Tax Hike In Pittsville

Joe,

It was brought to my attention by my landlord that the town taxes in Pittsville had been raised significantly. So guess what else goes up. My rent!!! It was also brought to my attention that the town council president "Denver Moore" made a statement to the "ever so popular" Daily Times that the town taxes would not be raised. It seems to me that ol' Barrie Tilghman is waring off on other local town officials (How can we screw the public a little more). I've heard of how Mr. Moore is a backstabbing PIECE OF you know what!! Now I believe it. If I am mistaken in any of these accusation, I apologize. But if not, I would like the public to know what kind of people are running the little towns around Delmarva. On another note, I just love getting online to see what the "Salisbury News" has posted about our local "so called" heros (i.e. barrie, bubba, see, gordy) The Bubba sightings are funny as hell!!!! Keep up the GREAT work!!!

Sincerely,
A Pissed Off Pittsville Resident

  1. It was not only Denver , it was the entire council. The decision was already in stone and in print PRIOR to the town meeting. Numerous people spoke out in opposition but it was like Salisbury...predetermined prior to the meeting. Is that legal? I know legal is a fuzzy word when Paul Wilber is the attorney. We were told there was no choice due to increases in expenses. I appreciate that, however driving taxes up significantly on top of other increasing expenses among the taxpayers leaves nothing left for food.

People if you do not get off your a$$es ang to the meetings you have no one to blame but youreselves when things like this happen.

  2. When Joe first brought this up in June I email the Town of Pittsville about the hike. Mr. Moore called me first thing the next morning to tell me the was no "increase." They weren't changing the rate so in his mind (and the rest of the comissioners) they weren't increasing taxes. Of course our assessments went up so the taxes went up. A couple of my neighbors went to the council meeting that month and the council wantes to increase revenues to improve the water plant. Of course impact fees are supposed to do that.

It's a mess, but at least it isn't Salisbury :-)

  6. well, pittsvilles rate of tax assesment comes from the states assesment , and they did phase in the increase to primary residences just as the state did. the liberals in annapolis did this not denver moore or the council. i can tell you this compare pittsvilles water and sewer rates to other local towns like sharptown , salisbury or fruitland they are somewhat cheaper and at least some of the roads are being paved rite here at the tax time so at least you can see some of the advantages of the increase i go to town meetings and i think they have one of the best non bias councils there is to date. of course they have there problems like all small towns, but i would rather live here than in any of the other towns listed above.tax increase or a part of life when liberals rule the roost . thats a fact and with this toilet econmy its gonna be a long ole struggle.

  7. for all Pittsville town residence, I have hated the town hall since i moved here, I challenge everyone who has an issue with this town and especially the good ole' boys club that runs it, to show up at the meetings they have every month. Everyone complains but know one does anything about it.

  8. call the AG office....they are required by code which you can find online to advertise for a certain period of time and have a public hearing...they did not do that...if they say they did...ask for the certification they are required to get from the Daily Times showing dates of the ad....
they did not have a meeting last year either...I was there and they cancelled the meeting because it did not fit into their schedules, rescheduled it with no notice....ask where the ad was for the ordinances they have passed with no advertised hearings....
also they are NOT suposed to be using our TAX money for the water plant that should come from water user fees, impact fees, etc.
what a bunch of idiots there!!!

ps. look at all the green pipes sticking up going from 346 to Main Street to that new house....how did they get sewer and they have not paid the first red cent in front footage, yet people pay out the ass in front footage and can not get a development approved because they say they are out of sewer....sounds crooked to me or someone got paid under the tables, etc. or some sort of favortism!!!
