Red Net Alert, Please Help Delmar

Dear Joe,

I am writing to ask a favor. My 2 puppies ran off this afternoon about 3 o'clock and they have not come back. They have never been gone this long before and I am worried. Could you post a missing puppies announcement on your website? I have attached pictures of each one. The brown one is Cloe and the black one is Zoey. My phone number is 443 783 6523 and my name is Ella. We live on Allens Mill Road in Delmar, DE and that is where they were last seen. Please help.

They are both lab/routweiller mix, 2 years old although very small and puppy like. Cloe is golden brown with a very small white triangle on her chest. Zoey is black with brown paws and a white patch on her chest. They are sisters. Zoey has brown eyebrows. Neither dog will bite. They both have on red collars, although Cloe pulled the lead right out of the ground so she is either dragging her lead or she has pulled her head out of her collar. Or my biggest fear, she is stuck somewhere. Zoey is about 30lbs. Cloe is smaller, maybe 20lbs. Zoey, the black one is afraid of strangers. Cloe loves everyone.

Thank you.

Does Anyone Have Any Contacts At Home Depot?

Joe,

Thank you for your assistance with the “Bonfire for Brooke”. Many local businesses have donated the services and items necessary to make this a successful event. What we now need is logistics help. Our lot is 2.5 acres but may not hold all of the vehicles. If you could reach out to your readers we need some help contacting Home Depot for additional parking and a couple of minivans to help shuttle attendees. This may not be needed but would be very important if several hundred people decided to attend. Home Depot is the closest parking lot to our location and seems to make the most sense.

Again, thank everyone for assisting with this most worthy cause.

Warm Regards,
Doug Marshall

BARACK DOES BALTIMORE -- WITH INDICTED MAYOR DIXON (?)

Obama inaugural planners say they have not finalized plans for his appearance Saturday in Baltimore, but local officials appear to be planning for a speech in War Memorial Plaza that afternoon.

Shuttles from satellite parking for President-elect Barack Obama's whistle-stop visit to Baltimore will start at 11 a.m. to the plaza, which is in front of City Hall, a Maryland Stadium Authority spokeswoman confirmed.

Details about the visit, including the time and duration, have not been released by the Presidential Inaugural Committee.

If you go: the current forecast is for a high temp. of 29 degrees F.

Brooke Mulford Update

Joe,

I personally read SBY NEWS and Kent and I were very thankful when the miracle story about our little boy Nicholas (who near-drowned in Puerto Rico back in October of 2008) was spread throughout the community using your SBY NEWS blog. We received a lot of support and prayers from people we didn’t even know and that filled our hearts and helped us get through a very difficult time. Thank you!

On that note, I am not sure if you're aware of Brooke Mulford. She's the 4 y/o daughter of Rob and Amy Mulford, owners of Market Street Inn. Brooke was diagnosed with Cancer (Stage 4 Neuroblastoma) a little over a week ago and it's at the Children's Hospital in Philadelphia. The community has been amazing and her dad, Rob, posts a journal about her status on a daily basis. They have some fundraising events coming up this Friday and Sunday and there's a vigil today until 8 pm at Trinity. Below is the link Rob created in case you don't have it.

http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/brookemulford

Please spread the word as we need a miracle! Kent and I experienced a miracle first hand with our little boy Nicholas and we pray for one more for the Mulfords! Miracles DO happen!

Thank you again!

Additionally:

Here are some ways you can show your support for the Mulford family.

Tuesday is the prayer vigil all day for Brooke at Trinity and then everyone is asked to invest in the "Mulford Stimulus Package" and stop by Market Street the first of 2 "Brooke Days" to see your friends.

Doug Marshall, of Marshall Auctions and The Porter-Marshall Group, he has decided to hold an immediate event to assist Brooke financially. Doug has asked me to announce that he is inviting everyone to come out this Friday to his new office and take part in "A Bonfire for Brooke".

Doug will be making arrangements this week to have a tent, a bonfire, some good eats and a wine tasting. All we ask is that everyone brings some type of cash donation to Brooke. This will be a grass roots effort without any formal advertising so be sure to copy/paste/forward this message to anyone that may want to come. Festivities will run from 4:30pm until. We also are inviting anyone that wants to prepare a dish
or donate food to do so.

