It's Over! There's only 7 DAYS LEFT before Barrie Tilghman walks out of the GOB for the very last time as Mayor of Salisbury.
No special positions for Mike Dunn and Michael Day. A new Mayor will step in and re interview just about anyone and everyone.
It sure makes you wonder, what will happen to Paul Wilber? Chief Webster? John Pick? Lore Chambers? Pam Oland? Ron Alessi? Richard Insley?
Will the new Mayor Ireton create a special Hot Line like the County did and give all employees a Free Pass at any wrong doing if they expose many of the questionable things that have been going on over the past 12 years?
If some of the people are in fact replaced, (and many more) who do YOU think might fill those positions? I say it's worth the discussion and guess as to who YOU think might fill those positions best.
Hopefully, PAC 14 has ceased rebroadcast of her farewell address ("My Final Thoughts") -- a classic orgy of self adulation!
ReplyDeleteJoe, You are sure not to agree with me but having experienced something like this personally, I think Ireton should not do a total clean sweep right a way. It is important to have continuity with some of the offices. Chiefy should be gone immediately and put someone in as an acting chief until a decision is made how to handle the crime in Salisbury/Wicomico. But some of the other departments need to be reevaluated and determine by Ireton whether they will be able to adjust to his wishes. Thanks for allowing me to weigh in on this issue.
ReplyDeleteSo, Joe, what are you planning for the Great Barrie Goodbye? Some sort of celebration seems in order.
ReplyDelete10:59 amen. Chiefy has GOT to go.
ReplyDeleteI said, "It sure makes you wonder, what will happen to Paul Wilber? Chief Webster? John Pick? Lore Chambers? Pam Oland? Ron Alessi? Richard Insley?"
ReplyDeleteI didn't say Jim Ireton was going to replace them. The question I believe it a good one though. It's simply asking what do you think would or should be done and your answer is a good one 10:59.
10:59 AM:
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on this one. Ireton must evaluate the performance of each and every one of the department heads and determine what can be salvaged from city administration. Some heads may roll, but if they do, it'll be for good reason, like incompetence, poor leadership, graft,
etc., not just because they worked for a tyrant. I trust him to have a good plan.
I don't see him coming in and doing a clean sweep. I think he will be having some very candid conversations with employees of the City. I also think that the employees who are there need to speak up when asked. The employees are his best resource as far as information is concerned. People also need to remember that this mess that the evil hussy has created is going to take some time to fix. I think Jim will utilize a number of resources. Everyone is going to have to have patience.
ReplyDeleteChiefy isn't the only one who should go right away. Lore Chambers, Pam Oland and Paul Wilber need no further evaluation, they just need to go.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I feel the city attorney position should have a set salary. The city atty. should NOT be coming back to the council for more money. I think the current city atty. should be replaced. It appears he doesn't have enough knowlege to justify all the $ he has sucked out of the system.
ReplyDeletePamela Oland has also not been impressive,IMHO. She should either be demoted or dismissed. I believe the responsibilities of the job have been above her capabilities.
I am interested to see the demeanor of Smith and Comegys tonite.
Nalagirl
So you are saying that Dunn is Done???
ReplyDeleteHave you looked at the Charter? Ireton now has to have a super majority of the full council to fire certain people. That's 4 votes out of 5. Can you really see that happening? Slick move on the part of Barry.
ReplyDeleteMr Ireton's time would be better spent interviewing new people for those positions. Even the deaf and dumb are aware of how these people have a serious lack of moral fiber. All anyone has to do is look at their past performances to know they fall far short of acceptable. They only care about their self-interest....not our city.
ReplyDeletePam Oland has had 4 years to prove herself, she has not so she should go. Bring back Roger Baskerville. A people person he is not but a numbers person he was one of the best.
ReplyDeleteLore Chambers position should be elminated completely, saving the city over $100,000 annually, that could be put to better use.
Paul Wilber needs to go immediately. He has done nothing but cost the city money.
Chief Webster has had 10 years to prove himself. He has failed miserably. Can him immediately.
John Pick has no backbone he's been the mayors flunkie for to long. Time to turn him out to retirement.
Chief See should be fired before retirement. DC Gordy should be fired as well.
Jim should set meetings with department employees for their input. The employees need to have no fear of retaliation from the mayors office. Given a voice he might be surprised what knowledge he gains.
A clean sweep is in order! The city
ReplyDeletehas hit rock bottom and it can only
go up hill from here. I replaced an entire management team and doubled my profit and production in 6 months. Get er done!
10:59 , If you always do , what you've always done , your gonna always get, what you've always got.
The mayor should clean house. It is his right and he has to work with the people. Myabe he can't eliminate them immediately but they can be "encouraged" to "retire."

Will that be in handcuffs?
Shame on you Joe. You owe the citizens and Cheef Webster an apology. Crime is down and has been going down for the last 12 years. Cheef Webster is the best cheef this city has ever had. That is why he gets to live anywhere he wants to.
ReplyDelete2:31 whose crack pipe did you borrow today?
ReplyDeletePUT the Police Chief back in Uniform! That will handle his thinking.
ReplyDeleteShe may be done, but if Webster hasn't already found a new job, he should be very, very sorry he didn't. What a GOOBER.

Uh... it was a joke... lol
Is that Mrs. Doubtfire???
ReplyDeleteJim Ireton can create another position above the current department heads to sideline any department head that dosen't want to go willingly. With finances tight it may be done one department at a time or simply let their contracts run out.
ReplyDelete5:56 - I knew that. It would take a crack addict in real life to make a statement like that. Your spelling gave away your sarcasm.
ReplyDeleteThe Chief doesn't deserve to wear the uniform!
ReplyDelete7:06 PM gets the trophy
