Kratovil Shows Real Talent ...

... For Talking Out of Both Sides of His Mouth

Democrat congressional candidate Frank Kratovil has a new TV commercial. It's great ... if you could believe what he says. In the span of 30 short seconds, Kratovil manages to contradict himself on almost every key issue being talked about in the campaign.

Yes, Frank promises the voters of the First District almost everything short of candy and a stripper. Perhaps that will be coming in his next ad. Read More ...

COUNTY EXECUTIVE NAMES NEW CHAIR OF WY&CC COMMISSION

ORVILLE PENN APPOINTED NEW CHAIR OF COUNTY EXECUTIVE’S WICOMICO YOUTH & CIVIC CENTER COMMISSION

August 27, 2008

Wicomico County Executive Richard M. Pollitt, Jr. has announced that Judge Alfred T. Truitt, Jr., chairman of the County Executive’s Citizens Commission on the future of the Civic Center has informed him that he would be unable to continue as the leader of the commission. Judge Truitt became aware of a provision contained in the Judicial Code of Ethics that would preclude him from taking part in any effort that carried a potential for future legal action. Judge Truitt said, “I began to research the history of the Civic Center and unfortunately discovered at least one area that could be the subject of future litigation in Wicomico County. Even though I am retired, I am recalled frequently and sit in this Circuit Court. I sincerely apologize to Executive Pollitt for any delay and inconvenience.”

“I regret that Judge Truitt is unable to serve with us officially,” said Wicomico County Executive Richard M. Pollitt, Jr., “but he has offered his years of experience and insights into the role of the Civic Center in the life of our county and he will continue to be a resource. At the same time, it is imperative to keep the work of the Commission on track. Toward this end, I consulted with Commission Vice-Chairs Orville Penn and County Councilwoman Stevie Prettyman and they agreed that Mr. Penn is ideally suited to assume the leadership of the group. We are fortunate that Ms. Prettyman will continue as vice-chair. The next meeting of the WY&CC Commission will be on September 3rd at 11:00 A.M. in Flanders 6 at the Civic Center.”

Orville Penn has been an administrator at SHORE UP! Inc., since 1977. Mr. Penn has a long history of dedicated community service. He has served as chairperson for the Salisbury Advisory Council on Youth Activities, commissioner for the Wicomico Housing Authority, chairperson for Wesley Temple Community Programs and chairperson for the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center Task Force. Mr. Penn received the Wicomico County NAACP President’s Award in 2004.

The John Robinson Case Has Been Postponed Again!

The trial that was supposed to start tomorrow morning has been postponed until September 4th, 2008 at the request of the defense.

Robinson was allegedly playing with a hand gun in his jewelery story when he allegedly accidentally discharged the weapon and allegedly fragments allegedly hit one of his employees. Do I sound like his alleged Radio Show? Isn't it funny how the very last day of his show, Joe Edwards had that automatic weapon go off and the next thing you know Robinson is in trouble for ALLEGEDLY discharging a weapon. Isn't that allegedly called Karma?

I heard another Alleged story about Robinson the other day. I'm told he's relocating his business as he allegedly told friends he allegedly purchased a million dollar building nearby for $750,000.00.

Hey, John, you see 300 W. Main Street? IT'S PAID FOR. Here comes all the nasty messages.

Today's Daily Times

Look, seriously, I finally got to see a copy of today's paper. Is it just me or did it pretty much resemble yesterdays Salisbury News from front to back? Go ahead, I can take it.

IS BUBBA TO BLAME?

SBYnews covered this about two weeks ago whereby there wasn't anyone supervising the traffic flow at the intersection of Route 50 & Tilghman Road - (near K-mart). Well this morning I saw Bubba pull-up into the K-mart parking lot and never got out of his vehicle. The time was 7:45 a.m.

At 11:30 a.m. today, this is what happened. A driver shot through the intersection and is pitched on top of a brand new traffic signal box at that intersection.