What: A Bonfire for Brooke
Where: 2825 N. Salisbury Blvd, Salisbury, MD 21801
When: Friday, Jan 16 4:30pm - until

On Sunday January 18, in conjunction with the 2nd "Brooke Day at MSI", created by
Bank of Delmarva and Sysco, Tina Tomczyk and Steve Grant, of Credit Plus in Salisbury, are organizing a "Walk for Brooke" For more information on the walk please call Tina at 443.783.9095. Along with the following:

On Sunday January 18th, the Bank of Delmarva in concert with Sysco & many others will be hosting "Brooke's Day" at Market Street Inn. Lunch will begin at 11am and will be served to 4pm. Dinner will start at 4 and be served until 11pm.

The specials for the day will be a sample of Brooke's favorite dishes: salmon, filet mignon with chocolate demi-glace, seared scallops and of course Chef Joel's now famous crab & lobster soup. Ice cream will be free to all children all day long.

Everyone is invited to come show your support for Brooke and Amy and Rob.

Stop by for lunch, dinner or a drink & appetizer on "Brooke's Day" & be sure to sign the giant banner which will be sent to the Mulfords in Philadelphia.

It goes into detail about this 'historical event' (their words) of BHO being the first black President, how noteworthy it was that a black man is being sworn in the day after King's birthday, how significant it is that it will include the Lincoln Memorial and how the theme will be 'A New Birth of Freedom'!

Yes, they've studied and been tested on this twice ALREADY this week. This should give everyone a hint of what awaits the kids in school next Tuesday!"

Ocean City Police Department Press Release

OCEAN CITY POLICE INVITED TO ASSIT DURING
PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATION

The Ocean City Police Department was recently invited to assist during the historic 56th Presidential Inauguration on January 20, 2009 in Washington, DC. Ten members of the Ocean City Police Department, and two members of the Fire Marshal’s office, will join nearly 4,000 law enforcement agencies from across the country to help with an expected Inauguration Day crowd of more than 1 million people.

Ocean City Police participants will be deputized by the U.S. Marshals on January 19, 2009, to support specifically designated National Security Special Events on January 20th, including the inauguration, the parade and the official inaugural balls. The Ocean City Police Department will be assigned to a specific area Pennsylvania Avenue for the Presidential Inaugural Parade.

In addition, Chief Bernadette DiPino was asked as the President of the Maryland Chiefs of Police Association to represent the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics by walking in the parade. The Maryland Torch Run has contributed nearly $6 million to Special Olympics athletes in Maryland since its inception in 1986. Chief DiPino will also be joined by her daughter Tabitha, a police officer for the Baltimore County Police Department, and will appear second during the parade sequence.

“It is a huge professional honor for our department to be chosen to participate in the Presidential Inaugural Parade,” commented Chief DiPino. “Not to mention the enormous personal honor it is for me to represent the Maryland Chiefs of Police and the Special Olympics.”

BREAKING NEWS! WHAT'S ANOTHER TWO MONTHS, RIGHT?

Put your seat belt back on Barrie because no sooner was I getting excited about going one on one with you in Court, the Courts have once again cancelled our court date and it looks like it will be delayed until some time in March.

MAN, WE WERE THIS CLOSE!!!! I DON'T MEAN THIS CLOSE, I MEAN, THIS CLOSE!!!!! LIKE I SAID, WHAT'S ANOTHER TWO MONTHS.

Mayor Tilghman & John Pick Not So LGIT

It was at a December Council Meeting where Mayor Barrie Tilghman and John Pick were holding up a polished award from LGIT, (an insurance group for municipalities). They gave out this award based on no legal action/claims against the City of Salisbury.

Mayor Tilghman and John Pick were fawning over that award like it was made of gold! So, that being said, didn't they know about the Police Brutality Lawsuit against the City at that time? (the one that Council was not made aware of)

Once again the Mayor boasts about something that wasn't true and takes credit where credit wasn't due. You've just got to love that PAC 14 though, eh? I mean, if she says it on TV, it's got to be right, right?

