The word on the streets in Somerset County is, Joe Albero & Salisbury News Rocks! I am recharging my cell phone for the THIRD time today! One powerful Government Official said to me today, "Everyone is talking about Salisbury News and what took the Daily Times so long to get that story?" Everyone is laughing at the Daily Times because you broke that story almost a week ago Joe.
Yeppers, that's exactly right. We broke many stories the Daily Times is still trying to catch up on and every time I speak to someone about them they say, they've got no one on the street Joe. They have no investigative reporters Joe, No one showed up from the Daily Times Joe.
I've got an idea for the Daily Times. The Mayor will have nothing to do in 60 days from today. Sell her that rag and give it the name it should have been 12 years ago, The Tilghman Times. I would truly enjoy being in the same business as her to show her once again she doesn't belong in business and when I get through with her she'd be paying me just to take over that business after giving it to me for free.
Anyhow, Somerset County is getting an ENEMA from Salisbury News lately as the County Politics needs a good Colin Cleansing. It's been a long time coming and just like the Daily Times, citizens should drop that other Gannett rag of a paper the Somerset Herald. Is it a FREE paper? If it's not, it should be!
Keep that news and information coming Folks. We'll cleans them and turn that County upside down and NOW is the time to do it. To ALL the Law Enforcement Officers throughout the Eastern Shore who have shared their support of the Sheriff Bobby Jones Article, thank you! God Bless ALL of you. And hey, let's be careful out there! Hill Street Blues.

Fruitland Police Department Press Release
Case #: 2009-9142
Incident: Shoplifting, Assault
Date February 18, 2009
Charged: Nathaniel Ottie Taylor 20 yoa 71 Norwell Street Dorchester, Ma.
Charges:
Theft under $100.00
2nd Degree Assault
Disposition: Released to Central Booking
On February 18, 2009 at approximately 4:00 p.m., officers from the Fruitland Police Department responded to a call from Loss Prevention of the Fruitland WalMart regarding a shoplifter who had just fled from the store with loss prevention personnel in pursuit. While enroute, the officers were advised that the suspect had entered the Texas Roadhouse Restaurant’s main entrance. The hostess on duty advised the officers that the man they were looking for just ran into the men’s restroom. As the officers approached the restroom, the suspect exited the restroom. He was short of breath and sweating. He was identified by the WalMart loss prevention personnel, who were on the scene, as being the same subject they had pursued. He was taken into custody and identified from his Massachusetts driver’s license as Nathaniel O Taylor.
The facts leading to the charges are that loss prevention personnel observed Taylor take property belonging to WalMart from the electronic department and walk to the automotive section where he opened the packaging and placed the items in his pocket. Taylor then walked toward the front of the store where he dropped the packaging in the domestic department behind some dishes. Taylor then continued toward the front of the store and exited through the grocery exit, passing all points of sale. Loss prevention personnel caught up to Taylor outside the store, identified himself as being from loss prevention at which time Taylor shoved him. Loss prevention personnel attempted to detain Taylor by grabbing his jacket at which time Taylor pinched him and struck him in the face breaking his glasses. Taylor then pulled free and ran toward the Texas Roadhouse Restaurant. The property taken was recovered but was not resalable.
A Comment Worthy Of A Post Ref. Sheriff Bobby Jones Comments
"Anon 11:03 the Blog is just that a Blog. Your idle implied threat of libel is total bull crap. The document that procures this right in the American Constitution. In this country we can say what we feel is true or just. Our forefathers faught for just that right. You can not have it both ways.
If you are in fact in Law Enforcement then you know there are times we the public are not entitled to or just not given the whole story.
The truth remains the same no matter what.
There has been some mystery attached to numerous happenings in that county by all political officers at one time or another.
As for the comment on man power. I believe the Regional Captain resides in Somerset, A 1st. Sgt. was born in Somerset, they had a 23year Trooper First Class that spent his career at the barrack, along with the other four. They have moved some due to promotions. They have had Troopers that have family with business' located in the county. troopers that own their own business' in the county. I dont care what one states this leads to a form of corruption. It is hard enough to do this job on a daily basis without prejudice. In the sense that when you are related to half of the community in which you police. So dont take it so litteral. Nepatism creates bad situations.
I know of cases that if Mr. Albero did not print it we would not known about it. Call it want you want but he does get the dialogue flowing and that is what this site is all about if you dont like it then dont read it. It garnered a response from you, so it must be working.
The reference to the Davis Ruark case has no place on this post. Ruark paid his dues. Did he do the right thing staying in office. That remains to be seen. In approx. 18 months we will all know the answer to that question.
To say that this site is a discredit to all law Enforcement I totally disagree. It gives one the right to hear the public's version, Joe's version, and mine and yours. It does not get any better that that in a free society.
On that note I think all the officers of the lower shore should form some type of coalition or unity. All the agencies have their fraternal groups and associations. If they combined the effort it would be a political force to be recongnized. This conquer and divide movement by some has caused a great deal of annomosity between brothers and sister with a common goal. The officers have to be cognizant of this issue. It can create a very poor working atmosphere. The heads of Goverment in no way want this to happen for good reason.
I say never have blind allegiance to any goverment or facility. The union of all the Shore Law Enforcement would be such a powerful tool at election time. There is strength in numbers and that is why we will never have this asset.
I would have to say if you are one that has been blogged by Mr. Albero I can see your frustration. If the truth is there I know for a fact he will print your account and not disclose who you are. The little people at the bottom of the totem pole need this avenue to defend themselve's when wrongly accused by the public and by the administration. If you have ever been at the wrong end of a false allegation then you know just what I am talking about. You are on your own. The fear of retaliation when a staff has their marching orders is not a very comfortable place to be. If you are fired froma law enforcement job good luck. The legal process takes almost seven years to wade through. The rank and file see this and have obvious reason to fear the same fate if the intercede. It is the only profession on earth that a split second decision can cost you your livelyhood. We all know of cases that if you are in then you are fine. If you are not part of the inner circle your crap is weak. Unless you are willing to take a swing at the "Big Guys". This is one avenue to get your story out there. The Daily Times is so crontrolled by polictics and finance you will never be heard if the powers to be do not want it out there.
Sheriff Jones will have his day in court. If the sytem works the truth will be determined and he will either pay or stay. That is the reallity of this type of situation. If you were in fact one one the foot soldiers you would be guilty until proven innocent.
I think that is my anger here more that anything else. All politics aside you can not beat goverment. The goverment has enacted laws for two-hundred years to protect goverment.
The true patriots that stand for what America is based on need to stand firm in their convictions and not allow any member of goverment to escape justice. When this happens the common man loses faith in the very sytem that is supposed to guard his or her liberty.
The Milatary, Elected Officials, Courts, Lawyers, and law Enforcement were to be the watchtower of just this. At some point in time we have all veered from this and became defensive in our posture.
These are in fact starnge times to be in the political arena. that goes from the top to the bottem. there is acurrent and i think not just the public, but the officers fighting the war on crimes are as frustrated as i have seen them in over twenty years. It is without a doubt time for some reconcile and get the ship by on course. I will say i have seen one local agncy attempting to do this. i just hope that its leader stands strong in pursuit of justice.
Believe what you want but it is God's work that we do. The laws we enforce are those of the people and not our own. The minute we take these laws as our own, we lose the objectivity needed to be fair and impartial.
This has to be recognized by the courts, the police, the jury, and the public if we are to get back to the great nation we are.
I pray that God watches over us all and justice is served. The mear fact that some want to make this a racial issue is alarming. Race plays such a small role hear. This is nothing more than goverment trying to protect goverment. I for one have had enough.
As for anyone offended by this post take a hard look in the mirror and decide where you fall into this quagmire we have created. I know I have some serious soul searching to do. It is time for a major change if we are to regain the respect of the people.
Mr. Albero keep up the great work dont let those who are affraid of what you write to disillusion your rights and courage to point out the obvious."