SIGNIFICANT DELAYS EXPECTED AS SAFETY ENHANCEMENTS ARE MADE TO BAY BRIDGE

Labor Day Beachgoers Urged To Travel Off Peak, Use Alternate Route
Construction Could Take Up To 10 Weeks To Complete

Starting today, the right lane of the Bay Bridge's eastbound span will be closed
continuously as work begins to strengthen the parapets (or barriers) lining the
side of the bridge. The first section to be modified is near the Eastern Shore
side of the span. Pending results of the ongoing testing, potential repairs to
other sections of parapet on the eastbound span are possible and could take up
to 10 weeks to complete.

“Our annual inspections, that go above and beyond federal requirements, confirm
that the Bay Bridge is safe,” said Transportation Secretary and Maryland
Transportation Authority (MDTA) Chairman John D. Porcari. “Since the Aug. 10
incident, we have been aggressively assessing bridge operations and structural
elements. In-depth testing done to date shows that improvements can be made to
strengthen the parapet. Out of an abundance of caution, we want to execute these
modifications immediately.”

During the right-lane closure, the posted speed limit on the eastbound span will
drop to 40 mph at all times. Two-way traffic will operate as needed on the
westbound span to provide two eastbound travel lanes. Commuters will still have
three lanes westbound during morning rush hours, as will travelers returning
from the Eastern Shore on Sundays and Labor Day Monday.

“The reality is that diminished capacity will lead to delays, particularly
during the upcoming Labor Day weekend, but the safety of our motorists,
employees and contractors is our top priority,” said MDTA Executive Secretary
Ronald L. Freeland. “We're asking our bridge commuters and local residents to
work with us again during these modifications. We're also encouraging Labor Day
beachgoers to use alternate routes and avoid the Bay Bridge this weekend, if
possible. Drivers should plan their trips by calling 1-877-BAYSPAN (229-7726)
and logging onto baybridge.com.”

The MDTA began today's repairs after ultrasonic and ground penetrating radar
(GPR) testing of the parapet in the right lane near the Eastern Shore indicated
corrosion of reinforcing steel bolts encased in the concrete barrier.

“The repairs we are starting today will restore the strength of the parapet,”
said MDTA Chief Engineer Geoffrey V. Kolberg. “The corrosion is a direct result
of voids in the center of the concrete parapet, where moisture has become
trapped. If our ongoing testing identifies other parapet areas in need of
strengthening, immediate corrective action will begin and could take up to 10
weeks for such repairs.”

Strengthening of the parapet involves bolting an L-shaped steel anchor strap (or
bracket) to the parapet and to the bridge deck and bolting a double steel w-beam
(or guardrail) to the parapet. Design of a permanent repair to the parapet is
underway.

During the lane closure, trucks wider than 12 feet will be prohibited from
traveling the bridge in the eastbound direction and must use an alternate route.
The restriction includes trucks that have been issued blanket permits.

Suggested alternate routes to and from the Eastern Shore include:

EASTBOUND TRAFFIC

From Washington D.C., Baltimore Metropolitan areas and points north and west of
Baltimore:
• I-95 north to DE 1 south to access beach resort areas
• Remain on DE 1 for all Delaware beach resorts
• For Maryland resort areas - use DE 1, to US 113, to MD 90. Take MD 90 to US 50
or continue south for Assateague and Virginia resorts
• Motorists traveling to Wicomico, Worcester and Somerset counties and the
Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel (Virginia) - exit DE 1 in Dover to US 13 south
• For motorists traveling to Kent, Caroline and Queen Anne's counties - take
I-95 north to DE 896 south which becomes US 301 south
• For motorists traveling to points south of Queen Anne's County (Talbot and
Dorchester counties), take US 301 south, to MD 213 south, to US 50 east

From Richmond, Virginia and points South:
• Take I-64 east, to US 13 north, into Maryland
• If traveling to the beach resort areas, exit US 13 north, onto US 133 north
near Pocomoke City