Do YOU Want To Voice Your Opinion With The BOE Referencing The Inauguration?

OK, we have been on this topic for days and we have heard from a lot of people. Here's the deal. TONIGHT at 7:00 PM SHARP, the BOE on Mt. Hermon Road will have a Public Meeting. PUBLIC COMMENTS are at the beginning of that meeting, so you must be there by 7:00 PM SHARP!

That being said, don't get too frustrated when they don't respond to your statements and or questions as they run this meeting similar to the City Council Meeting where they'll get back to you on an answer.

The most important thing, (IMHO) is to be heard. Now, IF you want these kind of things to continue and you're more the type who has nothing but hot air, don't go to the meeting. However, IF you want things like this to change, you need to do what we did, (the Dirty Dozen) and go to these meetings and voice your opinions FOR YOUR CHILDREN! YOU are their voice!

Let's see how many people show up tonight.

Tim Chaney Announces His Candidacy For District 1 Council Seat

Tim Chaney, 51, a resident of Franklin Avenue and frequent attendee at Salisbury City Council meetings, filed this morning as a candidate for the District 1 council seat. District 1 includes parts of West Salisbury, Chaney’s area, and a stretch from Downtown through northern Camden.

Chaney, who helped start the Presidents Neighborhood Association and currently serves as its treasurer, said crime reduction, improving struggling neighborhoods, addressing housing problems and better spending priorities are his core issues for this campaign.

“Most of all, District 1 needs to be heard and to have a voice that speaks for everyday people,” Chaney said.

“In a way, I’ve been speaking up for District 1 people for a long time at council meetings,” added Chaney, who works as a kitchen supervisor and chef at an assisted living residence. The native of Baltimore moved to Salisbury as a youth in 1969 and graduated from Wicomico Senior High School in 1976.

Chaney feels too much emphasis has been placed on new developments, lofty projects and special interests while neighborhoods like his and others in District 1 suffer.

“I’m just a resident who knows what it means to work for a living, struggle against hard times, and want something better for our children,” Chaney stated. “I don’t have children myself, but I worry about them. They’re our future,” he said.

His campaign treasurer is Shirley M. Dashiell, a lifelong Wicomico County resident and well-known Westside volunteer.

District 1’s low voter turnout and lack of citizen participation with government also concern Chaney, who said that he hopes his candidacy will encourage more people to get involved. He said that, in just the short time his neighborhood association has existed, people working together have made some small changes for the better.

“Our district has people of many colors and backgrounds. I think that’s a strength,” Chaney said.

Authority: Tim Chaney for District One, Shirley M. Dashiell, Treasurer

UPDATE: Joe I saw a few questions about donations. I should have my PO box address tomorrow and checks should be written out to "Tim Chaney for District One." Thanks to everyone, I look forward to meeting as many people as possible. Let's work together for open government. Thanks again.......Tim Chaney

RECORD BREAKING DAY!!!!!

Ladies & Gentlemen, yesterday was by far the BIGGEST day Salisbury News has EVER experienced. The difference between yesterday and the next closest thing to a record way was enormous! I'm talking THOUSANDS!

The Barrie Tilghman story was just over the top and I can assure you, if someone didn't know who we are out there, THEY DO NOW! So WELCOME to Salisbury News and thank you for coming by. As many will tell you, we bring out the very best in politicians and our views as to what we think is going on locally.

By the way. Every single one of you is invited to come to the Court House on January 21st 2009 and watch Barrie Tilghman vs. Joe Albero. I will update everyone on the time and Court House. Wait till you see the petty questions they'll be asking me. It's truly unbelievable. I personally think, after seeing PAC14 last night, Barrie Tilghman needs some serious help. Writing down names and her paranoia is just unbelievable. I sure do hope my case with her hasn't, well, you know, as John Robinson would say, Coo, Coo. Coo, Coo! Hang in there Barrie, there's only 97 bottles of beer on the wall, 97 bottles of beer..........

