a text message stating ‘On Monday the 23rd, Seaford High School and Middle School will receive a bomb! No lie!’ and began sending it to other people.
The investigation began after two area juveniles received the forwarded text message last evening and this afternoon. These persons notified their parents who notified authorities. The DSP began the investigation, and similar to Friday’s arrests’, were able to successfully trace the message back to the 13 year old girl.
The girl and her parents were contacted and questioned in regards to the incident. Detectives learned the girl had heard of the bomb scares on Friday in the Laurel School District, which resulted in the schools closing, and she decided to mirror the same incident in hopes that she would not have to go to school on Monday. She attends the Seaford School District.
Additionally, detectives confirmed she generated the message last night at approximately 10:30 pm and sent it to friends and relatives. Detectives have seized the cellular device and discovered the message was erased from the phones history. As a result of the investigation, the juvenile was arrested for two counts of misdemeanor Terroristic Threatening. She was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court #3 and committed to the Stevenson House in Milford in lieu of a $5,000 cash only bond.
Note - investigators have discovered no evidence that a bomb was going to be placed in any of the schools.

So What's On The Agenda For Tomorrow's City Council Meeting?
WOULD YOU BELIEVE, THE FIRE DEPARTMENT IS AT IT AGAIN?
Here we go AGAIN Folks! The Fire Chief David See & Deputy Chief Gordy went behind the City Council's back once again and have applied for a Grant without going to the Council first. One thing you have to give Police Chief Webster credit for is the fact that he respects the process and always goes to the City Council FIRST before he asks for anything.
Not See & Gordy. Now Get This! Even though the COUNTY has backed and supported the Parsonsburg Fire Department HAZMAT Team, these Firefighters aren't fully qualified to be a first responder in a Hazmat environment. The Salisbury Fire Department is however. That being said, there are NO volunteers within the SFD qualified to be on the Hazmat Team, yet the monies being funneled through this equipment will certainly find its way through the Volunteer account.
If you were to ask around the SFD you'll also come to learn that there is but ONE Firefighter truly interested in anything to do with Hazmat, so purchasing this Trailer and having to match the grant funding, it will cost the taxpayers $17,000.00 just for the trailer alone. None of the rest of the Firefighters want anything to do with this, so I'm told. I'm sure we'll see a bunch of anonymous comments saying differently but those who are qualified and ON the Hazmat Team want it.
Now get this. Guess what the Fire Department says they'll need to pull this Trailer. They claim they'll need a $85,000.00 TRUCK to pull it, NOT mentioned in the proposal. You see Folks, there's always a catch to what See & Gordy do. I highly doubt the Parsonsburg Fire Department spent anywhere near $85,000.00 for a pickup truck to pull their Hazmat Trailer but I'm sure it says FORD on the front of it and not MACK! So once they buy one thing they'll quickly be coming to the City asking for the other, you've been warned Taxpayers.
See & Gordy also haven't informed ANYONE that there hasn't been a TRUE or REAL Hazmat Situation in the past 20 years in the City of Salisbury. In fact, you'll probably see more use out of the Fire Boat than you will the Hazmat Team. Conveniently, when YOU call the 911 Center and let's say you have a gasoline leak. 911 considers that a Hazmat condition, yet it's not. Gasoline can be diluted with water. A Hazmat condition is something like a hydrochloric acid spill, something that just doesn't happen here.
Hazmat Teams are for areas like Baltimore or New York. Where box cars carrying these hazardous materials could derail and so forth. Like what I say or not, this Hazmat Team thing is for the birds. It's complete BS! Once again Chief See & Deputy Chief Gordy are trying to milk the taxpayers for more and more toys and playing the game of, well, it will only cost us $17,000.00 and grant money will pay for the rest. However, the grant specifically states that none of the funds can be used to purchase any part of the vehicle that pulls the trailer. So YOU will be paying for a $85,000.00 Truck once Gary Comegys, Louise Smith and Shanie Shields rams it though tomorrow night's Council Meeting. More TOYS for the Boys.
I have made numerous calls on this and there is not a single person I have spoken to that believes this is important. In fact I have been told that Dick Hazel donated a Pepsi Truck that has been used for years for the Hazmat Team and again, it has never been used for a legitimate Hazmat Condition.
Last week Gordy and Hoppes and others spent most of their entire week behind closed door specking out this trailer, (your tax dollars hard at work again) and again, they did all of this without consulting the City Council first. Instead they'll present it AGAIN as a last minute pressure point on PAC14 trying to make RESPONSIBLE Council Members look bad because more than likely we'll see yet another 3-2 vote, I could be wrong. I should say we should see a 0 - 5 vote on this with ALL Council Members using this as an example saying ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
Remember, the Chief will tell you they had 400 to 500 Hazmat calls last year but NONE of them qualified for a Hazmat condition. The good old scare tactic. OMG, we have 400 calls a year for Hazmat, NOT! Now go sell your pie in the sky package to the Council See & Gordy and let's see how you do.
