A Comment & Reply I Thought All Of You Should See
anonymous said...
Well 1:16 PM you are truely a person of no substance. This blog entry is for an update to a truly horrible incident. But no you have to point out your pathethic opinion of SFD Chief.
6:30 PM
So who are you? Fatso, Gordo or See?
7:02 PM
"Well Joe, I mean anon, there was nothing wrong with his letter. You just stick with your pretend to care about the Salvation Army photo shoot. Oh wait you were sincere about the Salvation Army weren't you? Rightttttttttttt."
Dear David,
I'm sorry you feel I'm the anonymous commenter ragging on See & Gordy. Let me assure you, if I had anything to do with it I believe I've proven in the past I'm not at al afraid to say whatever I like about those two Idiots. However, in this case you're wrong.
As for the Salvation Army, I have not only stood outside day and night doing what I said I would do, I have also used this Blog as a tool to reach out to many others in the hopes of getting so many open slots filled and that has worked beautifully. There will not be one single person who volunteered to do so not Happy in the end for making such a decision by ringing the bells, I don't care how cold it gets. It's very rewarding.
So rag on me all you want. You're the type of Idiot who bitches at me, yet you do nothing to participate.
Here's my offer to you. I would be more than happy to spend a few hours letting you get to know me and here's what I suggest. Take an hour or two slot filling in for the Salvation Army and I will personally stand there with you and we can talk the entire time and you can get the chance to actually get to know who I am.
Many people have come to learn that while I was really hard on people two years ago, I needed to do so to get people coming to this Site and see the wild things going on in Salisbury. Now that everything I was saying has proven to be true, people respect what I'm doing and have been kind enough to actually get to know me personally. I make that same offer to you. Remember my situation with Wayne Barrall? Look where that friendship is today. Give it a shot and I can assure you I'm not the bad guy Barrie Tilghman wants you to believe I am.

FDIC CLOSES 23rd BANK - FIRST GEORGIA
But once again - like clockwork - this past Friday night right after the bank closed the FDIC moved back into Georgia and seized First Georgia Community Bank. This makes the 23rd Banking casualty as a result of the real estate bubble.

The First Black President?
Bush should resign now.
Then Dick Cheney becomes President
Then he appoints Condoleeza Rice as VP.
Then Cheney resigns two weeks later and Condoleeza Rice, A Republican,
Becomes the f irst BLACK - WOMAN President!!!
Oh yeah baby,
I get tears in my eyes thinking about that.........
Children Learn What They Are Taught
One evening before supper, the father noticed his son playing with wood scraps on the floor. He asked the child sweetly, "What are you making?" Just as sweetly, the boy responded, "Oh, I am making a little bowl for you and mama to eat your food from when I grow up." The four-year-old smiled and went back to work. The words so struck the parents that they were speechless. Then tears started to stream down their cheeks. Though no word was spoken, both knew what must be done. That evening the husband took grandfather's hand and gently led him back to the family table.
For the remainder of his days he ate every meal with the family. And for some reason, neither husband nor wife seemed to care any longer when a fork was dropped, milk spilled, or the tablecloth soiled. Children are remarkably perceptive. Their eyes ever observe, their ears ever listen, and their minds ever process the messages they absorb. If they see us patiently provide a happy home atmosphere for family members, they will imitate that attitude for the rest of their lives. The wise parent realizes that every day that building blocks are being laid for the child's future.
Let us all be wise builders and role models. Take care of yourself, ... and those you love, ... today, and everyday!

Another Satisfied Customer
For posting that wonderful puppy. She's more precious than her pictures.
She's now a member of The Sawyer Family, in a loving home with a big backyard to play in.
I still can't believe a monster(not a person) could leave her and her other brothers & sisters, on the side of a road to freeze to death. She's safe and warm now, Thanks to that wonderful family in Berlin that saved her.
Again, Thank you Joe and Merry Christmas