WESTBOUND TRAFFIC
From Beach Resort areas:
• Delaware beach areas should use DE 1 to I-95
• Maryland beach areas should take US 113 north, to DE 1 to I-95 or remain on US
50 west from Ocean City and exit onto US 13 north, to DE 1 north of Smyrna to
I-95

From other Eastern Shore areas:
• From Caroline County -- take MD 404, to MD 313, to US 301 north, to DE 896, to
I-95
• From Dorchester and Talbot counties -- take US 50 west, to MD 213 north, to US
301 north, to DE 896, to I-95
• From Queen Anne's County -- take US 301 north, to DE 896, to I-95

The MDTA urges motorists to stay alert and use caution when traveling the
bridge:
• Call 1-877-BAYSPAN (1-877-229-7726) for 24/7 traffic conditions at the bridge.
• Visit baybridge.com to view live traffic cameras at the bridge and to sign up
for traffic and email alerts.
• Obey posted speed limits and overhead lane-control signals. The speed limit
for the eastbound span and when driving in two-way traffic is 40 mph.
• Use your vehicle's headlights in two-way traffic.
• Stay alert -- do not change lanes while traveling over the bridge.
• Make sure your vehicle is “road ready”-- one disabled vehicle can cause
extensive backups.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Tax Hike In Pittsville

Joe,

It was brought to my attention by my landlord that the town taxes in Pittsville had been raised significantly. So guess what else goes up. My rent!!! It was also brought to my attention that the town council president "Denver Moore" made a statement to the "ever so popular" Daily Times that the town taxes would not be raised. It seems to me that ol' Barrie Tilghman is waring off on other local town officials (How can we screw the public a little more). I've heard of how Mr. Moore is a backstabbing PIECE OF you know what!! Now I believe it. If I am mistaken in any of these accusation, I apologize. But if not, I would like the public to know what kind of people are running the little towns around Delmarva. On another note, I just love getting online to see what the "Salisbury News" has posted about our local "so called" heros (i.e. barrie, bubba, see, gordy) The Bubba sightings are funny as hell!!!! Keep up the GREAT work!!!

Sincerely,
A Pissed Off Pittsville Resident

DEEPLY DISAPPOINTED DELEGATE IN DENVER

[a Sbynews exclusive report]

Our source in the Maryland Delegation at the Democratic National Convention has
sent this message, which appears verbatim below.

It’s plain to see that the party of Jefferson has become the disaffected being
conned disgustingly by the disingenuous. The leadership has almost completely
adopted the Obama-Clinton ploy of promising anything and everything to get
candidates nominated and elected without any possibility of delivering such
things as free healthcare and college education along with tax rebates.
Moderate liberals are no longer welcomed by the party apparatus.

Hillary’s highly scripted and overly staged speech was sickening in both its
substance and its effect on the audience of acolytes. Her posturing to make
nice to Obama made me gag. Of course she did not apologize for her numerous
slurs about him made during the primary campaign. Many of her loyally followers
assembled here this week are actively forming local “PUMA” groups to try to
defeat Obama, by voting for McCain, in order to provide a better stage for a
Hillary comeback four years from now.

I may not stay until the grand finale on Thursday -- I've had enough of
the "Change You Can't Believe In" charade -- but I’ll be there tonight to hear
the world’s greatest living snake oil salesman speak and listen to Biden
plagiarize once more. And you can bet I’m catching it from someone for my
expose about the Barrie-Hillary episode.

P. S. Sorry I forgot to send this before going to bed last night; the altitude
here is really affecting me more than this Democrat debacle.

Just A Formality With Columbo

. . . Sorry to bother you Mr. Obama, Sir

Excuse me Mr. Obama, I mean Senator Obama, sir. Um . . . know you are busy and important and stuff.I mean running for president is very important and . . . ah . . . I hate to bother you. I will only take a minute ok, sir?