GANNETT STOCK CONTINUES TO SET RECORD LOWS
Gannett Co., Inc. - (The Daily Times parent company) - stock price continues its downward spiral again today. It set yet another record low again today and was just trading at $3.78/Share.
The stock value continues to plummet as it looks for 'legs' to sustain it from a complete collapse. Remember folks what happened to Fanny Mae, Freddy Mac when their stock values eroded to similar levels.
The stock value a year ago was trading at near $40/Share and has steadily gone down.

BREAKING NEWS!
ALL Salisbury Fire Departments have been called out to a Structure Fire at Salisbury University. Students have been evacuated. More to come.....
Turns out a large A/C Unit caught on fire, lots of smoke everywhere. They're fanning it out and sending Students back in the building. I wonder why they called for ALL SFD's to go? Don't they have all that money tied up into chase vehicles for the upper brass to get to the scene first and let everyone know what's up? Hmmmmmmm?

There Goes The Neighborhood! Kratovil Has Arrived
Frank Kratovil recycled Wayne Gilchrest's old Office at One Plaza East across from the GOB. The difference, there's a wonderful young black woman at the front desk reading SalisburyNews on her computer. Does anyone know what ever happened to Greg Bassett's Wife? Is she in her old position with Frank? Did he recycle her too? After all, Greg worked so hard to support Frank in the 1st Congressional District Race, Frank had to keep her on board, right?
Frank, I have some wonderful SBYNews banners you can hang on the walls to fill all the gaps if you'd like? I even have some old pictures of people swimming in the Wicomico River near the Zoo years ago. I have some before and after shots near Market Street Inn and Waverly Drive before they threw in the 6 ft. tall pipe? OH, I know, I've got some GREAT photos of the Salisbury WWTP. You know, sludge pits, human feces drying out on the ground, much of which Wayne pretty much ignored but with all that stimulus money coming to the Eastern Shore, we, (you and I) could always do some before and after shots showing all this crap cleaned up, as if you had something to do with it. I've got some before shots in Hebron too. You should really educate yourself on that property before they go and butcher that up too.
I kind of get the feeling we'll see more Daily Times Articles professionally framed by the DT's with you in it, showing how much Salisbury and the Eastern Shore really loves you. I'm a bit insulted you didn't call and ask to rent out 300 W. Main Street? Well, I can't blame you for not taking Office Space at the new Daily Times building though. Yeah, they might not last as long as you in Office, smart move.
Well, welcome to the Hood. Salisbury crime is down Frank, your Staff has nothing to worry about. That is, unless you pay them late in the day and they use an ATM Machine to make their deposit. Oh, even though the State Credit Union is used by almost ALL Police Officers and you'd think criminals wouldn't have the ba((s to rob that joint, think again! I'd recommend your Staff get accounts across the street on the opposite corner of the Office. They have a Camera on that corner that goes right to the SPD. Which reminds me Frank, do YOU have any pull at the SPD? The reason I ask is, the Bank was supposed to release the video of the most recent armed robbery yet no one has seen a thing yet? It must take a really long time to develop that film, eh? Anyhow, Eastern Shore Taxpayers would really like to see who the guy is. We don't want to wait several months for that information like we're still waiting for on the murdered prostitute, with all due respect.

Fruitland Blvd. regarding a shoplifter who had just fled from the store. The officers began searching the area for the subject and several minutes later received another call from Food Lion relating that another subject had just fled the store with stolen merchandise and that both subjects were attempting to enter a dark colored Buick Cutlass in the parking lot. Camden Neighborhood Association Forum Update
Joe,
In answer to the commenter's question today regarding what questions will be posed to mayoral candidates at the Camden Neighborhood Association's 2009 Mayoral Candidate Forum on February 26th, I submit the following:
Camden Neighborhood Association members have been contacted to elicit questions from them on any topic, but with primary emphasis on topics which affect the neighborhood and other neighborhoods which may have similar concerns. These will take priority.
The Salisbury University Student Government Association has also been invited to submit questions that impact those students living within the Camden neighborhood, as well as questions which might affect students in general. Again, questions which address neighborhood concerns will take priority.
Following the presentation of elicited questions, time will be allotted to those who have questions of a more general nature. These may be submitted on site via the 3x5" cards we will make available.
We will call the event to a close not later than 10:00 p.m.
The meeting is open to everyone. Please be advised that seating is limited, and that the first row of seating will be reserved for the handicapped and those 65 years and older, to afford those people the best opportunity to hear and view the proceedings.