A Post From Grannydragon
I have read the Constitution; it makes no mention of Christ. I have read the Declaration of Independence, and while it makes reference to God, particularly "Nature's God," it does not mention Christ. Furthermore, many of our Founding Fathers were not Christians, as evidenced by the following:
"George Washington, the first president of the United States, never declared himself a Christian according to contemporary reports or in any of his voluminous correspondence. Washington Championed the cause of freedom from religious intolerance and compulsion. When John Murray (a universalist who denied the existence of hell) was invited to become an army chaplain, the other chaplains petitioned Washington for his dismissal. Instead, Washington gave him the appointment. On his deathbed, Washinton uttered no words of a religious nature and did not call for a clergyman to be in attendance.
From:
George Washington and Religion by Paul F. Boller Jr., pp. 16, 87, 88, 108, 113, 121, 127 (1963, Southern Methodist University Press, Dallas, TX)
John Adams, the country's second president, was drawn to the study of law but faced pressure from his father to become a clergyman. He wrote that he found among the lawyers 'noble and gallant achievments" but among the clergy, the "pretended sanctity of some absolute dunces". Late in life he wrote: "Twenty times in the course of my late reading, have I been upon the point of breaking out, "This would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it!"
It was during Adam's administration that the Senate ratified the Treaty of Peace and Friendship, which states in Article XI that "the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion."

The Character of John Adams by Peter Shaw, pp. 17 (1976, North Carolina Press, Chapel Hill, NC) Quoting a letter by JA to Charles Cushing Oct 19, 1756, and John Adams, A Biography in his Own Words, edited by James Peabody, p. 403 (1973, Newsweek, New York NY) Quoting letter by JA to Jefferson April 19, 1817, and in reference to the treaty, Thomas Jefferson, Passionate Pilgrim by Alf Mapp Jr., pp. 311 (1991, Madison Books, Lanham, MD) quoting letter by TJ to Dr. Benjamin Waterhouse, June, 1814.
Thomas Jefferson, third president and author of the Declaration of Independence, said:"I trust that there is not a young man now living in the United States who will not die a Unitarian." He referred to the Revelation of St. John as "the ravings of a maniac" and wrote:
The Christian priesthood, finding the doctrines of Christ levelled to every understanding and too plain to need explanation, saw, in the mysticisms of Plato, materials with which they might build up an artificial system which might, from its indistinctness, admit everlasting controversy, give employment for their order, and introduce it to profit, power, and pre-eminence. The doctrines which flowed from the lips of Jesus himself are within the comprehension of a child; but thousands of volumes have not yet explained the Platonisms engrafted on them: and for this obvious reason that nonsense can never be explained."

Thomas Jefferson, an Intimate History by Fawn M. Brodie, p. 453 (1974, W.W) Norton and Co. Inc. James Madison, fourth president and father of the Constitution, was not religious in any conventional sense. "Religious bondage shackles and debilitates the mind and unfits it for every noble enterprise."
"During almost fifteen centuries has the legal establishment of Christianity been on trial. What have been its fruits? More or less in all places, pride and indolence in the Clergy, ignorance and servility in the laity, in both, superstition, bigotry and persecution."

The Madisons by Virginia Moore, P. 43 (1979, McGraw-Hill Co. New York, NY) quoting a letter by JM to William Bradford April 1, 1774, and James Madison, A Biography in his Own Words, edited by Joseph Gardner, p. 93, (1974, Newsweek, New York, NY) Quoting Memorial and Remonstrance against Religious Assessments by JM, June 1785.
Ethan Allen, whose capture of Fort Ticonderoga while commanding the Green Mountain Boys helped inspire Congress and the country to pursue the War of Independence, said, "That Jesus Christ was not God is evidence from his own words." In the same book, Allen noted that he was generally "denominated a Deist, the reality of which I never disputed, being conscious that I am no Christian." When Allen married Fanny Buchanan, he stopped his own wedding ceremony when the judge asked him if he promised "to live with Fanny Buchanan agreeable to the laws of God." Allen refused to answer until the judge agreed that the God referred to was the God of Nature, and the laws those "written in the great book of nature."