See, I have these missing pieces that are holding me up, and I was wondering sir, if you could take time out of your busy schedule and help me out. You know, no big deal, just some loose ends and things. Hey, you have a nice place here! The wife sees houses like this on TV all the time and says boy she wishes she had digs like this you know? Is that painting real? Really? Wow. I saw something like that in a museum once!

Oh, sorry sir. I didn't mean to get off the track. So if you could just help me out a minute and give me some details, I will get right out of your way. I want to close this case and maybe take the wife to Coney Island or something. Ever been to Coney Island ? No, I didn't think so. . . Well, listen, anyways, I can't seem to get some information I need to wrap this up. These things seem to either be "locked" or "not available'. I'm sure it's just some oversight or glitch or something, so if you could you tell me where these things are . . . I . . . I . . . have them written down here somewhere . . . oh wait. Sorry about the smears, It was raining out. I'll just read it to you.

Could you help me please find these things, sir?

Have Things Become That Bad At The Salisbury Fire Department?

SUICIDE RECOGNITION TRAINING

The Salisbury Fire Department will be hosting a MANDATORY class on Suicide Recognition for all career personnel at the new Administrative Headquarters. The classes will be held on September 8, 2008 and September 10, 2008 from 0800-1000 hours. Personnel are to attend the class ''off duty''. If there are any questions please contact Training.

If you think I'm kidding about this Post, GO HERE to see the Salisbury Fire Department Website and see for yourself. So now they're worried about their own Firefighters committing suicide? Like I said, have things become that bad around that place? Here's the kicker Folks. From what I've read, only the PAID Firefighters must attend this manditory class. Obviously the Volunteers are much happpier and have far less risk than the Paid Firefighters?

I'll have to go take a look at the Salisbury Police Department and see if they have a listing there too.

Flowers And Plants, At What Cost To The City?

One can only wonder if there will come a time when they will choose to also close down Isabella Street too in order to water the plants?

I know these guys are doing what they're told to do, I'm cool with that. However, there are many businesses on the Downtown Plaza that use the side street just off the Plaza and only accessible from the Plaza to park their vehicles for the day. When they attempt to get into work, the road is closed off to anyone and everyone for a good two hours, twice a week.

Yesterday, a couple was seen ONCE AGAIN on the Downtown Plaza stealing the cash out of the Fountain in front of 47 News. Witnesses stood there watching the female acting as a lookout while the guy took off his shirt and climbed right into the Fountain and stripped if of the cash that is normally used as donations to local non profit organizations.

I asked this witness if she called the Police and like so many other people that have seen this, she felt bad for the guy in such need for the money. So Chiefy, how's that Camera working for you at that end of the Plaza? Can you come back to us and positively identify this young man and woman? Please do show us that having these cameras strategically placed where you seem to see fit is working for us Taxpayers?

After all, that's about the highest crime the Downtown Plaza has seen in several years, besides the graffiti.

Anyhow, the plants are watered, the Fountains no longer work, (none of them) you can't find or access parking on the Plaza, the cash in the Fountains is gone and the Cameras seem to be useless. Yep, the management and security of this City simply sucks.

Going Once, Going Twice, SOLD!

I was walking down the Downtown Plaza when I heard someone ringing a bell and thought, isn't that cool. The sound brought me to the steps of the old Court House where an Auctioneer was auctioning off property. The one I stood around listening to was a building on Old Ocean City Road that used to be owned by the Telephone Company. It was a brick structure originally but had been converted with siding and so forth. This commercial piece of property sold for $40,000.00 and the new Owner will list the property for resale through Doug Marshall right away for $79,900.00. Not a bad days work, eh?

People should keep their eyes open for such deals because the good ones are still out there to be had. Congratulations to the buyer.

Bubba Comegys tried getting past old 300 W. Main Street but was unsuccessful, like all the others. Bubba, You've Been Blogged!