A New Update On Brooke Mulford
Joe,
Today is a big day for Brooke. She will be getting some tests done today to determine whether or not the chemo is working. The Dr’s harvested stem cells yesterday and were very successful. 20,000,000 cells in one shot. It really is tremendous. I was hoping to keep her prayer chain going on your site today. I have included an update from her father for you and your readers. Click here http://www.brookemulford.com/journal.cfm and take a few moments to catch up on Brooke’s status and reflect on the many blessings we all hold.
Thanks again Joe for all of the exposure you have lended to team Brooke and our fight against Neuroblastoma.
Kindest regards,
Eric Morris

“Hey everybody, I am a little tired and a little woozy, but guess what? High Fives to everyone. They got over 20,000,000 stem cells today on the first Stem Cell Rescue! They got the target number and I do not have to do it again. It was a long procedure. We were up early this morning at Grammy’s house.Everybody running around and we were in the car and off to CHOP. I slept ok last night thanks to Mommy sleeping with me. We arrived at CHOP about 8:30AM and made our way to the Seashore house where the Apheresis Lab is located to do my Stem Cell Rescue. We quickly got to it. Had blood work done and started getting prepared for the procedures once we got the ok. I told Mommy my counts were up and guess what, I was right the results came back and it was time. They brought in a lot of packages and I got very scared, it looked like a lot of ouchies headed my way! This machine next to bed I was staying in was big and had a lot of knobs and tubes hanging from it. We got everything hooked up and it was not too bad, only a few tears. This was going to take awhile, so I ordered some breakfast and a couple of movies. This would have been torture if I would have had to do this tomorrow again. All those prayers must have worked today, because Mommy and Daddy were fully expecting to have to do it again tomorrow that is kind of the norm we understand. They had to give me a lot of blood to keep everything going smoothly. There were a lot of bags of fluid hanging everywhere. Finally around 2:30PM we were finished. I got to see and touch this special bag of a lightly colored red liquid that Mommy and Daddy both closed there eyes and prayed! This was a lot different than Jesus Juice. For those of you who might of missed that, Jesus Juice is when I have a transfusion. These were the separated Stem Cells that they collected, to later down the road do my bone marrow transplant. All was looking good, until something arrived on the table that caught my eye, it was an ouchie waiting to happen. I had to get an ouchie and a bunch of flushing in my tubies. I tasted a lot of bad tastes in my mouth. I was tired and drained, but my day was not over yet. I was carted down to Radiation to get a shot of dye for my MIBG scan tomorrow. It was late in the day, but if all goes well tomorrow we could leave to go home, that would be 2 days early. I think I might get to go see a movie Friday and Daddy would come too! Tomorrow afternoon I have a CT scan to see if the tumor is shrinking and then the MIBG scan to see if there is less cancer in my bones. This is the scan where I have to lay still for 45 minutes and can not move. If I do they will have to sedate me and that will mean not coming home and feeling lousy when I wake up.
Well I have been waiting to see the Ronald McDonald house and boy is it cool!Daddy was right, it has a cool play room. We got all settled into our room and downstairs we went. Just see my pictures and it had everything I like. After playing we had a nice dinner that was prepared by volunteers. Tonight’s was done by The University of Penn’s Law Team. It was awesome! We then got to see some doggies that were brought over from the University of Penn’s Vet program. I sure do miss Bailey, but I got to pet her on my Daddy’s computer screen today. It was time for bed and I fought that. I hope tomorrow goes well so I can come home early and see my house for a few days before coming back on Monday! Good Night and thank you to everyone for all those prayers, they sure worked today!
I want to say a prayer for Trace who went to AI dupont late Tuesday night with pneumonia in his chest and an infection in his left ear. Please God heal Trace fast so those counts do not go to low!
Can you believe they harvested over 20,000,000 Stem Cells today? They got their target goal on day one, How happy were Amy and I? It was a long procedure and Brooke was a trooper! She then went and had another procedure to boot. She has a clinic visit tomorrow, just to do some blood work and make sure all counts are ok before returning home. Then she will get the CT scan and MIBG Scan too see how the first two rounds of Chemo have done.Next week begins her third round. Monday is a bone marrow scan. She will have to be sedated for this, and it will make for a long week. That is the procedure Brooke likes to call when she wakes up and has two band aides on her hinny! Mommy they take my bone marrow, and leave two band aides. She is sore after this! We also understand that the drugs they use in the third round are strong and it could be a tuff week on Brooke. We will cross that bridge next week! For now I need to go to bed, but wanted to keep you all up to date!
PS. It’s Brookie! Daddy forgot to thank the 4th grade classes of SCS from our last visit. Daddy’s cousin Sheryl and husband Mr Dave put everything together from Mrs. Black and Mrs. Wackett’s classes and I had 7 days of presents. I opened one everyday on my last Chemo round. I got to open the package and card every morning after I ate my breakfast. Thank You everyone!”

