Linda Kent Shuts Down Waller Landing, For Now

Last night in Hebron the Town Council was supposed to present what citizens thought was a finding of facts meeting. However, things turned quickly and they were getting ready to take a vote on the entire project. Linda Kent was quick to raise her hand and ask for a point of order. She immediately presented documents clearly showing the Developer was no longer in good standings with the State of Maryland and because of such she demanded that they stop everything until the Developer was licensed properly to move forward. They didn't dot their I's and cross their T's.

The Council tried to argue with her, including their attorney from Annapolis but her case was perfectly clear and they asked everyone to leave the building while they went into closed session.

The bad part was, everyone had to step outside the building in the cold and rain and wait them out. They took about a half hour before they allowed everyone back into the building and made a motion to not move forward until the Developer was back in good standings with the state.

Now one of the problems they'll have in the near future is elections. Will the Council remain the same? Will they try to take this to a vote again before the elections? Will the new Council agree to move forward with the project? There are lots of good questions about what the future holds for everyone involved but Linda Kent was right. Obviously the saga continues in Hebron and there will be several more stories ahead. When Linda tried talking to the Developer outside he refused to even recognize her. Oh, the memories of the Old Salisbury Mall come to mind and clearly the Developers are all the same.

Please keep us up to date on Hebron's Meeting Schedule. I was not aware of the meeting or I would have been there.

  3. What happened here in Hebron last might was a disgusting display of ineptitude by the town clowns. How much in wasted legal fees, for not just one but two attorneys?

We can get rid of those buffoons, and this absurd development, in the election -- let's do it!

We don't want or need another Salisbury.

  4. What a pleasure to see "The Lady of 100 Hats" still in the ring fighting this that are killing the character of Delmarva.

With all the empty houses, do people really want to move here any longer considering all the violent crime and degrading intrastructure?

  5. The shame of it all is that everyone at the table of leadership (including TWO attorneys) are clueless and are leading the poor Hebron taxpayers over a cliff. Stand up, Hebron taxpayers. The attorneys that taxpayers are paying (one to drive from Annapolis) should have been watching this LLC but, alas, they were not--not watching other things either. Game on.

  6. to 9:02AM--hey, HEbron can't even keep the citizens advised of meetings. Three changes or cancellations in the last two weeks--hey, run down to the Barbershop and check there--oh, sorry it might be closed, so go to the door of Town Hall--it's too dark, can't read what sign says.
Can't spend a couple hundred for a Website but can spend LOTS of money on buying a rental home that needs repair, tenants, insurance--that's good logic??? Wake up, Hebron--get these bozos out of office.

  7. Hebron - Just say NO!

Mrs. Kent is a great lady, trust me she's only trying to help you avoid becoming another Salisbury.

  8. Who is the developer?

  9. You are soooooooo right, Joe--developers at Mall, as I recall, did same thing and did not keep their LLC in good standing with the State of Maryland. Am sure these Hebron slicksters will come up with some whining excuse like it went to a wrong address.. crybabies. But Hebron attorneys and 'leaders' think these developers walk on water.
Heck, Hooper wouldn't even make the developers locate the historic cemetery on the land.

The lady on the Commission has never, to my knowledge, even spoken a word at the meetings, except to vote like the rest of them vote. Come on, lady, do your job you were elected to do--do something at least!

    Something's not right here, folks.

  10. As she has stated before at the meetings, Mrs. Kent is there simply trying to help her brother and his wife protect their two National Historic Register properties which will be harmed by this mega-development coming just feet from their property line.

Truthfully, she'd rather be on a trip to Europe!

  11. 10:03 a.m.--the developer is a forfeited LLC by the name of "Porter Mill Road Properties, LLC"--a land flip occurred a short while ago for $10million from the original LLC (get this, the name of these two LLC's is different only by one word--very cagey!)

The principals (if that's what you want to call them) are dudes by the name of Jamie and Richard. Don't know their last names because Hebron leaders just refer to them by their first names. Jamie and Richard drive to every meeting from wherever they live in Wilmington or wherever they come from. But....to Hooper, they're not "outsiders"; only those citizens who live across the Hebron town limits are "outsiders" to him!