Philip J. Berg, Esq. Files Federal Lawsuit Requesting Obama Be Removed as a Candidate as he does not meet the Qualifications for President

For Immediate Release: - 08/21/08

Suit filed 08/21/08, No. 08-cv-4083

Contact information at the end of this press release. Documents filed with the court and a copy of this press release can be downloaded at the end of this press release.

(Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania – 08/21/08) - Philip J. Berg, Esquire, [Berg is a former Deputy Attorney General of Pennsylvania; former candidate for Governor and U.S. Senate in Democratic Primaries; former Chair of the Democratic Party in Montgomery County; former member of Democratic State Committee; an attorney with offices in Montgomery County, PA and an active practice in Philadelphia, PA, filed a lawsuit in Federal Court today, Berg vs. Obama, Civil Action No. 08-cv-4083, seeking a Declaratory Judgment and an Injunction that Obama does not meet the qualifications to be President of the United States. Berg filed this suit for the best interests of the Democratic Party and the citizens of the United States.“Eighteen million Democratic Primary voters donated money, volunteered their time and energy, worked very hard and then not only supported Senator Clinton, but voted for her and often recruited other supporters as well. All the efforts of supporters of legitimate citizens were for nothing because this man lied and cheated his way into a

Philip J. Berg, Esquire stated in his lawsuit that Senator Obama:

1. Is not a natural-born citizen; and/or

2. Lost his citizenship when he was adopted in Indonesia; and/or

3. Has dual loyalties because of his citizenship with Kenya and Indonesia.

Berg stated: “I filed this action at this time to avoid the obvious problems that will occur when the Republican Party raises these issues after Obama is nominated. There have been numerous questions raised about Obama’s background with no satisfactory answers. The questions that I have addressed include, but are not limited to:

1. Where was Obama born? Hawaii; an island off of Hawaii; Kenya; Canada; or ? 2. Was he a citizen of Kenya, Indonesia and/or Canada? 3. What was the early childhood of Obama in Hawaii; in Kenya; in Indonesia when he was adopted; and later, back to Hawaii?

4. An explanation as to the various names utilized by Obama that include: Barack Hussein Obama; Barry Soetoro; Barry Obama; Barack Dunham; and Barry Dunham. 5. Illinois Bar Application – Obama fails to acknowledge use of names other than Barack Hussein Obama, a blatant lie.

If Obama can prove U.S. citizenship, we still have the issue of muti-citizenship with responsibilities owed to and allegance to other countries. Berg continued:

fraudulent candidacy and cheated legitimately eligible natural born citizens from competing in a fair process and the supporters of their citizen choice for the nomination.

Voters donated money, goods and services to elect a nominee and were defrauded by Senator Obama's lies and obfuscations. He clearly shows a conscience of guilt by his actions in using the forged birth certificate and the lies he's told to cover his loss of citizenship. We believe he does know, supported this belief by his actions in hiding his secret, in that he failed to regain his citizenship and used documents to further his position as a natural born citizen. We would also show he proclaims himself a Constitutional scholar and lecturer, but did not learn he had no eligibility to become President except by means of lying, obfuscations and deceptions. His very acts proves he knew he was no longer a natural born citizen. We believe he knew he was defrauding the country or else why use the forged birth certificate of his half sister?

Americans lost money, goods and services donated in their support of a candidate who supposedly was a natural born citizen simply because the DNC officers and party leaders looked the other way and did not demand credentials to answer the questions and prove whether or not Senator Obama was a legitimately natural born citizen, even in light of recent information that has surfaced on websites on the Internet suggesting Senator Obama may not be eligible to become President and questioning his status of multiple citizenships and questionable loyalties! If the DNC officers and.or leaders had performed one ounce of due diligence we would not find ourselves in this emergency predicament, one week away from making a person the nominee who has lost their citizenship as a child and failed to even perform the basic steps of regaining citizenship through an oath of allegiance at age eighteen [18] as prescribed by Constitutional laws!

