Gary Comegys & Shanie Shields Position on Funding SPD and SFD

The following is a statement made, by Gary Comegys, in a letter to the editor in today's Daily Times.

"When the men and women of the Salisbury Police Department needed raises and better pensions, incentives to stay in our department and not leave for better-paying jobs, I responded. Our streets and our city's residents deserve the best protection they can get. Our police officers deserve the best, too."

It would be very easy to dispute this on my own, we've all taken shots at the council, SPD and SFD. I opted to use the words right out of their mouths so there can be no mistakes made on their individual positions concerning public safety.

Below is a link to the council discussion and vote during the FY '09 budget session, concerning increases in manpower and salary for the Salisbury Police Department. Gary says NO and Shanie says it's not murder if they knew who they were going after. If you listen closely you will hear Shanie say "crime is under control". Is this who we want running the city? My friends and family members living in city limits most certainly don't.

Funding SPD.mp3 This is a long audio file but well worth listening to.

  3. Oh boy. Every voter in the city should listen to this. Campbell and Cohen are right on point. Also remember that according to the audit, the amount that the city returned to SURPLUS this past year $1.9 million was jsut about equal to what the city collected as a result of the tax increase passed by Comegys, Shields and Smith. No willingness to make cuts to fund public safety personnel and essentially collecting a tax increase that was put in surplus - UNACCEPTABLE.

  4. What was even more surprising was that Louise, Gary and Shanie would not discuss meeting to cut the budget in other areas to even get each department one or two more positions. It's what is not said that speaks the loudest here.

  5. Yes Gary, you did respond to the needs of SPD. You responded with a loud resounding NO. We won't forget this on Tuesday.

Shanie, crime is not under control. Murder is murder, you of all people should know this. Was it murder or not when they killed your son?

Louise, you are a follower, you couldn't lead a parade without written directions from the mayor.

Lets make a clean sweep on Tuesday. Vote the b*$@ards out.

  6. Gary also didn't mention the scam run on the purchase of the bog the fire palace sits on either. How very convenient.

  9. I woke up this morning, Sunday morning March 1, 2009 at 6:30 am to my radio alarm clock. On WICO 1320 am I was grossed out by what came on. It was Monday Morning with the Mayor and it was oviously taped because she was talking about tomorrow morning being election day. Guess who she was interviewing for Candidate for Mayor. You got it, Bubba Comagees. It was nothing but a free plug to get her boy bubba in office. It was full of lies and every other word was uh and um. She is setting him up for nothing more than a fluff piece for the election. It is extremely disgusting and a waste of air time. If you turn it on now you may get to hear some of it. He is now blasting the other candidates saying they don't have the insite or experience like he does. You may be able to catch some of it now if you turn it on.

Barrie Parsons Tilghman is taking advantage of her position and free time with that radio station to plug her personal agenda. Everyone should be outraged with that and call WICO and demand they pull the plug on her show tomorrow. If you don't Bubba might get through the Primary. Did any of the other candidates get interviewed on her show? NO! Just Bubba Comagys.

Barrie Tilghman and Bubba this is very unethical of you two and extremely corrupt.

Everyone should call Delmarva Broadcasting at 410-219-3500 and demand they don't air her show anymore.

You can also email Bill Reddish at billreddish@comcast.net starting now.

  13. I love it, the volunteers need their "toys", or they won't be happy.

Our crime rate calls for a larger, proactive police force. If you don't want to increase the positions, get the people out of that building and on the streets. Including the Chief, everyone should be out their fighting crime. I would love to see police walking the streets of neighborhoods, or on bikes interacting with the people. I have lived in the city since 1989, and I can't tell you the names of any police officers.

  14. Yup whoever owned the property before it was sold to the city made enough money to buy an election.
