Last time I checked, a law like this will not change the ultimate law of the land, the Constitution. Co-sponsoring a normal law isn't going to change diddly-squat. Is this the precursor to a constitutional ammendment?
ReplyDeleteThe 14th Amendment, ratified in 1868, was aimed to ensure citizenship for newly emancipated African-Americans. Certainly not to give citizenship to any baby born on this soil.
ReplyDeleteToday all other developed countries have changed citizenship laws to eliminate the very problems of birthright citizenship.
Kratovil hasn't had the opportunity yet, to ask Pelosi weather he can or cannot be a co-sponsor of the bill. He makes no decisions on his own.

ReplyDeleteIt seems pretty silly to want someone to co-sponsor a bill that pretty cleary would be in direct contravention of the Constitution.
In case you have forgotten, this is what the 14th Amendement says:
Amendment XIV
Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside.
Personally, I think the Constitution is the greatest political document ever written, and when I swore to protect and defend it, I did so with great pride.