The injunctive relief must be granted because failing to do so, this inaction defrauds everyone who voted in the Democratic Primary for a nominee that is a fair representation of the voters. Failure to grant injunctive relief would allow a corrupted, fraudulent nomination process to continue. It not only allows, but promotes an overwhelming degree of disrespect and creates such a lack of confidence in voters of the primary process itself, so that it would cement a prevailing belief that no potential candidate has to obey the laws of this country, respect our election process, follow the Constitution, or even suffer any consequence for lying and defrauding voters to get onto the ballot when they have no chance of serving if they fraudulently manage to get elected! It is unfair to the country for candidates of either party to become the nominee when there is any question of their ability to serve if elected.

All judges are lawyers and held to a higher standard of practice than a regular lawyer. It is this Judicial standard that demands injunctive relief prayed for here. This relief is predicated upon one of the most basic premises of practicing law which states no lawyer can allow themselves to be used in furthering a criminal enterprise. And by that gauge alone, failing to give injunctive relief to the 18 million supporters of the other candidate, a true natural born citizen eligible to serve if elected, this court must not allow itself to be used to further the criminal and fraudulent acts to continue and be rewarded by becoming the Democratic Nominee. Failure to give the injunctive relief prayed for will insure that a corrupted Presidential election process will only guarantee a show of unfair preference of one group of people over another group by not demanding the same rules be applied to all groups equally and fairly, especially in light of the fact that both candidates are each considered a minority.

Taxpayers For Commons Sense

The Taxpayers for Common Sense organization sent President Bush an online petition drive to veto the 2008 Farm Subsidy Bill based on abuses of the subsidized farm program.

http://www.taxpayer.net/resources.php?category=&type=Project&proj_id=824&act

Unfortunately for the majority of taxpayers, the bill was signed into law.

However, there is some positive light to shed on this subject. You see previously, the public was shielded from knowing who the subsidy beneficiaries were.

NOT ANYMORE!
Full Disclosure: Who really benefits from federal farm subsidies
For decades, American taxpayers have provided tens of billions of dollars in federal farm subsidies to some of the largest and wealthiest farm businesses in the nation. But thousands of people who benefited from the subsidy flow were shielded from public view behind layers of partnerships, joint ventures, limited liability corporations, cooperatives, and other business structures that obscured their personal subsidy claims.

Thomas Sowell was born in North Carolina and grew up in Harlem. As with many others in his neighborhood, he left home early and did not finish high school. The next few years were difficult ones, but eventually he joined the Marine Corps and became a photographer in the Korean War. After leaving the service, Sowell entered Harvard University, worked a part-time job as a photographer and studied the science that would become his passion and profession: economics.

After graduating magna cum laude from Harvard University (1958), he went on to receive his master's in economics from Columbia University (1959) and a doctorate in economics from the University of Chicago (1968).

In the early '60s, Sowell held jobs as an economist with the Department of Labor and AT&T. But his real interest was in teaching and scholarship. In 1965, at Cornell University, he began the first of many professorships. His other teaching assignments include Rutgers University, Amherst University, Brandeis University and the University of California at Los Angeles, where he taught in the early '70s and also from 1984 to 1989.

Sowell has published a large volume of writing. His dozen books, as well as numerous articles and essays, cover a wide range of topics, from classic economic theory to judicial activism, from civil rights to choosing the right college. Moreover, much of his writing is considered ground-breaking -- work that will outlive the great majority of scholarship done today.

Though Sowell had been a regular contributor to newspapers in the late '70s and early '80s, he did not begin his career as a newspaper columnist until 1984. George F. Will's writing, says Sowell, proved to him that someone could say something of substance in so short a space (750 words). And besides, writing for the general public enables him to address the heart of issues without the smoke and mirrors that so often accompany academic writing.

In 1990, he won the prestigious Francis Boyer Award, presented by The American Enterprise Institute.

Currently Sowell is a senior fellow at the Hoover Institute in Stanford, Calif.

