Navy Petty Officer Mike Monsoor
PO2 (EOD2) (Explosive Ordnance Disposal)
Mike Monsoor, a Navy EOD Technician, was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor
posthumously for jumping on a grenade in Iraq, giving his life to save his fellow Seals.(Notice: Mike was not a Navy SEAL, he was EOD.He gave his life to save a group of Navy SEALS.)
During Mike Monsoor's funeral in San Diego, as his coffin was being moved from the hearseto the grave site at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery , SEAL's were lined up on both sidesof the pallbearers route forming a column of two's, with the coffin moving up the center. As Mike's coffin passed, each SEAL, having removed his gold Trident from his uniform, slapped it down embedding the Trident in the wooden coffin.
The slaps were audible from across the cemetery; by the time the coffin arrived grave side, it looked as though it had a gold inlay from all the Tridents pinned to it.
This was a fitting send-off for a warrior hero.
This should be front-page news instead of the crap we see every day. Since the media won't make this news,
I choose to make it news by forwarding it.
I am very proud of our military. If you are proud too, please pass this on. If not then rest assured that these fine men and women of our military will continue to serve and protect.
God Bless our Troops
Editors Note: In Memory of my friend and his Family, Alton L. Grizzard was a Navy Seal who's memory will always live on in the Albero Household. His accomplishments were 2nd to none that I have ever seen. This is ONE reason why we take these threats so seriously recently. You just never know. R.I.P. This was a funeral I would never like to experience again in my lifetime.

To Dale, Candy & Bill, You're thought of often and will never be forgotten. alberobutzo@wmconnect.com .
The SEALS know who their Brothers are. Mike was one of them.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone watch Kevin Bacon in Taking Chance about the marine and his escort. Man I cried the whole way through. That is what makes me so furious about all of the left wing liberals and people like William Ayers and Yes, OBAMA that marginalise the troops and the job they are doing but glorify Islam,They make me sick.
ReplyDeleteI have nothing but respect and honor for all of our military; if it wasn't for them we wouldn't have the lives we have now. I know this country is in terrible shape but these fine men and women will still lay down their lives for us and what this country stands for.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless all of you!
God bless our service people!!!
ReplyDeleteJoe - Thanks for sharing this story with all of us. It is great to know that courage and honor still exist - we don't see it nearly enough.
ReplyDeleteYou watch that and think this country may still have a chance!
ReplyDeleteIn memory of Alton Grizzard, is this the same person that was the Naval Academy quarterback?? I never met him, but he was a fantastic football player. What a loss for his family and the US NAVY.
ReplyDeleteanonymous 9:23, if you only knew. I did know Alton and his Family very well. He was from Bowie, Maryland.
ReplyDeleteMike was indeed a Navy Seal his rating was MA2.
ReplyDeleteI am a retired 24 year Navy Vet and had the opportunity work with the Seals on a number of operations.
Its hard to hold back the Tears!
Alton was the starting QB at Navy when I was at West Point. He was a phenominal QB. As I recall, while I was on active duty, I remember hearing he was killed in action as a SEAL in Somalia. Very sad loss for his family, the U.S. Navy and the United States of America.
ReplyDeleteHe wasn't killed in Somalia, he was murdered in California, but he was a good guy.
ReplyDeleteI read the story about Alton it is very said that such a precious life can be taken in such away, i truely do not understand murder suicides. They are just so sad, my thoughts and prayers go out to his family and to those of the other two people who were killed in California.