Sheriff Bobby Jones Of Somerset County Is In Some Serious Trouble
The Good Old Boy system is alive and well in Somerset County Ladies & Gentlemen. You might even question if Wicomico County has some issues as well. This story is like going back in time, like the 1950's.
Mrs. Pusey, (the victim) was a victim of a home invasion Dec. 11th 2008 at 11:48 PM at her home in Somerset County at the Princess Anne Apartments on N. Somerset Ave. just outside the Town limits. Last Thursday she noticed a white Crown Victoria parked outside her home in her personal parking space. Out of curiosity she went out to the vehicle and knocked on the passenger window. The person in the vehicle turned his head away and Mrs. Pusey continued to ask him what he was doing there. If you can't tell me why I'm going to call 911. I was recently broken into and I'm calling 911.
The Sheriff answered in what I'm told took several times to understand, I'm undercover and you're going to blow my cover. It was very evident, (according to Mrs. Pusey) that the Sheriff was allegedly drunk. She went on to tell me that any time he tried to speak he was slurring and it was very difficult to understand him at all and continued to turn his head away. He kept trying to open the window in the passenger side but he kept opening all of the other windows as he was having a very difficult time getting the window open on Mrs. Pusey's side.
Mrs. Pusey explained to him that this was a private residence and he had no business being there. She then called 911 and then approaches the back of his car and started reading his tag number to the 911 operator. Sheriff Jones started yelling, DON'T CALL THE POLICE, DON'T CALL THE POLICE, I AM THE COPS.
At that point a young girl named Emily came out of one of the apartments and got into the car and said, Bobby, just F/N lock her up and get it the F_ _ k over with. Mrs. Pusey looked through the rear window of the car and into the rear view mirror and Sheriff Jones looked right at her and backed up. Sheriff Jones then hit the accelerator in reverse and hit Mrs. Pusey, sending her flying like a rag doll. He then put it in drive and started moving forward and hit Mrs. Pusey in the back. She was starting to stand up when he hit her again.
This all happened while she was on the phone with the 911 operator. She was scared, she was yelling. Her friend Joe and her Sister came running over to Donna yelling STOP! Sheriff Jones got out of his car, he almost fell on the ground, staggering and then held onto the car to stop from falling on the ground. He then flashed his badge and said, I am the Cops.
At this point a neighbor came out of her door and recognized the Sheriff. The neighbor said you could smell him before he got to him. He said, Bobby, what are you doing, your drunk again. Mrs. Pusey was assisted back towards her home and the 911 operator said the Police are on their way. Sheriff Jones then pulled out of their and fled, rather fast, Mrs. Pusey said.
The State Police finally showed up. Mrs. Pusey said it took quite a while for the State Police to show up and then they were talking in the parking lot, (two State Troopers) about 10 minutes. Witnesses were instructing the State Police Officers where Mrs. Pusey was and to go over and talk to her. When they finally came over to her apartment the Trooper asked what had happened and she said I was hit by Bobby Jones. She only knew his name because neighbors kept telling her who he was.
The Officer never did give Mrs. Pusey his name and then stated they were going to go try and locate him. She told them what car he was in and by that time he was already home. Hind site, it seemed like they were giving him time to get home, Mrs. Pusey said.
Mrs. Pusey then called her Son to take her to the Hospital and that's where State Police gave her a Police Report. The State Police were called a second time by the Hospital/Doctors because she was hit by a car. The Hospital took x-rays all over her body. There were no broken bones but her body had been sprained and strained. She had bruises on her lower back. No photos were taken at the time.
Mrs. Pusey had them write out a report at the Hospital. State Police Supervisor allegedly said, do you realize your accusations are on an Elected Official? Mrs. Pusey never received a card, a report number and or a copy of the complaint she was asked to write up at the Hospital. The State Police then gave Mrs. Pusey and her friend Joe a breathalyzer test outside the Hospital. Mrs. Pusey does not drink. I'm an epileptic, she said. Joe's Breathalyzer was a .03 and said it was over the limit and that he would not be a reliable witness. Mrs. Pusey said that was fine because her Sister was there and her neighbor Rick saw it as well. Rick is the neighbor that knew Bobby Jones and said something about his drinking at the scene.
The following day Mrs. Pusey witnessed Sheriff Bobby Jones driving past her home 3 times. She said it could have been more than three times but she knew for sure she had seen him three times. Her friend Joe got on a bicycle and rode it to the Pharmacy to pick up a prescription for Mrs. Pusey and was followed by Sheriff Bobby Jones all the way from the residence to the Pharmacy. He went inside to give them her prescription and Sheriff Jones followed him into the Pharmacy and actually walked to the back of the store and simply said hello to the people working at the back counter. He then said hello to Joe and left. Joe had to wait a good 30 minutes for them to fill the prescription and when he exited the store, there was Sheriff Bobby Jones again.
Because they were now in fear for their lives they went into the Somerset County District Court and met with Mrs. Gladys Johnson, a Somerset County District Court Commissioner. Mrs. Johnson interviewed Mrs. Pusey and then called the Md. State Police and asked for a Case #. The State Police told Commissioner Johnson there was no case or case #. Mrs. Johnson then stated, Mrs. Pusey is sitting right here at my desk, there must be a case number. The Officer then said, wait a minute. Someone just told me there was a report. Commissioner Johnson was going to grant a Peace Order but told Mrs. Pusey there were just too many red flags in this case and she immediately contacted Wicomico County Commissioner Mrs. Timmons. She told Mrs. Pusey they would be waiting for her in Salisbury and Mrs. Timmons granted an immediate Peace Order.
Sheriff Bobby Jones showed up at Court yesterday (the original scheduled court date for the Peace Order) without a lawyer and asked for a continuance. His Lawyer David Moore was thousands of miles away. Judge Whitehead granted the extension for an additional day, today at 1:30 PM. Today they were in front of Judge Nunn and things got quite interesting from there. The Judge today allowed yet another extension on this case until the 24th of this month. Now, he also stated that Mrs. Pusey needed to get a lawyer and encouraged that Mrs. Pusey try to "work it out" between her lawyer and Sheriff Jones' lawyer David Moore.
Attorney David Moore said he wanted ALL of her witnesses as he wanted to do background checks on each and every one of them before they go to Court. The Judge then said, Perhaps you can talk and resolve your issues in the mean time. Mrs. Pusey replied, "Judge, I encourage you to talk to Mr. Jones attorney, this man ran over me with his car." Mind you, Mrs. Pusey is an elderly woman who stood there in front of the Judge with a cane. Judge Nunn granted the extension and again suggested she get a lawyer.
Criminal Investigator Pilcher contacted Mrs. Pusey today just before today's court hearing. I found that quite interesting as well because one would think this would have happened several days ago. I can understand their being somewhat busy but this case STINKS! I immediately made some phone calls because Mrs. Pusey is not in any position to hire an attorney. She is on disability and truly in fear for her life. The Judge today should have recognized this and I'm confident he read the reports. Clearly Mr. Jones doesn't care about the Peace Order and even one of the Commissioners stated this was stalking. That's allegedly why she granted the Peace Order to start with.
Mrs. Pusey is in such fear that she has since returned to her home and is in hiding. Once again, because she didn't have legal council she was not able to express her side today with yet a different Judge. I'm confident that if Judge Nunn knew that she was in hiding and afraid to go home, there would have been a different outcome today. I CANNOT see why they treated this case like a criminal case and granted Jones an extension. It was a Peace Order for crying out loud! I confirmed today that Mrs. Pusey does NOT have to provide David Moore with all of her witnesses. In fact, there were several unusual mistakes today in which you can now expect this case to possibly go to the Attorney General and rather than a simple Peace Order, it may become a criminal case and things will be handled quite differently from here on out. Mrs. Pusey can then get a lawyer provided by the State and while Judge Nunn encouraged she get a lawyer for the Peace Order, this is absolutely not true at all. This is a Peace Order and in my honest opinion, this case should have been heard yesterday. This elderly woman went to Court yesterday, then again today and now she's expected to return next week again. In the mean time she's living somewhere else.
Oh, when they left the Court House yesterday after the first hearing, someone in an unmarked crown Victoria followed them to Tim's Restaurant near the DMV in Salisbury. They kept pacing the sidewalk back and forth several times and then walked into the restaurant and only made eye contact with Mrs. Pusey.
Now, do I believe Mrs. Pusey? You better darned well believe I do! I also spoke with a few of her witnesses and let me also assure you, these people are truly in fear for their lives and I mean that with all my heart. When I heard this story several days ago, I have to be honest with you, I couldn't believe it. When I confirmed it I was still in shock. Then I spoke with someone reliable again and they told me a completely different story. That left me wondering which story was true. The first story I had heard was accurate.
Sheriff Bobby Jones HAD been drinking that day, that's been confirmed. When they went to his home after the alleged hit and run or whatever else you want to call it, there's no question he had been drinking. There's this convenience that the Police can't prove he was drunk at the time Mrs. Pusey was allegedly hit by his vehicle, so they say. However, a neighbor said he could smell him before he ever got up close to him and even told him, Bobby, you've been drinking again.
IMHO, Sheriff Bobby Jones should have been locked up and arrested right away. I had also been told he was at that location with his Son's Girlfriend so she could allegedly purchase prescription drugs. There's no question in my mind at this point that this Sheriff has some very serious issues. I'm told he can be seen driving this young lady around all the time in his Police vehicle.
The Justice System has failed Mrs. Pusey and her friends for now but I would expect that to change overnight. As a Grandmother of 4, she doesn't deserve this.
UPDATE: I see the Daily Times finally got on board with my story. Let's see, I have been on this for what, 6 days now? Anyhow, here's what they printed. What say you now nay sayers?http://www.delmarvanow.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090219/NEWS01/902190397&s=d&page=2#pluckcomments