Oh, there was a drop of mercury spilled at the WWTP once, hardly a Hazmat condition. Now all you're going to hear is, well, what if a propane tank ruptures? What if, what if, what if. Your spending needs to be stopped and we the taxpayers are going to take our City back. Vote for Jim Ireton Folks!
Five Seaford Juveniles Arrested in Burglary
Five Seaford Juveniles Arrested in Burglary – K-9 Leads Police to Suspects Home
Released Sunday, March 22, 2009
Seaford – The Delaware State Police have arrested five Seaford juveniles today in reference to a burglary investigation. At approximately 8:16 this morning, a male homeowner reported to police that he observed three males juveniles running from his residence in the 7000 block of Hearns Pond Road east of Conrail Road, Seaford.
The homeowner further advised police that he observed the subjects in possession of a rifle or long BB gun and that his two vehicles and residence were shot with holes. A state police helicopter and K-9 were summonsed to conduct a search of the area for the suspects after the homeowner realized his home was burglarized.
The police K-9 initiated a track that led to a white residence located in the 22000 block of Conrail Road just west of the crime scene. While on scene, a witness confirmed to police that three males ran into the residence carrying what appeared to be a rifle or long BB gun and they believed the subjects reside there. Troopers contacted several juveniles and quickly learned these were the subjects the victim and witness observed fleeing the crime scene and entering the home on Conrail Road.
Additional investigation revealed the three juveniles had committed the burglary early this morning; and that they and two others had committed another Burglary at the same location the day before. The stolen property, including two pool sticks, two BB Guns and several swords, was located inside the residence. The property was recovered and returned to the victim. Investigators note the suspects forced open the front door to gain entry.
As a result of the investigation, the following charges were levied against the following persons:
11 year old Seaford male, 15 year old Seaford male and another 11 year old Seaford male were charged with 2 counts of Burglary 2nd degree, Conspiracy 2nd Degree, 2 counts of Theft, Criminal Mischief and Disorderly Conduct.
Also, two Seaford females were implicated in the burglary that occurred yesterday. A 14 and 13 year old were arrested for a single count of Burglary, Conspiracy 2nd degree, Theft, Criminal Mischief and Disorderly Conduct.
All persons were released to their parents pending court proceedings in Sussex County Family Court.
Excellent Observation
"I just saw on Yahoo that the Obama's are trying out different churches. They can't seem to find the right one for them. Interesting, they can't make a decision on a church, they can't make a decision on a dog, however, the country has given this man the right to make decisions that involve our country. Interesting thought, huh?"
Major Breaking News Story Tomorrow At 9:10 AM
While I have been dying to break this story since Friday evening, I had chosen to hold it off until Monday where I know it will gain far more attention.
Folks, this story is probably the biggest story to ever hit the Eastern Shore, yet it's directed at the City of Salisbury. Be sure to hang by your computers on Monday morning because this will go down in the history books as one of the greatest stories ever told.

COMEGYS’ CAMPAIGN STRUCTURE ALTERED – MIKEY DUNN DRAFTED TO BOOST BUBBA!
It looks like Comegys got that wake-up call sent in the primary, when he nearly lost to both Jim Ireton and another quality candidate whose campaign was greatly impaired by an accident that confined him for a couple weeks and low funding. Even so, Bob Caldwell came within a few votes of sparing us the scary specter of "Mayor Bubba." It was probably that shenanigan by Barrie Tilghman a day or two before the primary – abusing the air-time afforded to her for "public affairs" programs on WICO – that pulled Comegys’ chestnuts from the fire on March 3.
But Bubba now knows better than to have Barrie and Richard Insley continue as his point persons in the upcoming general election like they did when Comegys was reelected (by a narrow margin) to City Council in 2007. That’s why you no longer see or hear Barrie shilling for him. And both Insley and SAPOA’s special Bubba-booster, T. J. Maloney, seem to have left the arena.
The most significant post-primary change in Bubba’s campaign is the presence of Mike Dunn, who now seems to be the point man after a hiatus of silence following his departure from both the Council and the City itself two years ago. Dunn attended the candidate forum on March 18 and another the following day, when he provided fodder for the Daily Times.
It looks like the only ones who are still playing a public role in the campaign are Lynn and Don (“More Taxes, Please”) Cathcart.
