trying to find out where it says anything about taking the land from the farmer looks like what it does though is make the land less valuable if the farmer decides to stop farming and wants to sell his land
Yeah!!The Wicomico Farmers deserve this kind of coverage. Thanks Joe. What a professional video this is. We need to support them. They feed us but most people don't understand that.
If you go to the hen house to get two eggs for breakfast and on the way back into the house you drop one. Well according to Billy McCain using billy bob math 101 you are still OK. Use see you can scrape up the dropped egg with your manure shovel and make an omelet. No Change in Value!
no farmers=no food most property owners wouldnt want someone else telling them what to do with there land...how would they like,on all property... no trees over 10 ft tall,no shrubs and no flowers because people may have an allergy to them......doesnt sound like a good idea huh?
-The last time I checked housing developments didn't provide much food. So, under your logic, allowing developers to concentrate housing on farmland, will create more farmers?
The hidden issue behind this bill is forcing our citizens to pay a higher tax . If lots are going to be sold in 10-15 acre plots in rural area then that is going to force developers and individuals to have to build in a municipality or incorporated towns. Those of you who either own or live within a municipality or incorporated town know the additional tax burden place upon you. In most case your tax burden has double. After you add the additional cost of water and sewer to your expenses you have just about tripled your tax burden. So by allowing this bill to pass you are giving government more control of yours and mind individual rights as property owners. You are limiting future property owners rights as they are being force to pay higher bills to promote bigger government control of your land.
For those of you who say I live in the county and don’t have to worry about those issues. What happens when the municipality or incorporated towns annexes your property and then you are placed with the impact fees of connecting to the water and sewer lines? (Salisbury City is approximately $12,500) And don’t forget the extra tax bill you will have to pay as a result of being a city resident.
I was once told by the executive officer John Pick that it will be beneficial to becoming a city resident for the following reasons:
1. The city has developed a payment plan to spread the cost of connecting to the water and sewer over several years. (my favorite) 2. I will now have city police and fire protection. 3. I will have trash pick up.
Well I apologize in advance but the only advantage I see is I don’t have to take may trash to the dump anymore. I already have police protection through the Sheriff’s office and Maryland State Police. Fire protection is covered by yes our volunteers and depending what area of the county you live in paid firefighters through Salisbury City which is contracted by the county government.
A note to our council members who decide to vote for this bill remember election time is coming and the public it getting tired of new taxes and bigger government that does not listen to the citizens it represents.
The down and dirty of it all is the farmers don't want council or any government telling them what they can and can not do with their land. It is their land, bought and paid for by their blood, sweat and tears. Everything they have is tied up in their land. Corporate employees have a 401k they pay into. The land is the farmers 401k plan.
What's so hard to understand? Big Brother McCain, Cannon, MacLeod, Sample-Huges want to tell take the investment of the farmers away and downgrade it. How about they dissolve their 401k plans first?
10:16am says it best. As a property owner, you should decide what is best for you and decide if you want to farm or not. If a developer scoops it up because no one wants to buy a farm, then that's what happens, the developer still has to go to a planning commission and get permission to subdivide. The planning commission can determine without infringing on a farmer's right to sell or divide his property amongst his beneficiaries by changing or adopting other guidelines for approving subdivisions. It's not that hard to figure out.
I'm on it.. "GET R DONE"
ReplyDeleteso what this is all about is if the farmer doesnt want to farm anymore developers cant put as many houses on that property?

ReplyDeleteOMG. I didn't know what this was all about. Thanks for sharing this. I will be there to defend their rights.
ReplyDeleteI heard Rick Pollitt telling some woman that the farmers will be rolling up to the GOB in their tractors in protest on Thursday.
ReplyDeleteIs there any way we can get the text of this proposed legislation?
ReplyDeleteI never trust a commerical that is so one-sided. I am sure there is more to this proposal than what the "farmer" wants us to believe.
ReplyDeleteThe legislation is posted on www.wicomicocounty.org. It is bill 2009-5

Concern Citizen
so the commercial is about the farmer wanting to farm but its really about the farmer wanting to sell and get out of farming