I Want A Divorce
I want a divorce
By John J. Wall
Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists, and Obama supporters, et al:
We have stuck together since the late 1950's, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know, we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but, sadly, this relationship has run its course. Our two ideological sides of America cannot, and will not ever agree on what is right, so let's just end it on friendly terms. We can smile, chalk it up to irreconcilable differences, and go our own way.
Here is a model separation agreement:
Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each taking a portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that it should be relatively easy. Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes.

We don't like redistributive taxes so you can keep them. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU. Since you hate guns and war, we'll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA, and the military. Linda Kent Shuts Down Waller Landing, For Now
Last night in Hebron the Town Council was supposed to present what citizens thought was a finding of facts meeting. However, things turned quickly and they were getting ready to take a vote on the entire project. Linda Kent was quick to raise her hand and ask for a point of order. She immediately presented documents clearly showing the Developer was no longer in good standings with the State of Maryland and because of such she demanded that they stop everything until the Developer was licensed properly to move forward. They didn't dot their I's and cross their T's.
The Council tried to argue with her, including their attorney from Annapolis but her case was perfectly clear and they asked everyone to leave the building while they went into closed session.
The bad part was, everyone had to step outside the building in the cold and rain and wait them out. They took about a half hour before they allowed everyone back into the building and made a motion to not move forward until the Developer was back in good standings with the state.
Now one of the problems they'll have in the near future is elections. Will the Council remain the same? Will they try to take this to a vote again before the elections? Will the new Council agree to move forward with the project? There are lots of good questions about what the future holds for everyone involved but Linda Kent was right. Obviously the saga continues in Hebron and there will be several more stories ahead. When Linda tried talking to the Developer outside he refused to even recognize her. Oh, the memories of the Old Salisbury Mall come to mind and clearly the Developers are all the same.

This came in as a comment this morning and I thought I'd share it with everyone. Hope you like the Blues?

Attention Hebron Taxpayers
ARE YOU A HEBRON TAXPAYER AND DISSATISFIED WITH THE CURRENT DIRECTION OF THE TOWN COMMISSIONERS?
If so, there is an election on April 14, 2009, for THREE seats on the Commissioners. This is a chance to make it clear (as many have told us) that the citizens of Hebron DO NOT AGREE with many of the actions (including Waller Landing) that the Commissioners are taking.
If no one steps up, the current path for Hebron will not change.
Please consider filing for a seat on the Commissioners – not to take advantage of this chance to replace THREE COMMISSIONERS at this time will truly be your missed opportunity!!!!!!!!
PLEASE step up – be assured there are fellow citizens who will help you walk door-to-door, print flyers, etc. !!!!!!!!
For any questions, you are encouraged to call 410-543-8977.
Thank you (and your Hebron neighbors will thank you also).

Michelle Obama Transparency
NOW THIS IS THE "TRANSPARENCY" THAT OBAMA WAS TALKING ABOUT. PRETTY CLEAR TO ME.
*Subject:* Replacing Michelle
At the top right hand corner of Page 17 of the New York Post of January 24th, 2009, was a short column entitled " Replacing Michelle " in the National Review "The Week" column. I found this interesting, so here it is, word for word, as it appeared days ago......
'Some employees are simply irreplaceable. Take Michelle Obama: The University of Chicago Medical center hired her in 2002 to run "programs for community relations, neighborhood outreach, volunteer recruitment, staff diversity and minority contracting." In 2005 the hospital raised her salary from $120,000 to $317,000 - nearly twice what her husband made as a Senator. Oh, did we mention that her husband had just become a US Senator? He sure had. Requested a $1 Million earmark for the UC Medical Center, in fact. Way to network Michelle! But now that Mrs Obama has resigned, the hospital says her position will remain unfilled. How can that be, if the work she did was vital enough to be worth $317,000? We can think of only one explanation: Senator Roland Burris's wife wasn't interested.
---The Editors of National Review, writing in the Magazine's Feb 9 issue.'
So there you have it. We can all draw our own conclusions.