Religion of the American Enlightenment by G. Adolph Koch, p. 40 (1968, Thomas Crowell Co., New York, NY.) quoting preface and p. 352 of Reason, the Only Oracle of Man and A Sense of History compiled by American Heritage Press Inc., p. 103 (1985, American Heritage Press, Inc., New York, NY.)
Benjamin Franklin, delegate to the Continental Congress and the Constitutional Convention, said:
As to Jesus of Nazareth, my Opinion of whom you particularly desire, I think the System of Morals and his Religion...has received various corrupting Changes, and I have, with most of the present dissenters in England, some doubts as to his Divinity; tho' it is a question I do not dogmatize upon, having never studied it, and think it needless to busy myself with it now, when I expect soon an opportunity of knowing the Truth with less trouble." He died a month later, and historians consider him, like so many great Americans of his time, to be a Deist, not a Christian.
From:
Benjamin Franklin, A Biography in his Own Words, edited by Thomas Fleming, p. 404, (1972, Newsweek, New York, NY) quoting letter by BF to Exra Stiles March 9, 1970.
The words "In God We Trust" were not consistently on all U.S. currency until 1956, during the McCarthy Hysteria.
The Treaty of Tripoli, passed by the U.S. Senate in 1797, read in part: "The government of the United States is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion." The treaty was written during the Washington administration, and sent to the Senate during the Adams administration. It was read aloud to the Senate, and each Senator received a printed copy. This was the 339th time that a recorded vote was required by the Senate, but only the third time a vote was unanimous (the next time was to honor George Washington). There is no record of any debate or dissension on the treaty. It was reprinted in full in three newspapers - two in Philadelphia, one in New York City. There is no record of public outcry or complaint in subsequent editions of the papers.
Joe, I hope you will post this. I realize that it is quite controversial and that commenters will attack me, but the words in this post, as you can clearly see, are not my own; they are American History's. And if you choose not to post it, you know from our conversation yesterday that I completely respect your right to do so.
Thank you time.

