It was at a December Council Meeting where Mayor Barrie Tilghman and John Pick were holding up a polished award from LGIT, (an insurance group for municipalities). They gave out this award based on no legal action/claims against the City of Salisbury.
Mayor Tilghman and John Pick were fawning over that award like it was made of gold! So, that being said, didn't they know about the Police Brutality Lawsuit against the City at that time? (the one that Council was not made aware of)
Once again the Mayor boasts about something that wasn't true and takes credit where credit wasn't due. You've just got to love that PAC 14 though, eh? I mean, if she says it on TV, it's got to be right, right?
I know I was not dreaming when I saw Barrie and Pick take so much credit for getting that award. I'd like to know exactly what the words were that Barrie said that night last month at the meeting.
ReplyDeleteAnd what do Council members think now of the illustrious Barrie--Louise, weren't you all about transparency in government? Yea, that's what I thought....
I got rit of cable because the county is taking money Comcast and giving it to Pac 14.
ReplyDeleteLGIT stands for Local Government Insurance Trust and they do insure municipalities. The award was given for timely reporting of incidents and improved safety practices.
ReplyDeleteThe City has improved greatly in recent years with fewer mishaps and accidents. A great deal of emphasis has been placed on safe driving practices. I can't speak for the other City agencies, but the FD is much safer today. The SFD has operational guidelines and an accident review board to aid in accident prevention. Its not perfect, but it is much improved from the past.
This improvement translates into a cost savings to the taxpayers of the City. I believe the current lawsuit is in no way involved with LGIT. That should be a matter for the Civil Court system.
I think she learned that TV makes it true by watching Bush and Cheney talk about Iraq and 9/11 together until people actually believed they were related.
ReplyDeleteWhy should anyone receive an award
ReplyDeletefor not getting into trouble. This
is just plain stupid. Next thing you know they will be giving awards
for not smoking crack. Marion Barry
Tilghman , you are long gone !
The city is being represented by LGIT attorneys...according to the Daily Crime.
ReplyDeleteTypically, when a lawsuit is filed against the city, the mayor or city administrator, it is served with legal documents that are forwarded to the Local Government Insurance Trust, which has an attorney handle the case, Pick said.
ReplyDeleteCouncil members are usually notified early on about a lawsuit, Pick said.
"We normally do, but in this case we didn't," Pick said. "It was a mistake."
Normally, they notify the council but lets be honest here, John Pick and Barrie didn't want Terry and Debbie questioning their golden boy chief Webster about any of this. Especially after the way Barrie Tilghman went after Hunter Nelms and the boot camp.
What goes around, comes around eh Barrie and John? How does it feel?
Joe:
ReplyDeleteI happened to overhear what Barrie said about you being invited to attend that "celebrity waiter" luncheon a couple weeks ago, but it can't be quoted here under your new rule about curse words! And besides that, it's not something that I would write anyway. She has about the filthiest mouth in Salisbury.
Keep up the good work - thanks in advance.
And, Now, Some Good News:
ReplyDeleteBOB CALDWELL IS RUNNING FOR MAYOR!
It was left out, of course, that Barrie is/was the president of LGIT.
ReplyDeleteLGIT better get ready for some suits against the city after Barrie leaves City Hall, especially if Bubba Comegys does not become "R Necks Mare".
ReplyDeleteanonymous 1:10,
ReplyDeleteYeah, people have been telling me she said, WHAT THE "F" IS HE DOING HERE.
How many bottles of beer left on the wall? Then end can't come soon enough. We should throw BPT a going away party.
ReplyDeleteBarrie's foul language is known by all. Anybody else experienced it?
ReplyDeleteTheres still alot of unanswered questions about this lawsuit. The DT article said that the man suing them was never convicted but they do not go into detail at all.Anyone else know the "real" story?
ReplyDeleteBryan Records, the point here is that Barrie and Pick were making a huge deal out of this award while withholding info about this huge lawsuit from the council.
ReplyDeleteI don't bash everything Barrie's done. But she has no sense of propriety about things like this...and other things.

Reminds me of a story some colleagues from Baltimore County told me about one of Barrie P. Tilghmans department heads, Stephen K. Brezler to be the city fire chief. After Brezler left Baltimore County the firefighter gave him a going away party, but they didn't invite him.
Who is up for throwing BPT a going away party?
I'm telling you a dance on the plaza! I do mean really! Not because it was one of Jim's top 10 either, we just should do it.
ReplyDeleteInstead of a going away party we can call it a throwing away party ; )
ReplyDeleteYou know what? It's time to get the States Attornies Office in here before things start disappearing.
ReplyDeleteBefore this lawsuit it may have been hearsay or speculation however this is totally different. It's time to start an investagation and remove records from the finance department and have them siezed as evidence.
They have the software to stay working, but let's see things as they really and have been up to this point.
Wasn't the lawsuit filed in November? They just forgot? Oh good job write yourself a check while your at it.
Barrie is backing Gary that should stick a fork in him with the baggage her and the chief are carrying.
ReplyDeleteDang shame most of the city council had to hear about this the same way as the citizens, in the paper.