11 Most Expensive Catastrophes in History
# 11. Titanic - $150 Million
The sinking of the Titanic is possibly the most famous accident in the world. But it barely makes our list of top 10 most expensive. On April 15, 1912, the Titanic sank on its maiden voyage and was considered to be the most luxurious ocean liner ever built. Over 1,500 people lost their lives when the ship ran into an iceberg and sunk in frigid waters. The ship cost $7 million to build ($150 million in today ' s dollars).
# 10. Tanker Truck vs Bridge - $358 Million
On August 26, 2004, a car collided with a tanker truck containing 32,000 liters of fuel on the Wiehltal Bridge in Germany . The tanker crashed through the guardrail and fell 90 feet off the A4 Autobahn resulting in a huge explosion and fire which destroyed the load-bearing ability of the bridge. Temporary repairs cost $40 million and the cost to replace the bridge is estimated at $318 Million.
# 9. MetroLink Crash - $500 Million
On September 12, 2008, in what was one of the worst train crashes in California history, 25 people were killed when a Metrolink commuter train crashed head-on into a Union Pacific freight train in Los Angeles . It is thought that the Metrolink train may have run through a red signal while the conductor was busy text messaging.. Wrongful death lawsuits are expected to cause $500 million in losses for Metrolink.
# 8. B-2 Bomber Crash - $1.4 Billion
Here we have our first billion dollar accident (and we ' re only #7 on the list). This B-2 stealth bomber crashed shortly after taking off from an air base in Guam on February 23, 2008. Investigators blamed distorted data in the flight control computers caused by moisture in the system. This resulted in the aircraft making a sudden nose-up move which made the B-2 stall and crash. This was 1 of only 21 ever built and was the most expensive aviation accident in history. Both pilots were able to eject to safety.
# 7. Exxon Valdez - $2.5 Billion
The Exxon Valdez oil spill was not a large one in relation to the world ' s biggest oil spills, but it was a costly one due to the remote location of Prince William Sound (accessible only by helicopter and boat). On March 24, 1989, 10.8 million gallons of oil was spilled when the ship ' s master, Joseph Hazelwood, left the controls and the ship crashed into a Reef. The cleanup cost Exxon $2.5 billion.
# 6. Piper Alpha Oil Rig - $3.4 Billion
The world ' s worst off-shore oil disaster. At one time, it was the world ' s single largest oil producer, spewing out 317,000 barrels of oil per day. On July 6, 1988, as part of routine maintenance, technicians removed and checked safety valves which were essential in preventing dangerous build-up of liquid gas. There were 100 identical safety valves which were checked. Unfortunately, the technicians made a mistake and forgot to replace one of them. At 10 PM that same night, a technician pressed a start button for the liquid gas pumps and the world ' s most expensive oil rig accident was set in motion.
Within 2 hours, the 300 foot platform was engulfed in flames. It eventually collapsed, killing 167 workers and resulting in $3.4 Billion in damages.
# 5. Challenger Explosion - $5.5 Billion
The Space Shuttle Challenger was destroyed 73 seconds after takeoff due on January 28, 1986 due to a faulty O-ring. It failed to seal one of the joints, allowing pressurized gas to reach the outside. This in turn caused the external tank to dump its payload of liquid hydrogen causing a massive explosion. The cost of replacing the Space Shuttle was $2 billion in 1986 ($4.5 billion in today ' s dollars). The cost of investigation, problem correction, and replacement of lost equipment cost $450 million from 1986-1987 ($1 Billion in today ' s dollars).
# 4. Prestige Oil Spill - $12 Billion
On November 13, 2002, the Prestige oil tanker was carrying 77,000 tons of heavy fuel oil when one of its twelve tanks burst during a storm off Galicia , Spain . Fearing that the ship would sink, the captain called for help from Spanish rescue workers, expecting them to take the ship into harbour. However, pressure from local authorities forced the captain to steer the ship away from the coast. The captain tried to get help from the French and Portuguese authorities, but they too ordered the ship away from their shores. The storm eventually took its toll on the ship resulting in the tanker splitting in half and releasing 20 million gallons oil into the sea.
According to a report by the Pontevedra Economist Board, the total cleanup cost $12 billion.
# 3. Space Shuttle Columbia - $13 Billion
The Space Shuttle Columbia was the first space worthy shuttle in NASA ' s orbital fleet. It was destroyed during re-entry over Texas on February 1, 2003 after a hole was punctured in one of the wings during launch 16 days earlier. The original cost of the shuttle was $2 Billion in 1978. That comes out to $6.3 Billion in today ' s dollars. $500 million was spent on the investigation, making it the costliest aircraft accident investigation in history. The search and recovery of debris cost $300 million.
In the end, the total cost of the accident (not including replacement of the shuttle) came out to $13 Billion according to the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics..
# 2. Chernobyl - $200 Billion
On April 26, 1986, the world witnessed the costliest accident in history. The Chernobyl disaster has been called the biggest socio-economic catastrophe in peacetime history. 50% of the area of Ukraine is in some way contaminated. Over 200,000 people had to be evacuated and resettled while 1.7 million people were directly affected by the disaster. The death toll attributed to Chernobyl , including people who died from cancer years later, is estimated at 125,000. The total costs including cleanup, resettlement, and compensation to victims has been estimated to be roughly $200 Billion. The cost of a new steel shelter for the Chernobyl nuclear plant will cost $2 billion alone. The accident was officially attributed to power plant operators who violated plant procedures and were ignorant of the safety requirements needed.