P.S., Can you do something else really stupid again Barrie so we can draw in even more people? Thanking You In Advance, Joe

Another Letter To The Editor

"Joe:

I know this is not the post but I know you will want to know about this:Mnany Teachers are upset about what is comming down on the 20th we are as pissed as anyone believe me. But as teachers if we say ANYTHING against this we know what will happen to us. Margo Handy is a angry black woman who looks for reasons to hassle white teachers, I speak from experience here, not hearsay. I have seen no flat screens or special cable but we are encouraged to make this a day long event some lazy ones are making it into two days! We have exams comming up HSA'a are being thrust down our throats and don't be fooled by bridges it is a joke. So to all of your loyal readers there are a few TEACHERS who are just consumed by this event, but the majority are pissed off but will follow orders so as not to be harrassed by Margo herself. As a teacher I am pissed off, and burned out by the fights, the gangs and this! When will the Super, make a change when will he give us a safe place to work, when will he make our schools a place of learning again. Tom Field did a excellent job especially with the mess Dr. Charlene Cooper Boston PHD left him. But what have we got now? Unimpressed. "

Will The Daily Times Become A One Man Show Like SBYNEWS?

I received information recently from a local business owner outraged at recent business decisions from the Daily Times.

It turns out, this company advertises DAILY and has been paying a package price for such classified ads that run every day for a set price for the month.

Out of nowhere recently this business had realized that although they were PAYING for ads to run every day, there simply weren't any classified ads at all on some days so they called the Daily Times and asked what was going on. The Daily Times responded: "THEY ARE NO LONGER RUNNING CLASSIFIED ADS ON MONDAYS AND TUESDAYS!."

Allegedly no one ever called them or sent written communication regarding this change. They were also told that the package price will NOT decrease but since they are not running them 2 days per week, the price will not go up either (like that makes them feel any better).

The Daily Times is clearly in trouble and to see them cut their bread and butter, (the Classified Ads) while still charging the same rates shows yet another few steps removed from their ladder and soon enough they won't be able to go up or down. What's even worse is the fact that while some companies totally depend on the Classified Ads, this will hurt those businesses as well and they'll be looking for another resource to advertise with.

It looks like Salisbury News is getting closer and closer to putting that final nail in their coffin very soon and the One Man Show will have taken down the local Giant. Either that or they will reduce their Staff down to a select few and do what they can to pay their overhead and survive?

I don't care what anyone says, one small Blog has put a serious hurting on Gannett and I think it's time to seal the deal and put them out of their misery.

Bob Caldwell Announces His Candidacy For Mayor Of Salisbury

I am pleased to announce my candidacy for the office of Mayor of Salisbury.

In the past, this City has overcome several major challenges, including two historic fires that threatened the town’s very existence. Salisbury not only survived, but emerged much stronger, and it became a bigger and better town. That success was due to the strength of character of the citizens, and to the quality of leadership

In recent years, however, things have changed. We have experienced large tax increases and much higher fees and charges (often with no warning) while our infrastructure has deteriorated and become overburdened. City government operates with little public discussion or input, despite the promises of “transparency”. Periodic proclamations of “lower crime” and “sound financial health” are seen as political posturing. To put it plainly - - new leadership is needed

And now we face another significant challenge. This time, it is not caused by fire or other natural disasters but by a severely damaged economy. The city will have less tax revenue, increased demands for service, and a probable reduction in cash flow from funds other than real estate taxes. It will take the combined efforts of Salisbury’s excellent employees, a dedicated City Council, and a strong leader to guide the city through very troubled waters..

I am prepared to be that leader. My background and my history make me uniquely qualified to assume the position of Mayor. I have been actively involved in many volunteer projects benefiting the community. I have been a member of City Council, and served as its president. During my time on Council, we addressed significant issues, including election reform and city agency realignment, and we created and passed Salisbury’s first rental property registration ordinance. In both elected and volunteer capacity, I have been able to bring people together. “Together” is the only way we will survive and thrive in the coming economic storm.

The leadership of an organization determines the tone of an organization. Under my leadership, the City of Salisbury will once again have an open government, marked by a return to civility on all levels.

If the citizens of Salisbury grant me the privilege to serve as their Mayor, they can be assured that I will work hard, and I will work smart. I am prepared for the challenges, and am confident that by confronting issues with Rational Thought, Experience, and Common Sense, I will effectively lead Salisbury for the next four years.