It's a Sign of the Times
These are the signs of the times.
The unemployment stats were released this week and they are at the highest level in 30 years.
What are people going to do?
As folks pass by these signs they may be thinking about what they have that they could sell.
Did they recently get layed off?
Do they have money for this months house payment?
Do they have money for groceries?
Are they going to choose between bills and a Christmas gift this year?
Credit has been canceled on millions of Americans this month.
People across the US have taken home equity credit checks to the bank to cash, only to find that the credit line has been pulled by the bank.
How many pay checks are you away from losing it?
Do you have savings you can live on, or has it all gone to pay a margin call?
Do you know how to be broke?
Have you purchased things in bulk so that you will have provisions for next month?
These are scary times, and business's like this just rub our noses in it don't they?
You know the really scary thing about these business's?
It is that it brings us to the base levels of our needs.
When there is lack we do things that we would not do when there is abundance.
Like the old saying goes you don't know what someone's life is like until you have walked a mile in their shoes.
Do you know what your neighbor is going through?
Did they lose a job?
Do they have health insurance?
Do they have enough to eat?
I'm not coming down on these business's.
It's the American way. Buy low, sell high.
Are they taking advantage of a situation? Sure they are, but they aren't doing anything wrong. I just don't like to see us ina position, where it is profitable for a person in this business to set up shop in our town.
For those in our community whose lives are on the edge, who may be under the influence of drugs, this opportunity places the rest of us in an even more precarious situation.
As I said earlier you never know where someone else is, so be careful. Lock up your house and protect what you do have.
Scarcity, and humanity usually goes one or two ways...
Desperation, or Gratefulness.
Make the most of it folks. Whatever doesn't kill us makes us stronger.
These are times when we will be able to teach our children lessons that in times of prosperity seem contrived. Use these times as learning moments for your children and take a couple of lessons yourself.
Waste not, want not.
Love your neighbor as you love yourself.
Don't worry about boxes filled under the tree this year, make some cookies and share them, make something with your hands to give as a gift. Write a letter to a loved one and let them know how much you love them.
Give of yourself, as you can always find someone who has it worse than you do.
Judas Asparagus
This is amazing, and brought tears of laughter to my eyes. I wonder how often we take for granted that children understand what we are teaching???
Through the eyes of a child:
The Children's Bible in a Nutshell
In the beginning, which occurred near the start, there was nothing but God, darkness, and some gas. The Bible says, "The Lord thy God is one," but I think He must be a lot older than that.
Anyway, God said, "Give me a light!," and someone did. Then God made the world. He split the Adam and made Eve. Adam and Eve were naked, but they weren't embarrassed because mirrors hadn't been invented yet.
Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating one bad apple, so they were driven from the Garden of Eden. Not sure what they were driven in, though, because they didn't have cars.
Adam and Eve had a son, Cain, who hated his brother as long as he was Abel. Pretty soon all of the early people died off, except for Methuselah, who lived to be like a million or something.
One of the next important people was Noah, who was a good guy, but one of his kids was kind of a Ham.
Noah built a large boat and put his family and some animals on it. He asked some other people to join him, but they said they would have to take a rain check.
After Noah came Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Jacob was more famous than his brother, Esau, because Esau sold Jacob his birthmark in exchange for some pot roast.
Jacob had a son named Joseph who wore a really loud sports coat. Another important Bible guy is Moses, whose real name was Charlton Heston.
Moses led the Israel Lights out of Egypt and away from the evil Pharaoh after God sent 10 plagues on Pharaoh's people. These plagues included frogs, mice, lice, bowels, and no cable.
God fed the Israel Lights every day with manicotti. Then he gave them His Top Ten Commandments.
These include: Don't lie, cheat, smoke, dance, or covet your neighbor's stuff. Oh, yeah, I just thought of one more: Humor thy father and thy mother.
One of Moses' best helpers was Joshua, who was the first Bible guy to use spies. Joshua fought the battle of Geritol, and the fence fell over on the town.
After Joshua came David. He got to be king by killing a giant with a slingshot. He had a son named Solomon who had about 300 wives and 500 porcupines. My teacher says he was wise, but that doesn't sound very wise to me.
After Solomon there were a bunch of major league prophets. One of these was Jonah, who was swallowed by a big whale and then barfed up on the shore.
There were also some minor-league prophets, but I gu ess we don't have to worry about them.
After the Old Testament came the New Testament. Jesus is the star of the New. He was born in Bethlehem in a barn.
(I wish I had been born in a barn too, because my mom is always saying to me, "Close the door! Were you born in a barn?" It would be nice to say, "As a matter of fact, I was.")
During His life, Jesus had many arguments with sinners like the Pharisees and the Republicans. Jesus also had 12 opossums. The worst one was Judas Asparagus. Judas was so evil that they named a terrible vegetable after him.
Jesus was a great man. He healed many leopards and even preached to some Germans on the mount.
But the Republicans and all those guys put Jesus on trial before Pontius the Pilot. Pilot didn't stick up for Jesus. He just washed his hands instead.
Anyways, Jesus died for our sins, then came back to life again. He went up to Heaven but will be back at the end of the aluminum. His return is foretold in the book of Revolution.
A Viewer Of SBYNews Writes His Congressman On Bailout
"I want to express my view on the notion of any auto bailout plan. I am adamantly against ANY form of bailout for the auto industry. I would rather pledge to never every again buy a domestic automobile than see the UAW get away with the outright scandalous and mobster like actions they have plagued the automakers with over the past thirty years. These unions although once were necessary, have caused the majority of this problem by the ridiculous benefit and compensation packages that they have strong armed for themselves. These contracts have even allowed an employee to be paid 90 percent of their salary even if laid off.
These are the same people who walked out on GM when they tried to put a better brake system on the Camaro a few years ago. The American worker has become lazy. We are losing jobs to offshore manufacturing because of the high cost of labor. A decent wage for a days work is expected in any industry but these workers have gone beyond decent salaries and get incredible amounts of money and benefits to do next to nothing.
A local company Dresser Wayne was a prime example of how the Union forced the plant to close down. It was almost like clock work how every spring the workers would go on strike. Guess what…Eventually they closed the doors and went offshore.
The auto industry is better off going bankrupt and starting new without the Unions so they can be rid of the dead weight that has drug them down for years. Who came to the aide of the many American auto manufacturers across this country over the past one hundred years? At one time nearly every major City had its own car maker. Many companies like Hudson, American Motors, and so many others where bought out or just simply closed the doors to the “Big Three.” Tell me who was at the aid of the horse and buggy manufacturers when the cars came along? Who was at the aid of the typewriter manufacturers when the word processor came along? Who? No one. Either a company restructures to offer a product the public wants or they shut their doors. I don’t want to see anyone loose their jobs but if these people are unwilling to take benefit packages similar to companies like Nissan, Toyota and Honda then there is no hope for their future.
I was against the bank bail out Bill. I wrote letters and called my Congressmen. As usual they played politics as usual and did not listen to the overwhelming American voice that screamed “No Bailout.” I proved to be on the right side of that issue as nothing positive has come from the Bailout just more job losses, more home losses, and more destitute Americans. Why would the Government not simply go to those who were delinquent and offer them 24 months of interest only loans and extend the term on their loans? At least that would have given a lot of people a chance to get caught up on their bills. The Federal Government continues to print and spend money it does not have. Lead by example if you want to have people fiscally responsible then start with yourselves. A consumer economy is destined to fail when Government’s only directive is to taxes everything we have in order to create more funds to overspend. Call this a Revelation if you will…but the way I see it socialism is on the rise and the Federal Government has become a crack addict of sorts and it’s going to take a revolution of ideals to get it under control again. I urge you do not pass any Auto Bail out. Those companies and workers will need to do what it takes to get things right for themselves. If they are not willing to make some sacrifice then it will not bode well for any of us."