A View From The Media Centre: DTV Part 2
WBOC-TV Studios in Salisbury, Maryland |
This is the second of two pieces, the first one was started in September 2008. In this part, I will update a couple of events which happened and look at the production aspects of DTV/HD which includes my much anticipated impressions of the WBOC news plex.
Wow, what a whirlwind few months. Let's talk about the obvious, the digital television deadline has been pushed back to June. Even though this has been advertised for over a year and a half, President Barack Obama felt that people are not prepared. Not that he is totally wrong, the government just did not allocate enough money for DTV coupons, but I do think people did know about it, but I digress.
Despite the delay, more than 300 stations decide to save some money and shut off their analog transmitters on the pre-determined deadline, February 17. This does include WBFF-TV (Channel 45) and WNUV-TV (Channel 54) in Baltimore. Both are managed by Sinclair Broadcasting Group (WBFF is officially owned, while WNUV is effectively owned since members of the family that own Sinclair owns WNUV's parent company, Glencairn.) The switch does not include WBOC-TV (Channel 16) which wanted to switch early, but the FCC rejected their request and part of the blame goes to WMDT-TV (Channel 47). WMDT went all-digital this past September, and the FCC wants to keep at least one analog signal on, particularly in small markets, as sort of a night light before the absolute last day this summer.
Stations in the Greater Washington Area are still sticking to analog, at least for now. No word has been given on a transition date.
Among stations serving Maryland in High Defenition are WUSA-TV (Channel 9) in Washington, which was the first station. WBFF was the second station, however they were first in Baltimore. WTTG-TV (Channel 5), WJLA-TV (Channel 7) and WBAL-TV (Channel 11) all went high def within the past six months. WBAL has a really cool open as well. However, it's a shame that the news sets for these stations in markets no. 8 (Washington) and 24 (Baltimore) are very unimpressive, when it compares to the WBOC NewsPlex serving the Salisbury-Ocean City market, which currently ranks at no. 147.
Behind the WBOC building on N. Salisbury Boulevard is the WBOC NewsPlex, which looks and feels like a sound stage in Los Angeles. Now the moment every has been waiting for, a look at the WBOC News Plex from a broadcasters point of view. These pictures were taken during my visit in August, when I was in Ocean City for the MACo Summer Conference.
The NewsPlex is controlled by a production system called "Ignite" which was made by Grass Valley, a long time maker of television equipment. This is state of the art equipment which is being used in a lot of big markets in addition to small markets. Where the control room would be filled with a crew of people working various roles (audio, teleprompter, robotic cameras, graphics, etc.,) with Ignite, all of these roles are done by ONE person.
For a preview of what Ignite was like, a friend of mine, who worked for Disney/ABC-owned WTVD-TV in Durham, North Carolina, which went HD last May. He sent me his reactions around the time I wrote part one. "At WTVD the reaction to me has been very mixed, however most see it for what it is, a cost cutting measure and quick way to go HD. I've seen good and bad from IGNITE but at the same time the "RUN" button is only doing the techinical directing and audio though a coded timeline controlled by the director. Graphics operator (my position), cameras and teleprompter are still done by people. The biggest problem I've seen from our IGNITE is audio related problems like losing mix-minus or clip mics. Also, another problem is routing remotes or live shots. It has not been too bad during breaking news events [but] you can tell it doesn't respond well to unplanned events. We've had one day where we lost our video sources and had to roll everything from a backup edit bay."
The best part for me is that WBOC is now streaming their news on their website. So far, none of the glitches that I have heard about happened. In one case, WPXI-TV in Pittsburgh had to do one of the noon newscasts in the parking lot of their studios.
The cameras at WBOC are set in place, except for a crane camera, which is still controlled by a human. I should also note that it is the only camera that has a viewfinder. The other cameras in the studio do not. They are completely under the direction of the director.
Here is the newsroom. The area that is most visible is the producer bullpen towards the front of the picture. The back area where the station logo is where the assignment area is. Behind the logo is a little secret that is coming out right now in case it hasn't already...
A hidden audio booth where reporters can record narration. I would not be surprised if they fix it so Don Elkins and Steve Hammond would not have to run towards the front of the building to do radio updates. The audio booth is a similar set up to what I have in my home studio in Laurel, Maryland. I am one step away from being able to do live broadcasting from my living room (although with the internet, I am already there with the right software.)
This is the interview area towards the left. The green walls can be used as chromakey for the weather segment. In addition, to the green screen, anything can be inserted in the background. This part of the NewsPlex is mostly used during the 7:00pm news.
The weather set is conveniently next to the interview/background area.
Here is a close up of the infamous rotating anchor desk. I did not see it turn, unfortunately. The only other set in the region with a rotating anchor desk is WBFF in Baltimore. The difference is that WBOC's desk is machine controlled.
The WBOC NewsPlex is extremely impressive for a market the size of Salisbury, let alone in generic terms in the world of broadcasting on the east coast. A lot of planning has gone into this and it shows. Special thanks for Craig Jahelka, General Manager of WBOC and Renee Marine, the Executive Producer of WBOC who showed me around. I would also want to say hello to the afformentioned Don Elkins and and Steve Hammond, who I met on that day. I hope that MACo invites me to their conference again this year.

It was one year ago today the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office arrested Ray Lewis and invaded A.S.A.P. grounds finding hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of stolen merchandise.
Today, Ray Lewis sits in Jail for his role in the Landfill Theft Scheme and some of the others involved have recently been considered as suspects who are still employed with the County. It's amazing how fast time flies.
80 Year Old Woman Arrested For Shoplifting
This 80 year old woman was arrested for shop lifting.
When she went before the judge in Cincinnati he asked her, "What did you steal?" She replied, "A can of peaches."
The judge then asked her why she had stolen the can of peaches and she replied that she was hungry. The judge then asked her how many peaches were in the can. She replied 6.
The judge then said, "I will then give you 6 days in jail."
Before the judge could actually pronounce the punishment, the woman's husband spoke up and asked the judge if he could say something. The judge said, "What is it?"
The husband said, "She also stole a can of peas."