A Letter To The Editor About Inauguration

"Special assignments, dress codes, mock ceremonies specific to this inauguration in our schools! What is this crap? Why do our teachers now have to supply principals with lesson plans for the inauguration to prove that they are participating and "on board" with this mandate? Why not have the same expectation for daily classroom assignments to see if they are doing what they are suppose to do. Because you don't care that's why. All you care about is force feeding this inauguration down the throats of my/our children and it is unacceptable. You want to make sure they don't forget it. You don't have to worry about that because the President Elect will make sure it is remembered as our children will be forced to live with things that his decisions will have made whether they be good or bad. They haven't done this for any white Presidents. Why do my/our children have to dress for this "historical occasion"? Why can our children now be exposed to politics in school when religion has been cast out for some time? Why can Margo Handy be allowed to do this and we let it happen?

Why wasn't Bush or Clinton given the same respect. I can tell you why, because this inauguration is the only one viewed as "historical" in her eyes. She is allowing her ethnic background and personal prejudice run our schools. All elections should be and are "historical" not just one when a African American (I guess he is, we don't know who he is or if he even has a birthday) is inaugurated. At least she is on board now and sees inaugurations as historical. Will it last four years? Time will tell.

Why are teachers being put through this crap and not teaching our kids something that matters. Obama is not GOD, he is not the Pope, we don't know who he is and our kids should not be forced to sit through and view anything that has been driven by ethnics or personal preferences.

The B.O.E has blocked access to these blogs and I ask why is that?

I say we have someone in the B.O.E abusing power, forcing political and ethnic related topics in the classroom and for that she should be terminated."

A Letter To The Editor

Mr. Albero:

I am not looking to have my actual email posted, or my name - I am just making a suggestion -

That paper you hate has an article posted about the old Boulevard Theater -
http://www.delmarvanow.com/article/20090112/NEWS01/90112007

I took particular note of two things -

1) They plan to donate the money from auctioned contents back to the Salisbury-Wicomico Arts Council - which is the organization (though granted, under different leadership) that let it deteriorate in the first place. They also sold the property to Moore in the first place.

2) That after the demolition, "Moore’s original intention for the property was to develop it into a mixed-use commercial and residential space, similar to his work on the old Manhattan Shirt Factory, which is now Manhattan Square Lofts and Condominiums. But Moore said due to the market, he isn’t sure what might pop up there or when and if the option remains open for another developer to come in."
I wonder what your readers would think about possible uses for the space, since there has been a lot of talk about the downtown area on your blog.

CARDIN BACKS BAILOUT OF US AUTO INDUSTRY

From the Office of Ben Cardin

Thank you for contacting me about ongoing efforts in Congress to aid the ailing U.S. automotive industry .

Although the decline in the U.S. market share held by General Motors, Chrysler and Ford began many years ago, several additional factors, including the spike in gasoline prices last summer and the constriction of credit resulting from the global financial crisis, have brought the industry to the verge of bankruptcy. At jeopardy are thousands of jobs in assembly plants, parts manufacturers and suppliers, repair shops, and dealerships, as well as significant revenues for local governments and other industries such as advertising. The Center for Automotive Research has estimated that the automotive industry directly employs more than 30,000 workers in Maryland , and approximately 80 percent of those jobs are at new car dealerships.

Having weighed the consequences of inaction, I firmly believe that the federal government must provide the assistance necessary to help the automotive industry not only survive, but also recover and thrive in the coming years.

On November 17, 2008, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid introduced S. 3688, legislation to provide the companies with loans of up to $25 billion. These funds would have come from the $700 billion already authorized by Congress in the Troubled Asset Relief Program passed by Congress as part of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008. Because that bill did not garner sufficient bipartisan support to move forward, the auto industry leaders were instructed to present to Congress specific restructuring plans detailing how taxpayers' funds would be used to ensure their companies' long term viability.

Drawing upon the companies' testimony and recommendations presented in early December, the House passe d H.R. 7321, the Auto Industry F inancing and Restructuring Act, which would have provided up to a $14 billion line of credit to General Motors, Chrysler, and Ford to help them continue to operate in the near term. The bill would use funds that have already been allocated for auto companies from Section 136 of the Energy Independence and Security Act.

