Bank Robbery Update

Salisbury Police Department officers are pursuing two suspects alleged to have attempted to rob the Riverside Drive BB&T Bank.

Police were called at 10:41 a.m.

According to police, two black males, wearing black and camouflage masks and clothing, attempted to rob the bank, but did not leave with any currency. Witnesses said at least one suspect brandished a handgun, police said.

The suspects fled on foot toward the Riverside Drive Medical Center and may have since fled in an older model dark blue two-door vehicle, according to police.

  1. Imagine that, 2 black males. I bet they are renters in Salisbury as well. The economy is bad and people need to work, but thank God we are getting a new fire boat!!

Mayor Ireton (and I use that phrase loosely) what would have happened if these thugs used their weapons on gainfully employed innocent victims? Will you rehab them so they can graduate to become captains on the new fireboat?

  3. Anon 1:06 There's reason for complaining about the "fire boat". The town doesn't need it, they need more police....badly. They going to take your ashes for a boat ride when one of these thugs shoots you?

  4. The only reason they want the fire boat is for the boat parade for the rich people to look at spraying water because it's so pretty. You know the Nithsdale trailer park crowd.

  6. excuse me 1pm, but most of the recent bank robbery photos I have seen lately were white. But who cares; don't let that stop you from spewing B.S.

  11. Bank robberies are becoming an every week deal in Salisbury. I drove up on the one at the Twilley Center and now one right down the road from where I work. This is getting bad.

  15. I don't know if anybody has thought of this since the FireBoat grant was awarded, but since the grant is from Homeland Security then wouldn't/shouldn't we be able to redirect those funds to hire more police officers? It makes sense to me-policing is more of a "Homeland Security" expense than a fireboat. I'm just saying, we have crime that we need to combat with more manpower, not a fireboat that isn't really needed. What do you think folks?

  16. I bet if the robbers were to throw a party in the bank the cops would have been there right away! They can bust a party like its noones business, but when it comes to the real isues, like actual crime, then what? no alcohol citations there!

  17. wow why don't people just get a job. Mcdonalds needs people im sure. O wait thats right Mcdonalds won't even hire you when you have a criminal record. But the county jail has plenty of open spots and if they dont im sure the corrections organization has no problem finding a spot for scum of the earth like this. And quit whinning about your boat go buy one yourself if its that serious. The reason we have all this crime going on is from the governments free handouts. Free healthcare, perfect idea lets give an even better incentive that these thugs dont need jobs they can just live for free because "we feel bad for them" i myself, being a hard working person i earn everything i get and its sad to see thats its "gangsta" to go rob a bank. go try that whole gangsta persona in a real city like DC and see how "hard" you are.

  18. 4:15, if you blame crime on welfare, why do plenty of people not on welfare still commit plenty of crime? In fact, rich people commit plenty of crimes. As usual, another half-baked hypothesis. Idealogues are full of them which is why they are usually wrong.

  19. 5:44 PM sounds like someone his a soft spot with you. I bet you regularly get sick from food stamp poisoning. How can you afford the internet while on welfare? Maybe you are using the library computers.

  20. tisk tisk. 10:05, you wonder why less Americans follow your ideaology each year. Because people like you enjoy creating your own perception THEN you actually go look at a few of the facts at which time you skew the facts to support the perception that you have created. Maybe one day you and people like you will develop a logical mind-set.