Comegys may come to regret having Howdy-Doody as his booster. There’s Mikey’s abyssmal record and asinine conduct as the leader of the "Dream Team" majority on the Council that was foisted on Salisbury residents by the Chamber of Commerce/Greater Salisbury Committee elitists, almost entirely non-residents, who deem it to be their inalienable right to control the City in order to use it as their cash cow. Recall the active involvement of Ron Alessi, Phil Tilghman and Brad Bellaciccio in the care and feeding of the Dream Team. Bubba’s campaign treasurer, Gamee Elliott, is a past president of the Chamber of Commerce. Then there’s Wm. Gordy – "Mr. Ubiquitous."
And recall that when Dunn left town in 2007, Barrie Tilghman said that there would be future work for him. Now we know what she did not disclose at that time.
Comegys is a pawn for the same business and commercial interests that both propagated and perpetuated Barrie Tilghman’s tenure as mayor to do their bidding. The reality that Jim Ireton could become mayor has them in frenzy. They were able to place an imposter, Louise Smith, on the Council in the last election, but that scam has been exposed. That they have recruited Dunn into the election process is proof that they are desperate.
So, look for Comegys’ campaign to become increasingly strident and negative in nature as his handlers, lead by Dunn, throw their malicious mud and manure at Jim Ireton. No doubt the Daily Times will play its usual role as handmaiden for the business and commercial elite. Salisbury voters ain’t seen nothin yet!
The Farm Bureau Holds Annual Dinner In Sharptown
The traditional center piece for a dinner like this would be fresh cut flowers. However, this year they felt with the economy the way it is, why not spend the same money on canned goods and dried goods in which they donated to the Joseph House. You're thinking, I like that!
The food was absolutely fabulous, (as usual). What really blew me away was the attendance. They had more than 300 people there last night and I have to tell you, this is about the most enjoyable group of people you'll ever come across. I met neighbors I had no idea were neighbors, all of them a complete pleasure to meet. I just love the fact that even though one might be some 4 or 5 miles away, we're in God's Country and quite frankly there just might not be that many homes in between our properties, therefore we actually are neighbors.
The volume of Politicians is quite overwhelming as well. Kratovil was a no show but says he really loves you and looks forward to working with everyone down the road, more or less. He did send one of his Staffers to the event but she didn't really look all too comfortable. I don't know why, because she's a very kind young lady.
As you can see from some of the pictures above, it was a well attended event by all. One thing I walked away from this event with, (besides some of the greatest fellowship good people can share) is that our Farmers are not too happy with the most recently passed legislation as well as what is on the table. Hopefully many of the Farmers can comment on this Post and share their own thoughts on this issue.
Our Eastern Shore Farmers truly do not get the recognition they deserve. I listened to some of the speeches where they mentioned millions upon millions of dollars worth of wheat going overseas and grown right here, "hopefully the Farmer made a profit off of it." Now that's a scary thought. However, if our Farmers didn't do what they do, well, quite frankly we'd all go hungry and die. We take their sun up to sun down hard work for granted and there's no doubt about that.
I personally think it's important to impress upon all of you this year to start purchasing much of your groceries from your local Farmers Market. Take your kids there and give them an education as to where this food comes from and shake hands with your local Farmers and thank them for what they do. It's a dying art Ladies & Gentlemen and our Federal Government is making it more and more difficult to produce and survive with very little profit left in the end. Of course, our Government knows more about Farming than Farmers do, right? NOT!
I'd like to thank the Farm Bureau for their invitation last evening and as always it was great to see so many friends and associates supporting the most wonderful group of people on Delmarva.
Salisbury Boxing
Hey Joe, I just wanted to let you know that Salisbury U junior, Bobby Hammond advanced to the semi-finals of the 156 lb division at the regional 2009 National Collegiate Boxing Championships at Rosecroft Raceway last night. I don't know all the details, but if he wins again tonight, he will fight in the National finals on April 2-4 at the Univ of Maryland. My father is there with the family this weekend and Hal Chernoff(sp) and Fernando are helping him as well.
Bobby Jr. has been trying to get Salisbury Univ to recognize boxing as a club sport, but the school has denied his attempts. With the success of Fernando and the Main St gym, it would be a great time to get more kids interested in boxing and off the streets. Maybe if SBYNews can do a little profile it will help his cause.

Knock, Knock, Who's There?
It's your District 2 Councilwoman Debbie Campbell, that's who. The reception Debbie has received has been overwhelmingly good this year. I truly don't know where she finds the time but let me assure you, this woman just doesn't stop. This go around I found her all the way back behind the State Police Barracks. I had no idea their District went that far!