In order to be eligible for any taxpayer-backed assistance, the companies would be required to adhere to rigorous terms and conditions, including; being required t o pay interest at rates profitable to the U.S. government; being prohibited from paying bonuses or "golden parachutes" to their top executives; being prohibited from paying dividends on common stock; and, being required to provide warrants to the government, ensuring that taxpayers will benefit from any future growth the companies might experience. In addition, they would have to devise a long-term strategy by March 31, 2009 to repay American taxpayers, to become competitive internationally, to return the company to profitability, to streamline costs, and to produce advanced technology vehicles and new products.

On December 11, I voted with a majority of the Senate to move forward with consideration of H.R. 7321, but unfortunately , the required 60-vote threshold was not met, and the legislative season ended without passage of this bill.

In the final days of 2008, the Administration took steps within its authority under TARP to rescue the vital industry. On December 19 , President Bush announced a plan that would give General Motors and Chrysler $17.4 billion. The plan called for an immediate infusion of $13.4 billion in emergency loans from the Treasury Department's financial system rescue fund, with another $4 billion to be provided in February to General Motors if the remainder of the bail out funds are released. President Bush also set a date of March 31, 2009 for the companies to make sweeping changes, and said that the loans would be called at that point if the Obama Administration did not consider the companies to be on a path to profitability.

As the 111 th Congress begins working with the new Administration to bolster the American economy, please be assured that I will continue to support efforts to aid the U.S. auto industry and its workers. Thank you for contacting me with your views on this matter.

Beazer's Opinion:

Okay folks. . . there you have it. My question to you is what has happened to this Country? Did our citizenry forget why we fled Socialist England from the outset?

And what about the bailout for the Barbers, Beauticians, Morticians, Carpenters, Electricians . . .and yes let us not forget about even the toilet paper manufacturers. One would think that 'What's good for the goose should be good for the gander.' Talk about Discrimination!

Where is our Supreme Court? What has happened to very fabric, foundation, and guiding principles that formed this nation. Why is it that GM, Chrysler, and Ford should have dominion on US assets that we are suppose to share equally. Talk about Equality!

What else can I say. . . is there not any minutemen left in this nation to oust such scoundrels as the one noted above?

What a sad state of affairs in what can be classified as one of Americas darkest days.

BART Cop Kills Un-Armed Man Laying Face Down!

Martial Law has come to California, and it citizens have no recourse.
On New Years Day at about 2:30 am the BART train coming in from San Francisco where many had been to see the fire works display was pretty full.
At some point a scuffle broke out between a group of friends. The security system is in the tunnel is pretty sophisticated, and cops met the train at the next stop know as Fruitvale, Ca. Three men were pointed out by the officers and asked to step off . Once off they were told to sit on the ground, according to the video on scene they complied.
One of the men who was seated in the middle was saying something to the cops and was abruptly thrown down on his stomach and handcuffed.
During the entire time the passengers on the train had full view of the events transpiring and many of them had cell phones that were recording the whole thing.

After the man was handcuffed there was a lot of yelling coming from the passengers and the cops were trying to get control over them as well, when for no apparent reason the officer who assisted in the cuffing pulled out his firearm and shot the man dead.

Passengers with cell phones that videoed the indecent were asked to hand over their phones but none complied. If you YouTube 'BART Cop Shoots un armed man' you can watch dozens of different angles from dozens of phones that were there that night.

According to one report I was reading, a very interesting thing happened over last few years... President Bush wanting to fortify Homeland Security made a couple of very unusual hires for top level positions.

On March 17, 2003 Bush hired "the former head of the KGB (the secret police of the former Soviet Union), General Yevgeni Primakov," as a consultant to the US Department of Homeland Security.