AAADD, KNOW THE SYMPTOMS
Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder.
Somehow I feel better, even though I have it!!
Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. -
Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.
This is how it manifests:
I decide to water my garden.
As I turn on the hose in the driveway,
I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.
As I start toward the garage,
I notice mail on the porch table that
I brought up from the mail box earlier.
I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.
I lay my car keys on the table,
put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table,
and notice that the can is full.
So, I decide to put the bills back
on the table and take out the garbage first.
But then I think,
since I'm going to be near the mailbox
when I take out the garbage anyway,
I may as well pay the bills first.
I take my check book off the table,
and see that there is only one check left.
My extra checks are in my desk in the study,
so I go inside the house to my desk where
I find the can of Pepsi I'd been drinking
I'm going to look for my checks,
but first I need to push the Pepsi aside
so that I don't accidentally knock it over.
The Pepsi is getting warm,
and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.
As I head toward the kitchen with the Pepsi,
a vase of flowers on the counter
catches my eye--they need water.
I put the Pepsi on the counter and
discover my reading glasses that
I've been searching for all morning.
I decide I better put them back on my desk,
but first I'm going to water the flowers.
I set the glasses back down on the counter,
fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote.
Someone left it on the kitchen table.
I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV,
I'll be looking for the remote,
but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table,
so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs,
but first I'll water the flowers.
I pour some water in the flowers,
but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.
So, I set the remote back on the table,
get some towels and wipe up the spill.
Then, I head down the hall trying to
remember what I was planning to do.
At the end of the day:
the car isn't washed
the bills aren't paid
there is a warm can of Pepsi sitting on the counter
the flowers don't have enough water,
there is still only 1 check in my check book,
I can't find the remote,
I can't find my glasses,
and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.
Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today,
I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all damn day,
and I'm really tired.
I realize this is a serious problem,
and I'll try to get some help for it,
but first I'll check my e-mail...
Do me a favor.
Forward this message to everyone you know,
because I don't remember who the hell I've sent it to.
Don't laugh -- if this isn't you yet, your day is coming!

Louise Smith Schedules Another Clean Up On A Thursday Morning?
We have set the date for the next President Smith's Clean Up Campaign!
The date is Thursday, February 26th @ 10 a.m. here at Neighborhood Services office on Church Street.
Can someone please tell me who will be OFF on a Thursday at 10:00 AM? My guess, Comegys will be there, he works for the SHA, remember?

We Are Getting Closer Every Day
Norman Mattoon Thomas (November 20, 1884 - December 19, 1968) was a leading American socialist, pacifist, and six-time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America. He was ordained as a Presbyterian minister in 1911.
As a candidate for President of the U. S. Norman Thomas said, in a 1944 epoch speech:
"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of "liberalism", they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened."
He went on to say: "I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democratic Party has adopted our platform."
Eastern Shore Indoor Track
2009 Maryland State Indoor Track & Field Championships
This past week, students from 1A, 2A and 3A high schools participated in the 2009 Maryland State Indoor Track & Field Championships. It is a whole different world in that competition. The venue is the Prince Georges County Sports and Learning Complex. The Snow Hill Indoor arena is a huge improvement over the Wicomico Civic Center. At Snow Hill the arena is a 166 meter course and at the states there is a 200 meter course. The change takes some adjustment in strategy and technique. Many schools on the Western Shore are accustomed to the course and have a big advantage. Having said that, a lot of local athletes did well at the States. Readers please feel free to add positive comments about different schools and athletes.

Mardela has put teams together and we want to encourage them to keep at it. The Early Girls will be missed. The coach is a very good encourager.
Snow Hill is putting teams up there and David Hall is doing a good job.
North Caroline's Tip Worob came in sixth in the 3200 meter race with a 10:23. The program there is growing and the coach is doing a good consistent job.
1A 1600 Maurice Cotton ran a great race. About half way through the race, he was in sixth place. He had the heart to put it into gear and go after some guys. He ended strongly in third place. He has been a great competitor and I hope he has inspired others to run in the Washington program. He has put in a lot of unheralded work while running at Washington and his character will do him well in his studies in the future.
Eldon Smith from WiHi came in fifth in the 55 meter dash with a 6.733. He will be returning next year
Nolan Matthews from Kent Island came in third on the 800 with a 2:04.86. Teammate John Taylor finished second in the 55 meter hurdles and third in the high jump. I will miss the Kent Island families.
Bennett's Dan Webster ran his best time ever and finished second in the 1600 with a 4:30.00 time. The first place winner, Craig Morgan, set a record for 2A with a 4:21. Luke Arbuckle of Elkton finished third with a 4:34.39. Ryan Moreno captured fourth place in the pole vault. Previous State Champ (Pole vault) Zack Dorman has been working very long hours with Bennett's Rock and Roll Revival and has been sick lately.
Zack Temple of Parkside finished seventh in the 1600 with a 4:46.54 and fifth in the 3200 with a 10:20.58. He also ran relays that other runners did not have to run. He has a lot of heart and is a great team player. Parkside's relay team won a very respectable fourth place witha 8:52.26. Zack Temple, Tommy Robinson, Zak Osborne and Eric Wood ran well against a lot of good teams.
Meredith Rogers finished fifth in the 55 meter dash for Bennett at 7:52. Brigegue Woodson came in fourth with a 8.95 in the 55 meter hurdles and Misha Holmes from North Caroline came in fifth at 9:90 .
Charlotte Staver for Queen Annes came in second but had her best time ever in the 800 meters with a 2:17.03.
I would recommend Track programs in your schools. It has been a supportive environment. My wife and I have gotten to know families from all over the Eastern Shore. We have come to pull for athletes from schools other than our own. A lot of the hatred of rival teams can be out there these days and track seems to give a positive outlet. Sportsmanship is encouraged. Kwame Bryant of Parkside exemplifies good sportsmanship. I watch him after every race congratulate the other runners.
This report encompasses the 1A 2A Meet. I would encourage someone who attended the 3 A Meet to chime in and give a report.
Good job to all those who have participated. Check the results of your school athletes who ran ( it would take many pages to cover everyone). Running Maryland website is a great tool out there to get excited about your own track program. Feel free to add something positive about your team.