  12. Where are the Wicomico Environmental Trust, Chesapeake Bay Foundation and Tom Horton, King Burdette and Mike Pretyl when we really need them?

  13. 10:52 a.m. Sometimes it just takes a woman to get things done!

And that attorney from across the Bay (what do you think Hebron taxpayers are paying for him?)has tried to slam her before. He's not got game.

Hebron is becoming more of a joke every day--they do it to themselves.

  14. Hi, somebody told me to look here to see what was up! Just chiming in to say that I have great respect for the craft of the legal professional (some attorneys are even my friends)so Tony Gorski and Steve Cox are doing their job for their client, the Town of Hebron.

Likewise, it is the job and right of citizens to speak up and, if they have legal standing, to challenge in Court by a request for judicial review. I, in trying to help my brother and his wife protect their National Register properties, have attempted to persuade Hebron to work toward a resolution that will avert legal expense to the Town taxpayers in any challenge to the zoning. It appears we have been unsuccessful in that regard. I feel especially sorry that this has not been accomplished because the people of Hebron spoke eloquently at public hearings expressing their distaste for this huge project but it appears it will go forward.

It is also interesting that last night the attorney put forward that even though Hebron Planning had recommended a slight reduction in units and commercial space, those reductions will not be something the Commissioners will include in their recommendations. The higher numbers will be utilized.

I hope that Hebron taxpayers will contact Town Hall immediately to state their views. It does no good to talk about planning after the plans are approved.

    Thank you.
    Hat Lady

  15. If they try to put one illegal worker on this site they are going to get protested like their is no tommorow. They want to make money from this then they are going to have to hire legal American workers. Were watching you.

  16. Everyone should make it a point to call Town Hall and find out when the next meeting (where they no doubt will vote on Waller)is scheduled AND THEN SHOW UP. A few cannot carry the load for everyone else.

  17. Developer buffoons!

And those two from Salisbury Mall are probably at the P&Z meeting right now getting yet another extension for their sorry development.

Mrs. Kent, my hat is off to you!

  18. 11:49 --

How about coming to the next meeting and telling the Town Clowns and developer's reps in person -- blog bitchin' does little good.

    Ms. Kent needs your help!

  19. 2:05 I do not live in Hebron, but you could be here quick. Im not blogg btchn, I have seen to many friends from school with businesses for half their lives go under because of this illegal labor, and by illegal labor I am including legal Americans that are not properly liscensed by the state for the work they are performing. I can not vote in Hebron so I dont belive it is my place to attend and voice my opinion. I will how-ever be there protesting if they screw the work force with illegal workers. If it were me I would try to postpone everything until the new commisioners are elected by the people.

  20. Isn't this developer the same guy who has gotten approvals on some residential building to happen in Delmar, DE? Jamie something?
If so, I hope you're watching this Delmar!!!!

  21. I second that comment: "Mrs. Kent (and the Citizens of Hebron) NEED YOUR HELP." Call David Hooper, Ron Ayres, Rick Dwyer (new guy) and that silent Commissioner, Ms. Morris TODAY at Town Hall 410-742-5555. Give 'em a piece of your mind--and you don't have to be Hebronites either as this affects all of us 'natives'!! Call NOW--don't show them any love either.

  22. Heads Up, Everyone: email the Town of Hebron RIGHT NOW: "townofhebron-mdmap@comcast.net". TELL THEM TO SCALE DOWN THE WALLER PROJECT. Help Hebron's voices to be heard; flood the Town with emails. Thanks.

  23. 3:27 is close--The cowboy boots guy is Rostocki and the rocker guy is named DeVizentis or Devincentis or somethin' Italian like that. And the Hebron leadership calls some of us "outsiders"......go figure.

Anyone up for a rally in front of Hebron Town Hall? We could get a snack at the IGA. Let us know who's up for it!

  24. Let's rumble! We're takin' our town back.

  25. That certainly IS the same guy with a project in the works for the Delaware side of Delmar.

Wonder if anyone on Delmar's Town Council will do anything as far as checking into his stuff?!