Primakov joined another Russian, Oleg Kalugin, KGB (Ret) with the Department of State Security, also as a part of Homeland Security.
On January 1, 2005 Kalugin was replaced with the infamous and sinister Silver Fox himself (his former CIA code name), Gen. Markus Wolf. "Wolf was the head of the international intelligence gathering arm (HVA) of East Germany's Ministry for State Security, or Stasi."
This went a long way toward perfecting the spying and wiretapping of the entire USA, and insured that Americans would become the next victims of State Terrorism ala the USSR and Communist East Germany."
Jim Kirwin 1-12-09 of Rense.com ... Before the creation of the Department of Homeland Security, there were clear procedures in place for peace officers to follow in the execution of their duties. No officer was allowed to become judge, jury and executioner; much less without first arresting the individual that might be suspected of a crime. Also, when a murder was committed, and witnessed, an arrest warrant was issued: there was simply no-way that a suspected murderer would or could be given an option as to whether or not he or she would answer questions. The accused had to be offered the services of an attorney, but the police always had the right to arrest the person with the weapon, after that weapon had been shown to be the murder weapon.
Why is no one but the family and friends of this man outraged? Why did the hundreds of people on the train run for their lives from four officers and not run to the officers and demand that they arrest this officer?

What has happened to our country that we are afraid of the people who we pay to protect us and then we are afraid of them when we do nothing wrong? All is not well in Lala Land.

When in England , at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of empire building' by George Bush.

He answered by saying, 'Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders . The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those that did not return.'

There was a conference in France where a number of international engineers were taking part, including French and American. During a break, one of the French engineers came back into the room saying 'Have you heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has done? He has sent an aircraft carrier to Indonesia to help the tsunami victims. What does he intended to do, bomb them?'

A Boeing engineer stood up and replied quietly: 'Our carriers have three hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they are nuclear powered and can supply emergency electrical power to shore facilities; they have three cafeterias with the capacity to feed 3,000 people three meals a day, they can produce several thousand gallons of fresh water from sea water each day, and they carry half a dozen helicopters for use in transporting victims and injured to and from! their flight deck. We have eleven such ships; how many does France have?'

A U.S. Navy Admiral was attending a naval conference that included Admirals from the U.S. , English, Canadian, Australian and French Navies. At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a large group of Officers that included personnel from most of those countries. Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks but a French admiral suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans learn many
languages, Americans learn only English.' He then asked, 'Why is it that we always have to speak English in these conferences rather than speaking
French?'

Without hesitating, the American Admiral replied 'Maybe it's because the Brits, Canadians, Aussies and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't have to speak German.'

AND THIS STORY FITS RIGHT IN WITH THE ABOVE...

Robert Whiting, an elderly gentleman of 83, arrived in Paris by plane. At French Customs, he took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carry-on. 'You have been to France before, monsieur?' the customs officer asked sarcastically. Mr. Whiting admitted that he had been to France previously. Then you should know enough to have your passport ready.' The American said, ''The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it. 'Impossible. Americans always have to show your passports on arrival in France !'

The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietly explained, ''Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in 1944 to help liberate this country, I couldn't find a single Frenchmen to show a passport to.'

You could have heard a pin drop.

Obituary of the New Year

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.

He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
Knowing when to come in out of the rain; Why the early bird gets the worm; Life isn't always fair; and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well- intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an Aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault. Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason. He is survived only by his 4 stepbrothers; I Know My Rights, I Want It Now, Someone Else Is To Blame, and I'm A Victim.

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, tell others about him. If not, join the majority and do nothing.

Valuable Information On HTTP vs HTTPS

The main difference between http:// and https:// is It's all about keeping you secure

HTTP stands for Hypertext Transport Protocol, which is just a fancy way of saying it's a protocol (a language, in a manner of speaking) for information to be passed back and forth between web servers and clients.

The important thing is the letter S which makes the difference between HTTP and HTTPS.
The S (big surprise) stands for "Secure".

If you visit a website or webpage, and look at the address in the web browser, it will likely begin with the following: http://.

This means that the website is talking to your browser using the regular 'unsecured language. In other words, it is possible for someone to "eavesdrop" on your computer's conversation with the website. If you fill out a form on the website, someone might see the informa tion you send to that site.

This is why you never ever enter your credit card number in an http website!

But if the web address begins with https://, that basically means your computer is talking to the website in a secure code that no one can eavesdrop on.

You understand why this is so important, right?

If a website ever asks you to enter your credit card information, you should automatically look to see if the web address begins with https://.

If it doesn't, you should not enter sensitive information like a credit card number.