Obama and McCain
By Thomas Sowell

Now that the two parties have finally selected their presidential candidates, it is time for a sober— if not grim— assessment of where we are.

Not since 1972 have we been presented with two such painfully inadequate candidates. When election day came that year, I could not bring myself to vote for either George McGovern or Richard Nixon. I stayed home.

This year, none of us has that luxury. While all sorts of gushing is going on in the media, and posturing is going on in politics, the biggest national sponsor of terrorism in the world— Iran— is moving step by step toward building a nuclear bomb.

The point when they get that bomb will be the point of no return. Iran's nuclear bomb will be the terrorists' nuclear bomb— and they can make 9/11 look like child's play.

All the options that are on the table right now will be swept off the table forever. Our choices will be to give in to whatever the terrorists demand— however outrageous those demands might be— or to risk seeing American cities start disappearing in radioactive mushroom clouds.

All the things we are preoccupied with today, from the price of gasoline to health care to global warming, will suddenly no longer matter.

Just as the Nazis did not find it enough to simply kill people in their concentration camps, but had to humiliate and dehumanize them first, so we can expect terrorists with nuclear weapons to both humiliate us and force us to humiliate ourselves, before they finally start killing us.

They have already telegraphed their punches with their sadistic beheadings of innocent civilians, and with the popularity of videotapes of those beheadings in the Middle East.

They have already telegraphed their intention to dictate to us with such things as Osama bin Laden's threats to target those places in America that did not vote the way he prescribed in the 2004 elections. He could not back up those threats then but he may be able to in a very few years.

The terrorists have given us as clear a picture of what they are all about as Adolf Hitler and the Nazis did during the 1930s— and our "leaders" and intelligentsia have ignored the warning signs as resolutely as the "leaders" and intelligentsia of the 1930s downplayed the dangers of Hitler.

We are much like people drifting down the Niagara River, oblivious to the waterfalls up ahead. Once we go over those falls, we cannot come back up again.

What does this have to do with today's presidential candidates? It has everything to do with them.

One of these candidates will determine what we are going to do to stop Iran from going nuclear— or whether we are going to do anything other than talk, as Western leaders talked in the 1930s.

There is one big difference between now and the 1930s. Although the West's lack of military preparedness and its political irresolution led to three solid years of devastating losses to Nazi Germany and imperial Japan, nevertheless when all the West's industrial and military forces were finally mobilized, the democracies were able to turn the tide and win decisively.

But you cannot lose a nuclear war for three years and then come back. You cannot even sustain the will to resist for three years when you are first broken down morally by threats and then devastated by nuclear bombs.

Our one window of opportunity to prevent this will occur within the term of whoever becomes President of the United States next January.

At a time like this, we do not have the luxury of waiting for our ideal candidate or of indulging our emotions by voting for some third party candidate to show our displeasure— at the cost of putting someone in the White House who is not up to the job.

Senator John McCain has been criticized in this column many times. But, when all is said and done, Senator McCain has not spent decades aiding and abetting people who hate America.

On the contrary, he has paid a huge price for resisting our enemies, even when they held him prisoner and tortured him. The choice between him and Barack Obama should be a no-brainer.

Delmar Mayor May Get Charged By The FOP

Although Collective Bargaining has passed, how unethical do YOU think it is when the Mayor of a Town passes out the above two pages at the Town Council Meeting the night before the special election?

This Mayor needs to be thrown out on his A$$, regardless of his past history. He has been well known for not showing support towards the Police but this time around the Citizens have spoken AGAIN and I'm confident he'll do everything in his powers to fight this election too.

Nevertheless, the Delmar Police Department will enjoy the securities they deserve. Oh, and the Citizens chose this to be what they want for their Officers. I doubt very seriously these Officers will ever forget where they came from. Start showing some respect from BOTH SIDES.

As for the Mayor, start looking for a new job because that was just too low for someone is the position of Mayor and you don't deserve the job any more.
