  5. Joe,

Maybe we should all start getting "amber alert" type messages on our phones when these crimes occur, that way we can all keep our eyes peeled the moment these things happen. I don't know, maybe it is a dumb idea, but it seems the police are always a step behind and can't be everywhere, may if we had the info, we could be helpful in stopping these armed robberies. As a citizen, i feel helpless, maybe we can all put our heads together and work on some solutions...the police apparently need some help!

  7. ahhhhhh, life in wonderful Salisbury - the "crossroads of Delmarva". Daily assaults on students, daily B & E's all over the CSAFE areas, business as well as banks targeted daily (and nightly) for ARMED robbery (just a matter of time before we have a California style AK47 shootout), bums and homeless people running amok, tons and tons of illegal aliens draining TAXPAYER supported resources.

And on the other side we have a worthless girlyman mayor who was born with no ba--s or never learned how to use the one he has. We have a uncaring, incompetent chief of police from out of the area who openly defies the boy-mayor to fire him. We have an inept, worthless council majority who can't speak the king's english, can't understand legislation, and don't understand how compromise and working together can actually help Salibury. We have a red-neck dominated fire department that, while consisting of wonderful rank and file members, is led by paranoid, vengeful, illiterates who still "hope" for fires and accidents so they can see "some action".

We have a community dominated by section 8 renters, slumlord renters in delapidated houses, and some rich-boy college students who are so ignorant that walk about at 4:00 AM in the morning with a big sign on them saying "rob me, rob me".

Most sadly you have an uncaring community that refuses to rise up and say enough is enough.

Salisbury, you are a worthless piece of dung that I will never patronize again, that I will never live in again, that I will never advocate again, and I will never say anything nice again.

Get rid of the chief, get rid of the stupid mayor, and get rid of those a--holes in the fire department and I might think about changing my mind.

sign me - "I am mad as hell and I am not going to take it anymore"

  8. I don't live in Salisbury but instead in the county. However, I am fearful when I stop to pump gasoline inside the city limits or walk from my truck to the grocery store. This is just ridiculous. I'm not an older person but instead a middle aged citizen and expect more from "the hub of Delmarva". It is becoming more apparent that the municipalities need to become a part of the county and have only one county police force. Something has to be done to clean up this horrible problem inside of Salisbury.

  9. Well stated 12:38!
Barney & Andy could handle this town better.

  10. I too am afraid to go out to even pump gas. Crime is on the rise and I no longer feel safe in Salisbury. This is not an adverse statement against our law enforcement, but rather a plea for more help for them to protect us.

It's a shame you had to be a 1/2 world and a war away to hear this. You guys/gals are doing a great job.

  14. 1:07 I moved out years ago. This did not sneak up on us. Its been going on for YEARS. Only through blogsites such as this is the public even aware of such goings on and it has been official policy by SPD to sweep things under the "publicity rug" for years

  19. A local told me, "But around here, I can take my kids into town without having them see hookers on every street corner, run-down apartment buildings, homeless people approaching vehicles begging for money to support their drug habits! Yes, although the shore isn't perfect, this is God's Country and if you don't like, then simply leave. Your kind isn't wanted around here.

This is too funny. 2 bank robberies in one day. Yep it sure is Gods Country around here. Thats some good Kool-aid you got there.

  20. They got so mad they din't get any money they ran out and threw trash in the river to make the mayor mad

  21. If the robbers are caught I'm fearful that most of the charges will not be prosecuted. When will our local courts and d/a's give criminals hard time. Bring back the chain gangs and pink jump suits for convicts.

  22. A bank in Delmar was just robbed. White male blue sweat jacket green t-shirt, some kind of cap. Seen west bound on foot down state street.

  23. 2:27 - to make it even worse, I read an article today that said they are trying to think of ways to let people out early. (not a local news source - but the feel was, everywhere is going to be doing this)

And the answer to your question is, never. Or at least, not until something happens to one of their own family members. As far as I am aware, judges cannot be voted out of office or recalled, so we have no leverage to force them to do their jobs.

  24. Where is Elliot Ness when you need him?

  25. 12:31 Can we bring you home out of Iraq so you can come here and kick some serious ASS around here? They certainly need it. I would love it if they military would take over protecting Salisbury. You guys and gals would be here about a week and the scum of the earth would start moving out of area. Problem solved. Hey mayor Ireton, was that such freaking hard decision? Thanks to the Men and Women who Serve. You Guys are amazing. Good luck. Stay safe.

  26. if you join nixle.com via the SPD, you get txt messages of community alerts - I got word of two of these 3 robberies via txt within minutes, and was glad, because my kids attend a school nearby that went on lock down.

Thank you. I just joined and sent email to friends and family.

I think everyone should use this. If we are aware of things as they happen, maybe we can see something and notify police.

Maybe this will help catch criminals and slow down the crime spree.

  28. Folks I wore the Brown Uniform in Wic.Wor.an Som. Counties for nearly 28 years. When I hung up my gun several years ago I was dam glad to take it off an leave it off.But never in my wildest dreams would I ever thought I'd see the hometown I've had all my life turn into Tombstone.
I am not going to sit here and demean the Officers of the Salisbury Police Dept. As I served under some of the worst Superiors my Agency could possibly put in a Supervisory capacity and some of the best, at least they were dedicated individuals who had geniune concern for the people we protected and got involved in investigations an directed the course of these investigations to bring them to a successful conclusion and instituted policies and programs specificly targeting the crime ridden areas of the time. Salisbury PD's problems clearly go right to the top.
Sad to say I now carry a gun again, not one but 2,it use to be I'd carry a firearm only at night depending on my travels, now I carry one both day and night, one in a shoulder holster and one in my vehicle/s.The point is I'm never without one.The only advice I could offer is to encourage all duty personnel and retired officers to carry a weapon 24/7. With the tide of crime the way its running in Salisbury its only a matter of time before one of us run into a violent crime of one sort or another. For the citizen out there, if you have the time or inclination take a Certified Firearms Course, apply for and obtain a Handgun Permit.I know some will not agree and thats fine but there are statistics out there which demonstrate lower crime rates when the citizens are armed.Lastly you have two of the most powerful weapons known to man,the power of the pen and the vote.Scrutinize the people very closley your voting for in the next elections, its we the people who run this show and make it clear if they don't work for us their term will end at 1.Its clear the current City and County Government now is lost.It may even be worth the effort to push a movement for a County Police Dept. absorbing the local PD's.I'm no expert in Politics,I'm not qualified to be a Chief of Police but there is one thing I do know unless Law Enforcement redistributes their resourses and get feet on the street, the crime problem is going to get worse, and some innocent will get caught in a crossfire.
Just the ramblings of an old retired cop...........

  29. Folks wake up it is not the chiefs fault, stipid is as stupid does. He has no ties to this community except a pay check, it's time for a County PD with someone who has a vested interest in our community running it. Some body like ML or EL. The pay and the moral for SPD could not be lower.
