If you get a text with the following message, DON'T SEND IT:
"Amber alert 4 yr old girl from oc taken by a man driving a new silver truck nj plate 72B381. Keep it going so they can find her"
It's a hoax according to OCPD. I have, however, been told by 2 separate sources that it happened in OC, New Jersey. Anyone else know anything about it?
A Google of the tag number reveals that this is quite a popular hoax.

I got it and googled it basically its a text or tweet that goes around and they just plug in the state its cirrulating in.. Stupidity
ReplyDeleteThere should be a law against crap like this. Ever hear of the boy who cried wolf? Things like this make anyone leary of spreading information, whether it be truth or not.

ReplyDeleteThe one I got said Idaho tags
ReplyDeleteI just received this tex!!
ReplyDeleteJust like the stupid email some people feel they must forward.
ReplyDeleteWhen the heading of the email says "Don't delete, important!"
I don't even open it, it just gets deleted.
I received a text message with this Amber Alert. I went to the Amber Alert web site. The New York State Police issued a report about 2 hours ago saying this was a hoax. The alert is going all over the country but uses local towns & cities. All of the alerts seem to include the silver truck and tag number. Please disregard the alert. It is a horrible hoax.
ReplyDeletedon't forward anything on email, text, im, etc. If you have received it, so has everyone else that you know, or soon will be. If you feel it necessary to forward, do a little bit of research on it first, just google a few sentences, go to Snopes, Urban legends, etc. It is a waste of time, waste of money if you are being charged per text, and a waste of space.
ReplyDeleteHye Joe...this may be a hoax but how come your page says nothing about the missing 12 year old from Salisbury?
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, this isn't my Post. Second, I have been away all day and have not been made aware of a 12 year old missing.
ReplyDeleteIF you know so much, why didn't you fill in details about the alleged missing child and back it up with your name so people can trust and believe you, like I do.

ReplyDeleteHave you heard anything about the bad jet ski accident in the bay by the airport? A Facebook friend was there, floating around, when a group of rental jet skis went past, girl hit channel market straight on. Jet ski was in pieces, girl body broke 6 x 6 post.
Can't be good. I didn't see it on WBOC website, or dt.
The Amber Alert system does have a text messaging option if you go online and register your cell number. If you would like to recieve such messages, I suggest you register to get the information first hand and not trust forwards. Very sad.
ReplyDeleteTheres also an Amber Alert out of Va.Beach
ReplyDeleteIt was prob sent by the chick in OC making another statement. "How stupid can I be in one day!"
