WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE ECONOMIC STIMULUS PLAN

Billions of dollars in spending exclusively devoted to benefit federal employees.

1. $5.5 billion for making federal buildings "green" (including $448 million for the Department of Homeland Security's headquarters)

2. $198 million to design and furnish the DHS headquarters

3. $200 million for workplace safety in Department of Agriculture facilities

4. $75 million for the Smithsonian Institution

5. $300 million more for hybrid and electric cars for federal employees

6. $180 million for construction of Bureau of Land Management facilities

7. $500 million for wildland fire management

8. $110 million for construction for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service

9. $522 million for construction for the Bureau of Indian Affairs

10. $412 million for Centers for Disease Control headquarters

11. $500 million earmark for National Institutes of Health facilities in Bethesda, Maryland

12. $100 million for constructing U.S. Marshalls office buildings

13. $300 million for constructing Federal Bureau of Investigation office buildings

14. $800 million for constructing Federal Prison System buildings and facilities

15. $307 million for constructing National Institute for Standards and Technology office buildings

16. $1 billion for administrative costs and construction of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration office buildings

  1. We will build more government buildings then hire more government employees to fill them up resulting in a need for more tax money to pay them with. Yeah, that makes good sense. Tax ourselves into prosperity.

    Where is the financial help for ME to buy a hybrid car??????

  3. The proponents of MD Slots should have demanded and pushed for their own Bullet Train from Baltimore to Las Vegas. What's wrong with them?
    Certainly Nevada's US Senator Harry Reid would have helped his Maryland Comrades figure out how to stick in the package somehow....

  8. I am one of those who do not believe that a national debt is a national blessing; but rather a curse to a republic, inasmuch as it is calculated to raise around the administration a moneyed aristocracy dangerous to the liberties of the country.

  10. 1:16, Please see my post at 8:58. These construction jobs, when finished, will not bring private sector jobs to your neighborhood. If this money makes it past "Administrative Costs" It just makes more.... Well, I repeat myself.

  11. EVERYBODY is missing the point, where in the heck does this money come from? You think we are broke now, the feds are doing EXACTLY what got us into this, just borrowing more they can't pay back, the equity so many took out of thier homes, and now face record facing foreclosures, who forecloses on the United States, keep going you bunch of liberials, and we will find out! I hoped we would never see another true depression, maybe I will die first because folks, it's coming real soon, and I don't want to see it again, it's that bad!
